      Thanks, yes, I have worn glasses since I was 8 years old and need to have them on all the time to even be able to see anything. My eyesight is extremely poor. So even with my expensive fatshark goggles, I have to remove them and then put them on again multiple times during a flight session. It was really nice to not have to do that for once.

      Yup these are the "upgraded" version of the ev800d -- for some, it was not an upgrade since the screen is smaller and you can't detach the monitor, but personally I don't like a very large screen in my face when doing fpv and detaching it isn't really relevant to me. Hello, I bought the emax tinyhawk 2 freestyle rtf kit. The fpv goggles had poor resolution. Then I bought the eachine ev 800dm. The screen of the glasses says rssi low and the reception is very bad. The picture flickers already white if I fly only about 10m away from me.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  Год назад +1

      Are you using the correct band/channel? Make sure you do not use the "search" feature and manually set the band/channel. If the band and channel are correct, go back to the emax goggles that came with the tinyhawk freestyle RTF. Does the same issue happen with them? This is to make sure that the VTX/quad has not developed a problem since you last flew it. I had a VTX that went bad quickly on the tinyhawk freestyle2 for some reason. Anyway, after checking all of that the next thing I would do is replace the antennas on the EV800DM. One, or both of them could be defective. If you replace antennas and the problem still persists, but you don't have any issue with the original emax box goggles, then the EV800DM might be defective.

    Thanks for the video. I have the cine pro as well. So what is the best way change the vtx power? In beta flight or on the vtx? I did it in beta flight but not sure if that did it. I could not figure out how to do it on the vtx. Could be a good video.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  4 года назад

      I changed the VTX power in betaflight on PC. At the betaflight CLI tab, you can type:
      set vtx_power = 2
      ...and then type:
      save
      ... to set the power to 200mw on the CinePro. The cinepro will restart itself. You can then verify it by going to the CLI and typing "get vtx_power", if the number says 2 then it changed.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  3 года назад

      @@BlkInc1 It is good that you figured this out because you would probably have the same issue with fatsharks too. The problem has to do with filesystems. A 64gb microsd card automatically formats on PC using a filesystem called exFat. exFat is not supported by FatShark, EV800dm, and many other devices because it is Microsoft's proprietary filesystem. To format the whole 64 gig card using the open filesystem called FAT32, you need another application, windows/PC can't do it natively via the GUI. It's frustrating but it's why I recommend a 32 gig card in most cases because then this struggle is non-existent. Sorry you had a lot of trouble, thanks for sharing the info.

    • @JohnCuppi
      @JohnCuppi  3 года назад

      I still do indeed recommend the menace patch! I use the purple menace patch on my fatsharks and it works great. I own both the dipole-optimized version as well as the regular purple one. You need to use both -- the patch antenna is directionally based, while the other antenna is omnidirectional. On the ev800dm, you'd replace the stingray patch antenna with the menarc patch, and the no-name omnidirectional antenna with the raptor.

      So many great questions here! I will try to do my best in the scope of this RUclips comment. First of all YES sell those VR02 and replace them with these. These will work fine for any analog video quad and that includes the beta fpv Cetus. Second, I really like the literadio 2 se for beginners and training in liftoff. It is a decent radio for the price, the only problem I’ve heard with it from others is that the quality control is spotty. Finally, about video uploads: the eachine ev800dm goggles record video files to mp4 on a micro sd card. They are playable and uploadable directly as is if you want to RUclips.

      @@Zionson1 Hey sorry for the late reply. So, to configure output power for the Rekon 5, you can do this in betaflight using the video transmitter tab/section in the left menu. There should be a drop down option within there that will let you select a higher output power. The video transmitter might need to be unlocked to permit these higher output power levels, so check the manual regarding that. For the meance patch and any antenna in general just go with RHCP. RHCP is the most common vs LHCP for analog video quads.

Anyway, yes you are correct the physical screen size is bigger on the ev800d. Honestly my opinion is that Ev800d or Ev800dm; either one you choose is going to be fine. The DM was definitely made more for glasses people like me. The EV800d did not fit my glasses, which would not work for me having pretty extreme myopia. But! Non-glasses wearers may also like the focal adjustment. I wear mine with the adjustment all the way out, even though I can see fine with the screen up close using my glasses, because I like the distance. However, some people prefer more immersion, it really comes down to personal preference. If price difference is significant enough I'd just get the EV800DMs purely on being cheaper. There is one other difference; you can remove the screen from the EV800DM and use it as an external monitor but in any kind of sunlight it's almost impossible to see, so I really think that is just not a very useful feature.

That's the little golden connector off to the side of it. That means the end of the antenna must be MMCX. What you're talking about with the SMA female plug is basically an adapter that it comes with. Take that off and instead buy an antenna that has an MMCX end, these are an example.
