The scene of Saejima executing the hit alone is one of my favourite in the series. You can really feel the influence and love for classic yakuza movies in how it's shot.
Saejima is hands-down my favorite protagonist to play in Yakuza. When you level him up enough he just becomes a juggernaut destroying people and hurling them around.
I remember really disliking his play style at first before unlocking a bunch of stuff, but it was probably a combination of him being such a shift from Akiyama, and also that prison level being an absolute bitch on hard.
@@buddabudda even on normal its a pain in the ass. And I dont know what they heck they were thinking making you deal with that warden boss that guardbreaks with every attack on a slower character with almost no upgrades
Seeing Jared get legitimately really good at these games over time has been suuuper satisfying. The show of skill during the escape sequence was nothing short of divine. At least against Saito, lol
Yeah, the cabaret of this gen sucked, it was just devoid of any fun for me so I skipped it in 3 and this. But on the flip side, Akiyama is the man so it balances the scales.
I try to complete all the substories of all the yakuza games I play slowly but surely. Yeah, this cabaret version sucked to play through. I tried to play it without guides and woah the trial and error isn’t worth your time. What’s worse is that you have to do it multiple times with other women and it is literally copy paste with none of the women deviating from the formula.
I do think this version was a big step up from 3, if only because the girls actually had the bare minimum of character, and not just paper dolls. But the guide-dangit nature of the dress up was the polar opposite of fun
The dressing up of this cabaret version just suck, mainly bc the makeup also affect the score. It's easy to figure the outfit since there's description and all (beside the fact fashion trend always circle back every decade or so), but the makeup is just plain guessing, unless you are well versed in makeup trend of 2010s (japan 2010s more specifically - light pink almost glossy lipsticks but in here it's more like oily lip balm, very light on winged eyeliner, no nude tone, eyeshadow may sometimes fall on the no color, or a very flashy color. Even gyaru look wouldn't fly in this version of cabaret, to get high score you have to be strive for the psistine, no-makeup makeup look). The 2020s makeup taste is nude tone, heavy on eye makeup, blush is more coral than pink, matte over glossy. Trying to match the old trend is just hard

Also his battle theme in 4 is widely regarded as the absolute best in the entire franchise (and his theme in 5 isn't shabby either)
His playstyle was always my favourite too. I loooove the charge attacks and they only get better in 5.

Physically speaking, Saejima is as strong if not stronger than Kiryu so I always like that the game sets up that fight between the 2 of you.
Majima with two eyes feels so... so *wrong*.
