I'm scratchin' my head wonderin' how I never heard of this movie. The script was clever and funny and it had a lot of big names in the cast. Very entertaining.
"You've got the right furniture for it. " She's got the kinda shape the world should be in." 9 minutes in and the one liners are great.
You picked out both my favorite lines ! She's got the kind of shape the world should be in !
He said, "You've got the furniture for it, baby"
During this pandemic (covid 19 ) I can’t stop watching black and white movies .
Same here! Such a great treat to avoid mass media!
We will watch them together.......apart! I love them too!
@@WowJustWow37 I try’mmm
I love watching the black and white movies back then because they didn't have all the disgusting foul-mouthed throughout the whole movie, just to get their point across. Good clean fun! Thank you for the share loved it!
“Good clean fun” is a terrible recommendation. It is a recipe for banality.
👍🏼 yup. I’m with you on love of b&w movies. Movies got all the emotion intended, with less in-yer-face everything.
They didn’t need to. Audiences were well accustomed to using their *own minds*. They didn’t need or demand (or really want)
the graphic everything depicted today. Back then, it was still the Golden Age of Radio. People were accustomed to listening to all their favorite radio shows.
They excercised their imaginations daily, on radio drama. Trust me, as one who listens to OTR old time radio every day, once you get used to using your imagination as your own “movie screen,” its quite fulfilling. To the point that today’s TV and movies are sensory overload. What was funny then, is still funny. Fact.
That’s why I Love Lucy is still considered by many as great entertainment. Hollywood today does all the thinking for you. That’s why everything is so
graphic. Over the top. Language. Sex. Violence.Criminality. Social issues. Its all thought out and spoon fed. Any morality is out the window. The overload is why OTR is making a huge comeback. More people are enjoying it on internet radio, much like the old times. Shows with ads and news breaks.
I find it very strange watching a movie like this, all the actors are so active, interesting and real, yet they are all dead by now. Weird!
Back when things were made in America and you got a real person on the phone. I miss the America that once was..
I cannot bear all of the noise, explosions, blood and violence in today's movies. I feel like I am in a war zone. Nice to see a pleasant, funny comedy. More of these please.
And vulgar language ;.^(
I was in the doctors office waiting room this past week. I had to wait over 30 mins before being called back. On the TV was the movie the Avengers with Iron Man. All the graphics and bright flashes and beams of laser guns, transporting and explosions seem to be geared toward a 9 year old boy audience that watches that stuff and says "wow".
Yes, bullet holes in the forehead are so much more genteel in black and white.
🤓
It was pretty loud tho
"she's my wife, my own flesh and blood." Screwball comedy about covers it! Granger was great!
Farley and Shelley have wonderful chemistry in this- a good B picture with a great cast(and a really cute dog)
Not really that much of a B movie because Farley Granger is being lent from another studio even and Shelley Winters was kind of big back then... before she got big .... Ok sareeeee. This is also pretty well produced. I mean it's 1951 & the really cheap movies were in the mid and late 50s, early 60s. This is just another inexpensive Hollywood movie.
That's what I'm always telling my wang - behave yourself. Ok Sorry again.
I never got what the fuss was about Shelly Winters!!! She always came across as a Big mouth White Trash Woman!!! No matter the part!!!! I've tried and tried to like her!!!😅😅😅😅😅
William Demarest...Can't mistake that voice.
That was a funny frickin movie!!! I love old movies!!💖💖💞💘 Lots of really famous people in this movie, awesome!! Farley Granger was hilarious 😂😂
Anything with Lon Chaney, Jr.! Thanks for posting.
Good Movie1 I was able to forget my "TENSION Headache"
Just don't watch a movie made today, or you're headache will come back, then you'll have to watch this again ..
😂😂😂
Really enjoyed it! Farley and Shelley are great together. Archie is pawdorable.
Enjoyed the movie but I got the opposite impression. They worked good together but don't seem well matched to me. Doesn't matter though good movie in the end.
Excellent movie loved it all 😊❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great old B&W
Movies,LUV them.!
Best line ever
hahahaha
Fantastic movie, excellent script , amazing performances and a star called Archie !!! I really had a wonderful time !
The onsite footage in the beginning, showing the iconic May Building (Wilshire/Fairfax), while Granger enters the posh Mullen-Bluett, to buy an anniversary present for Winters. Both located in the mid-Wilshire (aka 'Miracle Mile') District. And not to discount the super cool digs, where they live, which I'm assuming is also in the mid-Wilshire area. get a load of the vernacular from '51, at the 1:13:14 mark; "phony? you mean I passed a 100 g's "in the queer"? Vintage.
need anything from the store? Milk, butter, gin?
why did i laugh so hard at that?
