I can see where Lego Racer got the inspiration of having power up upgrades and replacing. Where Mario Kart got the Morphing Vehicles from. And where CTR got, well, Everything from, they just perfected it.

The UK Gladiators is just "Gladiators," and takes more of a wrestling approach to the presentation compared to the sports theming for the original. The original DID end many years ago, but it was revived a few years back. The original Gladiators had several seasons where Mike Adamle and US competitors crossed over with the UK crew.
