👋🏾 there and awesome video! My sister suggested we visit Tromso to see the Northern Lights after watching the North American eclipse this week, so I wanted an idea of what to expect. This will be our 1st trip to Norway, or any Scandinavian country, so we're very excited. Outside of the lights I'm looking forward to the Sami experience, and the cable car up the mountain. Thanks for the tips and happy travels!
Hey! Thanks - so glad you enjoyed the video. Tromso is such an incredible destination - northern lights, stunning landscapes and a distinct culture - I don't think you could have chosen a better place for your first Scandi trip ☺ I'm so excited for you getting to experience it with your sister. Such a pleasure to pass over the tips. Happy travels to you too!
@@thediscoveriesof You're welcome. I'm a little concerned about the cold but we're looking at late September, so ideally it won't be as bad as when you were there. Hopefully, it's a great experience and we can put Oslo and Copenhagen on the list next!
It was written "Fisen" about the cable car. Pretty sure you meant "Fjellheisen" (Mountain lift), since Fisen means "the fart" in norwegian. 😁 Not very known about the Tromsø area, but theighbouring island is named "Kalvøya" (Calf island which might refeer to newborn-young reindeers) Just a few corrections from an otherwise nice video! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks! It was fine in terms of crowds for the things we were doing - I don’t think it’s off season as it’s northern lights season but overall, it wasn’t crowded. Was able to grab tables in restaurants/ book onto tours just fine. Hope you have a brilliant trip!
A truly fun video to watch :-) Very well done. Skiing is a very big part of this region in winter. You should try that on your next adventure. You should also come back in the summer. As I live in Tromsoe I have a few suggestions :-). I
Thank you! It’s such a beautiful city and region, I genuinely loved it! I’m a terrible skier but I’ll definitely give it a go on my next trip and a summer trip to the region is absolutely on the cards ☺️🙌🏾 what would you suggest for a summer trip?
We fell in love with Norway when we went to Bergen last year. This year we are hoping to go to Tromsø. Thank you for this great video! It has great tips!
It is an incredible country - the landscapes are unparalleled 🤩 Got my fingers crossed that you get to go to Tromsø this year and so happy you liked the video!
Thanks for the video. Which month did you travel to Tromso please? We are just planning a trip there for next year, so your video was very useful. Keep up the great work! :)
An absolute pleasure! I was there in the tail end of February - got a decent amount of daylight to get out and do stuff but still nice northern lights on the evenings it wasn’t too cloudy. Hope you have a brilliant trip when you go ☺️
Very informative and useful video. Thanks for sharing. I’m planning there next year Jan end. Would you recommend? Would it be too dark to do anything else apart from seeing Northern Lights?
@@sayanroy9426 thanks! Glad you found it useful! It is a lot darker in January but it’s also still the whale watching season, which I missed (it finishes end of Jan) and was really sad about. I’d definitely go back in January but I think it makes sense to plan out your days so you’re making the most of the daylight and leaving anything like museums etc to later afternoon when it’s dark 😊
Planning a trip to Tromsø? What are you most looking forward to and why? If you've been and have more suggestions, drop them below too!

It’s actually Kvaløya, meaning Whale Island, otherwise you’re right. 😁 There are quite a lot of reindeer here, and we often have them in our yards.
Nice video. Watching from Tromsø. ❤️
Really cool video!
Greetings from Tromsø
I’m going in October. Cool video :) cheers!
Thank you! I hope you have an absolute blast - it’s an incredible destination!
Really amazing video. I am planning for Feb end next year too. How was the crowd? Was it off season?

Which month did you visit
Late February
Love your video. Watched it many times. We are now planning on renting a car and driving around the area. What month did you visit?
Hey Christine - thanks, so glad to hear! I was there a couple of weeks ago at the end of Feb. When’s your trip?
@@thediscoveriesof thanks so much for the reply. We are still in the planning stages, but we were thinking Jan or Feb 2025.
Absolute pleasure! I hope you’re excited- it’s such a cool destination, can’t recommend it enough ☺️