Hey Donald, Keep up the good work"
because it's way to funny!!
Maybe because of the milk. Gin is clear and also butter for your headdress. But milk is funny ...
9:00 - "She's got the kind of shape the world should be in."
The hair of the Dog?
Ending credits "in the order of their disappearance" haha clever.
Theme song “Behave Yourself”.
Written by:
Lew Spence & *Buddy Ebsen* !
Aka Jed Clampett - _The Beverly Hillbillies_ 😁
Liberty. Constitution. Republic.
This movie is amazing, with a wonderfully deep cast of well known character actors supporting Shelley and Farley. Margalo Gillmore was perfect as the mother/MIL. Buddy Ebsen co-sang the title song.
false tooth included!
Don't like cats. Told my new husband we could get a cat as long as the litter box wasn't visible and Cat didn't sleep with us. The first night, the rescued 6 year old cried outside bedroom door, after 30 minutes listening to carpet tunnel being scratch-dug under the door frame from the other side, I gave up. Next morning, I was a cat person. Landlord unhappy; didn't like new carpet tunnel. Love this movie.
What a enjoyable movie... Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing
Love how Wilshire Blvd and La Brea looked back then. That May Co is still there as a landmark. Also love the side streets of Beverly Hills off of Wilshire. Classic.
Rancho La Brea - the 'Tar Pits'.
Union Station still looks good!
@@jaminova_1969 yeah it does.
Love the dress store, with it's glass and stone (inside and out)-very mid-century modern.
'Miracle Mile'
Archie with the little bandage on his head was the CUTEST thing ever...Such a terrific film...LOVE IT...: )
Hahaha I love how he tries to talk to the dog like he would understand him
Fun movie. Incredible set of classic character actors.
This is such a joyride! Character Actor bonanza!!!
Super cute movie! Really enjoyed watching it!
Well we finally get to see what Uncle Charley was doing before moving into the Steve Douglas household.
This the best thing I have seen in so so long! Thank you so very much for the upload. Made my night! Love your channel. Keep up the terrific work!
I love mid century movies. so much awesome style, people dressed well
Love the old cars but new back then.
How about the wonderful mid-century modern furniture and design throughout? The set decoration and costume departments outdid themselves. Mid-century modern furniture has come back in a big way recently, and I love it!
Poor guy just wants to enjoy his wife. Throw the dog out!!!
Keep the husband AND the dog and leave mama's house. And don't look back
Ha...Two men get in elevator..elevator arrow goes to Penthouse floor...Bang !...elevator arrow comes back down to 1st floor...two men casually leave...good one..!!
Great movie. Bravo to the cast ⚘1st time seeing this. Thanks for posting.
So many one-liners that go by so fast.
And they stack the bodies like cord wood.
Thank you for uploading. I love Shelly Winters' movies.
You know it's an old movie when Shelley Winters is a Vargas girl.
You know it's an old film when Shelley is SMALLER than the Hindenburg in this movie!
But seriously, the best film I ever saw her in was The Poseidon Adventure.
You are also dating yourself, are Playboys still being published?
@@jameskoch7190 When you talk back to people like this, it makes them think you're a 30-year-old eunuch.
Oh, I forgot -- 30-year-old eunuchs ARE running Playboy into the ground right now and DID stop publishing the magazine!
@@jameskoch7190 I am a codger, but I think Vargas girls were being phased out even as I was hitting adolescence. But I read books, so that REALLY dates me with the Dumbest Generation.
William Chadwick You read books, lucky you, I unroll scrolls, even have a few titled Dead Sea Scrolls, unfortunately they’re a second edition.
The dog reminds me of the terrier mix I just adopted. She wants to play fetch whenever I start to read or watch utube. Love her to pieces. 🐕🦺🐕🦺❤️
WOW! An all-star cast.
The dog is a fabulous actor. Great movie.
Thanks for the movie ❤
This is a fun and mystery movie, the dog caps it all with smiles. can't get any better than that.
I love Uncle Charlie!!!! The cop is uncle Charlie in My Three Sins!!!!😊
Not suns.. my three sons
Thank you for this adorable film! 🐕
I subscribed immediately!
I love the classic. The language is good enough a child can watch it with you. The plots are great !
Great film Shelley never looked better!!
Wonder why they didnt play up Shelly more like they did for Marilyn Monroe...both started as sex pots.
Pay no attention to the fact the dog was entreated by chocolate in the first ten minutes....DO NOT GIVE A DOG CHOCOLATE. They can die....I don't wanna explain. Cheers.
Oh, yeah. A person known for his vulgar words is preaching to others to behave themselves. This is real a comedy show.
Farley Granger is really henpecked in this film.
