I kinda hate how good "Gained Jp UP" is, because if I don't have it on, it feels like I'm leaving JP on the table, but if I keep it on the entire game I don't get to experiment with other fun abilities. And if I do want to experiment with abilities, it takes longer for me to afford new ones!
This is exactly why I’m so glad we have this VOD channel now. I would’ve been devastated if I missed this playthrough because I was working when the stream started
I’ve always wanted to play this game, but never had enough time to do so. Gonna watch this whole playthrough from you, Jared. Good luck. Also, standing camera is sick, adds sort of professionalism and liveness to your appearance, which makes watching more appealing.
The fact you saved it to slot 2 makes me think you were a younger sibling. A moment of silence for all the times you had your file overwritten on "accident".
For those wondering: Hamedo is actually vanilla monk reaction ability. Jared remembers there being an absolutely busted reaction ability on the samurai, but it's not Hamedo, it's Blade Grasp, which triggers on literally ANY physical attack (it's supposed to only be melee basic attacks) and gives you a chance to block it based on your Brave, and it's one to one. That is to say, if you have the maximum permanent brave possible, 97 brave, physical attacks only have a 3% chance to hit you, and it triggers from all directions so not even back attacks work... and even after passing that check they still have to pass your evasion checks, so Blade Grasp renders you just this side of untouchable. And since Ramza has himself an absolutely busted ability that rises a bunch of stats including his Brave, he hits 100 Brave, and thus 100% Blade Grasp Rate, every fight. Chat also comments on this, but it's easier if it's put in this format.
Maximum current Brave is 100. Though you're correct in that maximum BASE Brave is 97. That's because the formula to adjust Base Bravery is for every 4 units of CURRENT Brave (or Faith) of change, it adjusts your permanent Brave/Faith by 1 in that direction. (plus or minus) This is important for preventing units from leaving due to high Faith or low Brave. (Ramza is immune) For Brave though, it's safe to cap.
You could, y'know, reread the bit where I said that the maximum *permanent* brave is 97, and you can hit 100 with Ramza's Scream ability which also happens to raise Speed (the most important stat in the game). I'm not sure why you're writing as if what you're saying corrects me when you're literally just confirming what I said. I didn't bring up the mechanic to raise and lower brave/faith permanently, because it's not really relevant, but yes, that's how you change your brave/faith.
Had to leave after 4 hours of the stream, so I'm glad to be able to catch the rest now! I'm gonna get myself this mod too and play through FFT again...
Its a somewhat common strat for the first fight for easy early JP, so I think he might be doing it intentionally NVM just watched further and he straight up said "Oops that was my own guy" lol
It was not an accident to level up Job Points a cheesy easy tactic at the beginning of the game is to just beat on your own team sometimes going as far as to have 1 enemy left and then you go out of your way to knock out your team until it’s just you as the PC and the one enemy left then you take out the enemy and win the match getting a bunch of Job Points to spend
Jared was asked what FFXII has to do with FFT - technically, it takes place waaaaaaay before FFT, and it's actually the reason why the Lucavi wound up free and able to screw with the world. TL;DR: The gods that you defeat in FFXII sealed up the Espers (which, if you read in game lore, they literally made as soldiers to fight other gods) and the player crew in FFXII goes around collecting and unsealing them, and then cut off the influence of the gods by removing the artifact they used to control humans. Incidentally, the country of Ivalice seems to be where the empire of Rozarria was in FFXII, with "Lesalia", the capital of Ivalice, being a corruption of "Rozarria" after centuries. Essentially, the age of the great empires of Arcadia and Rozarria was roughly the time of the Roman Empire, and the time of FFT is during the "dark ages" after a great deal of tech was lost, though when you get to Goug you can see the beginning of an enlightment and renaissance era blooming. It's actually pretty surprisingly smooth and flows together fairly well as a setting. Even the map being different can simply be explained with the fact that Ultima destroyed a large chunk of the world throwing a tantrum over her execution.
Everytime i try playing a game like this or disgaea, or always get kinda bored and feel like im just replaying the same battles over to grind levels. I like the presentation, especially this game. Just cant get into them
Maybe we will get lucky and Square is working on a Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster style upgrade to the three Tactics games. Really need to get those three FF games finally on Steam, it's been so long.
I'm enjoying a modded version of Tactics: War of the Lions and its great!! Totally well done by Tzepish as it individualizes characters like Balthier and Mustadio
I'll never understand people who keep the default view instead of tilting the camera so you have a better view from above. The default view lacks visibility since there's always buildings and stuff in the way. Also one thing I noticed is that Jared often attacks enemies from the front, then acts surprised when they block 😂 EDIT: ok, I had my doubts at first, but now I'm sure that Jared isn't an expert in FFT : 5:46:55 - you gain ALL the abilities in a crystal, the hand cursor is only there so you can press Select on one to get a description (also I would hide the gained Exp & JP after each action : the numbers display give you nothing since it's obvious you gained some, so they end up just slowing down the battles)
Old vod and never got around to checking this out, but this mod seems really fun. Tactics is a game I usually will play through every year, I've looked into a few mods but never invested much into them. Dipped my toes in the hard mode mod and it was a bit too much, but this one seems like it's fun and changes things up to be worth playing. I'd prefer a version for War of the Lions though, which is what has kept me from trying this mod specifically. Things like having poach innate on Thief (a class I already love as my favorite in most games for it's utility) is great for a low-grind playthrough since it helps with the eco of your game so much. The RNG of scoring an early ribbon too from an oinker is also really appealing.
If you're still looking at possible mods, there's a version of the 1.3 mod called 1.3 Content that adds all the new jobs, bug fixes, and so on, without the massive spike in difficulty. Haven't played it myself, but you might find it more to your liking than the regular 1.3 mod.
Having trouble finding the download for this mod. Anyone have any luck? The hacktics website has the thread for this mod, but the link is invalid/outdated. Please help!
38:19 Am I the only one who looks at *Dycedarg* sprite and think, he looks like he’s dressed for bed? Looks like a bed robe, he wears… 🫥 42:39 … That is messed up… Women are superior to men… They give birth, showing their absurdly dominant pain threshold after all… Though in the Lion wars- the remake of the original, with the Dark knight, they made the female sprite look utterly ridiculous… It’s annoying… 43:39 Brave 64… You could have still done way better… anything short of brave 69 is on the cringe side for me.. 53:04 Algus… It SO looks like a Sprite wearing a overalls! He’s dressed like a farmer & being passed off as a “soldier”…
Female price is cheaper because they start with a dagger while males start with a broadsword. Their prices are based on the equipment you're paying for, not the unit. Jared not knowing this is a disappointment.
@ProJaredVOD - glad to see you are enjoying our mod 12 years later!

