The game where "fuck around and find out" leads to cool stuff great game for a stream, really. jared nails the balance of gameplay and commentary in this series
Jared! That place that you found at 1:22:32 , it's the Dev entrance to Mantellan Crux! The final area of the game! Back on DOS, fog would cover the area, so the small speck would not be visible in the distance, but on this newer edition, it's visible from far out. That door was put there due to game limitations (A physical door had to exist on the regular plane), so they made it absurdly hard to find. Getting through it is nigh impossible without abundant magical ability. Shocked you happened to stumble into it!
~1:20:00 *while you are wandering around on a lone island in the middle of nowhere, you hear footsteps coming closer* "I've been looking for you. Got something I'm supposed to deliver, your hands only..."
After watching the first stream I tried my hand at Daggerfall; my boy Jared makes this look easy. At the 4 hour mark he already had a horse and a cart, at 4 hours in I finaly managed to finish a second dungeon, including the tutorial one. This game is up there in dificulty with the OG Final Fantasy and all the "souls" games, and the wierd thing is I am really liking it. Thanks Jared.
genuinely impressed with how quickly you found the king of wyrms. Like, there are a LOT of wrong paths you could have took when it's relatively quick to get to.
The fighters guild is a good way to find the big treasure-filled dungeons that aren't on your map at the start. Just do ordinary quests for them. The money you get from the guild is a pittance compared to the treasure you get
Quick correction about Daggerfall Unity modding. It works fine with the GoG version, the key is NOT to use the GoG Director's Cut version. Just standard dos daggerfall with DF unity installed like the steam version.
0:58:45 Jared: "The Wii is older now than the SNES was when the Wii came out." Me: "No... No... That's not true... That's IMPOSSIBLE!!" "Search wikipedia, you know it to be true!" (looks it up real quick) "NnnoOOOoooOOOOoooo...!!"
"I had like a month" disregarding that it took over 15 days one way (since you didn't travel recklessly) to get there... 15 times 2... plus days resting... math...
I think it would be cool if there was a mod for a crowbar item. It could be used as a one-time resource to break a lock on a chest without damaging the treasure inside.
I just wish Jared would remember that most stats that aren't divisible by 5 or 10 don't do much in Elder Scrolls games. Can absolutely RP a character without also making yourself always 3-4 levels behind the power curve :P Particularly with endurance. Just one of those stats you wanna either build early, or just leave at a nice round 40/50/60 etc. Str is every 5 points, Will is every 10 points, Agi is every 10 points, End is every 10 points, and Luck is every 10. Spd/Personality/Int I don't think have breakpoints, so don't need to be increased by 5's/10's. It's just better to +5 str, or +5 another stat twice in a row that to split points around. It's a bit like the guy in D&D who uses his level 4 to go 17str 15con instead of going for 18str or 16 con.
Can you rob the bank? Also i've been wondering, why not loot the slain's gear and bring em to a city to sell it? If you got a Wagon (and not lose it) you'd be able to keep running out to stash it all in it then go back in to grab more. Also also, does the weapon type matter when you are fighting things like Skeletons or locked chests?
A bit late but yes. Hammers and other blunt weapons are more effective against skeletons. I'm not sure of all resistances. But all short blade types are the same. All long blade, are the same. Etc. Obv material makes a difference.
I popped on Daggerfall through stream and…… hoo boy it’s rough. I’m pretty sure a tire designed the control scheme and I couldn’t figure out something that felt right
@@AaronQ64 just booted up vanilla on Steam. I’m not really good when it comes to modding or doing anything on PC. So if I ran Unity I could just use a controller?
@ryanallen6325 Not sure on the controller front but a big change in daggerfall unity is it uses mouselook. In the old daggerfall you had to use page up and page down to move your head up and down and attacks were directional with the mouse.
has any video game ever given you environmental storytelling by letting you find someone's horse sitting outside a dungeon and inside you find the guy is dead, so that horse is screwed if you don't take him home or maybe horse skeletons outside suggesting many came in and none left
The guy in Sentinel that said "it would be your death warrant if I gave it to you" is the guy you want. You need to level up more. Be careful about rejecting quests or failing quests. It is VERY easy to completely ruin the main story in this game.
I would actually start squeeing outloud if you started a proper Morrowind playthrough. It's such an immersive game, with some of the best worldbuilding of the early 2000's - And there were a lot of great CRPGs at that time. Final Fantasy is important to me, and will always be my favorite series ever. But Morrowind will always be my favorite individual game of all time. Get the Morrowind Code Patch and a couple of basic graphical mods and balance tweaks, and you'll have a game you'll be shocked still holds up well.
@@PBK1977Compared to WHAT? Seeing nearly the same dungeons and towns in Daggerfall over and over and over again? Morrowind is like 1000% more fleshed out and has more interesting quests than Daggerfall, not to mention the game engine looking better and having 20+ years of mods in the mod scene to add to it. The overhaul mods for Morrowind are ridiculously expansive compared to just slapping Unity onto Daggerfall. The magic and stealing/lockpicking system in Morrowind is way better than it is in Daggerfall also. Being a thief in Daggerfall is small time compared to the crazy steal locations they have in Morrowind. Where you know, you actually have to SEARCH and LOOK around a room to find an actually hidden item or key. What a wildly realistic concept! Saying Morrowind is "dull" is one of the dumbest contrarian takes a person can make in the world of PC gaming dude lol. You should be embarrassed and to OP I fully agree Jared should mod and play Morrowind. He would go nuts with that experience. Morrowind AND the Thief series of games frankly. He's missing out big time.

I'm loving this series so far. The roleplaying, the Projared comedy, and just the tiniest bit of jank. I hope you keep playing this.

always find it funny that the great cities in ES games after Daggerfall are so small,
Feeling spoiled with this series and Final Fantasy randomizer on your gameplay channel :)
I missed this stream, so damn happy get to watch it here. Love Daggerfall!
So happy there is more daggerfall. I reallly hope that Jerd finishes the story!
So excited this is up! I just missed it live and have been chomping at the bit for more. Really hoping Jerd does a full playthrough

what about the version from their own website, i'm pretty sure that's where I got it.
@@KairuHakubi From the elder scrolls website? That's fine too. The important thing is it being a regular DOS copy to start with.
Caught the beginning and the end of the Stream, time to watch the rest
Nice! Hope more is to come. As long as you're enjoying this.
These old games are great. I really wish hed do a stream like this of other pc rpgs too in the future. Like Fallout 1 or 2 or the baulders gate games.
the diablo 1 sound effects giving me such nostalgia
SAVE more often mang!

Hey Jerd, to help with the frame rate inside buildings, lower the shadow resolution by a little.
Loving Daggerfall!!
If you rob random houses or pickpocket people, you may get a thieves guild quest
The "reputation" quests you were looking for were the ones you turned down in the palace.
I can't unsee Asmongold ever since that one mention near the beginning.

Love how Jared is just carrying illegal drugs around in his pockets for an in game month. Nobody's gonna want to snort THAT sursum.

I wonder if he's going to find a Witch Coven. Might be interesting to summon Azura, she looks... friendly... in this game.