Farley was just more than a little bent.
@@paulmiller5228 If by that you mean he was homosexual, yes he was.
Interesting to watch this 70 years after it was made and live right there near La Brea Tar Pits!
lol these two as a couple. Thanks for uploading. Farley was a cutie and Shelley was like a extra curvy Jean Harlow
Farley also came out of the closet and watched his film career evaporate.
Harlow had a body, but no face.
Classic movie the way to go
Forget our troubles
Media is over the top scary
I don't watch ANY television. I watch these type of movies on REGULAR (free) RUclips, and when the commercials come on, I mute them.
Archie deliberately did not deliberately dakine !
somos pocos los que aun apreciamos las películas a blanco y negro.
OMG at 50:15 he tries "Lamb Chop....$1.49 a pound...." holy shit! in 2020 dollars, that's $15.27 a pound!
In Hawaii 2021 It's $39.79 a pound!
Farley Grainger is too stiff--CARY GRANT, BOB HOPE even TONY CURTISS he ain't. Good enough print. Shelly Winters, as always, is great, lots of familiar faces and voices [radio personalities of the time], added to a madcap plot make for enjoyable family entertainment.
I know you didn't put Bob Hope in the category with Cary and Curtis who were cuties.
Good Movie! So entertaining and enjoyable! Love these old movies! Love seeing the actors and actresses from the past! Thank you for uploading this movie 🎥! Loved it!
This is a great comedy movie must see over and over again just wish they would of let us see the last part when he took his wife upstairs think he was going to spank her but what a great movie.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
....O'Denny!
It'NOT O'Denny, It's Denny!
No O?
NO!
Oh.

Shelley was great in this movie! A classic comedy! The pooch was so endearing.❤
Milk butter Gin 😂😂😂 Good movie awesome cast. Mother in law was an old hag. I'm glad I never knew my 2 ex husbands mothers 😂😂😂😂
Too manic? Not possible! No chance to get bored! 👍
Dislike, no cc and not the cleanest copy of this rom com.
Wonderful classic screwball comedy with a wonderful cast!
1:11:00 "Mother will be away for hours! Dianetics tonight!"
Bizarre movie, but cute. "Milk, butter, gin?"
A young Shelly😍😍😍😍 Adorable
GREAT cast!
I couldn't finish this with the mother outlaw being so evil.
It was all part of the zaniness. She comes 'round to him in the end, of course. re-watch it :))
I love Winters. Ditto Granger. And I adore hokey older films. But, Shelley and Farley just don't quite go together as a couple.
They were a couple in real life, in between marriages and affairs with others. Farley was bisexual
Farley Granger and Shelly Winters were never married . It was a publicity stunt to promote this movie. A little fact checking can go a long way.
@@selectiveoutrage6617 He never married, and it seems he may have been bisexual, but spent his later years as gay with a longtime partner
@@terryowensby5690 I never said they were married, sweetie. Both of them decades later, with no movie to promote, talked about their romantic relationship. Read Shelley's and Farley's autobiographies. A little fact checking can go a long way.

Well Done... many good memories
Bill Denny was the name of a sportscaster in Phoenix Az who ran for congress.
Comedy, stray dog messes up guys life. Thanks for sharing.
I’m grieving right now but old movies always make me feel better. I never watch tv except for TCM. THESE BLACK AND WHITES HAVE A CALMING EFFECT. Enjoy the old days when things weren’t so bad. 🇺🇸
Too bad Granger overacted so outrageously -- he really overdid the facial expressions, he was better in romantic dramas, but then the script wasn't exactly rolling in the aisles funny. The dog was the funniest.
I really enjoyed movies Winters was in growing up, but in her private life she was a bit of a puzzle. Watching her on shows like Carson was different I guess you can say. Seemed like she would have been happier living in China or Nazi Germany, it was odd.
really enjoyed this cute movie. thanks.
I've always thought Shelly Winters looked and sounded like Lucille Ball especially in their early years.
What A Man!!!!!
Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest, the prequel! The dog has more brains than all the humans in this film put together. And Shelly Winters (like Eve Arden, and Lucille Ball) lives up to the stereotype of the 1950s by being more brainless than all the rest. For shame, 1951 Hollywood, for producing this totally offensive movie!
A delightful comedy!
All that yelling ,love Farley ,but just couldnt watch it through, what a shame
Shelley Winters was real pretty here. I never did see too many movies with her being this young.
A newly married couple sleeping in separate beds. Even back then it looked silly, people knew better!!!
we need more "Woke" movies these Movies should be taken off the youtube........Cos it might the modern World bad ideas on what is normal !!!.We cant have that.
Take a look at how slim waists the woman have.