Yess, banger after banger on the VOD channel
I absolutely love tactics. Before I got a copy of my own, I once rented this game 5 times in a row.
I couldn't stop!
This is going to be such a cozy watch and I am so happy for it! Thank you for putting these VODS up!!
As a VOD muncher and hardcore FF tactics fan, I am very thankful for this channel. Thanks a bunch Jerd!
Had to leave after 4 hours of the stream, so I'm glad to be able to catch the rest now! I'm gonna get myself this mod too and play through FFT again...
I can't find the download for it. I found the thread on ffhacktics, but the download link is expired. Any luck?
I love that in the first real fight jared attacks 2 of his own people without realizing it.
I think that'll happen to me too since I never played the game. The game should atleast highlight the enemies more in red or something
Its a somewhat common strat for the first fight for easy early JP, so I think he might be doing it intentionally
NVM just watched further and he straight up said "Oops that was my own guy" lol
It's 100% intentional, job points won't grind themselves lol
I thought that was happening 😳

So glad to see the community for this game still alive and kicking. I'm hoping the remake comes out and does it justice
I missed this live, so here I am.
LesGo.
This is one of those games that I wish I could like as much as everyone else does. I'm excited to see someone who enjoys it do a play through!
Everytime i try playing a game like this or disgaea, or always get kinda bored and feel like im just replaying the same battles over to grind levels. I like the presentation, especially this game. Just cant get into them
I like these long-form playthroughs of FF games. They give me something to come back to several times.
Watched last night. Just helping the algorithm
More tactics with Jared!? I'm stoked!
This is gonna be fricking fun
HYPED to catch these fft vods :D
Maybe we will get lucky and Square is working on a Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster style upgrade to the three Tactics games. Really need to get those three FF games finally on Steam, it's been so long.
Realizing that the reason 'l i t t l e m o n e y' happens is likely because the original devs probably had to time each letter in the sequence

OMG I just finish my Zeltennia Castle was we speak.
much obliged sir
Dorter City first try!! Awesome!
Comment for algorithm:)
I recommend the lion war mod for the ps1 version as well

Absolute favourite moment! The build up!
Maybe the guy in Dorter with no bow is that teams Algus?

I've never actually played tactics although I've wanted to. I usually get stuck wanting to since there is a lot of optimization that goes into it.
Not really actually. been emulating this and all I did was boot it up, just don't use wide-screen and it runs like a dream.
@@Prohxyy Not in terms of emulation but in wanting to optimize the party. Totally understand the miscommunication though lol
@@EldricSlayer Just go with the flow

Woooo Tactics
Tactics!!!
It’s weird seeing archers be really effective
This series is gonna male me wanna play the game again
Red Ramza feels wrong.. but i do love me some tactics.
nice!
Imagine a modern FFT-like 2D MMO. That'd be crazy.
Nice.
The 1.3 mod is just you missing too much, and scripted encounters you have to play thier way or you cant win
This is way better.

my wish for a 2 HR remake then a new FFT story. I know we got Triangle Strategy but FFT still hits different.

Jared, the difference in price between the male and female soldiers is the broadsword vs the dagger, it's not muh sexism. 🙄
@@99splashing77 I know, but I'm not going to let an obvious ass pull go unnoticed. I have to at least try to call it out.
Been watching this today. Mod seems too hard with the repetitive losses.
