- PLEASE LEAVE THE BOTTOM OF THE STOCK INTAKES IN PLACE! Thanks @Car Guy! After they are installed, I compare results with my Dragy to see if the Stinger picked up any time in the quarter mile or 0-60. Outside of that, I get some great sounds of the turbo and recirc valves (or blow off valves) through the intakes!
Thanks for tuning in, be sure to like the video if you did, and subscribe for more on my Stinger GT2 in Micro Blue! Check out some of my other playlists for more of my videos of my project SRT4 and Hellcat!

I realize I was supposed to keep the bottom half of the air box installed, I have since fixed it! Thanks @Car Guy!
Just posted a comment asking about that! Thank you.
Instablaster...
I'm stoked. Just ordered mine, actually based a lot on your video..seems like a great system.
Great video. Awesome test track! Thanks for sharing.
I want to personally thank you not only for your videos but I feel like you made my mind up last week after watching a few videos of yours to pull the trigger and buy a new Stinger. So with that said, thank you. I am loving the new car. Great video content.
That means a lot, I appreciate that and hope you enjoy your new ride!
Hey good vid man, I own a 2018 stinger gt2 awd. Just got the jb4 tune, 1 step colder spark plugs, bms intakes and oil catch can. About to install maybe 2morr or on weekend since its raining in NYC. Your vid is gonna make this ez install even easier. Thx again. Nice color btw I got hi-chroma red
Thanks make sure you keep the bottom half of the air boxes in!
@@quixilver09 just did it myself boss, kept the bottom in and worked and fit like a charm. Intake sounds are amazing!! Put in the jb4 now that intake catch van and spark plugs are in
Mine come in Thursday I cant wait!
Make sure to leave the lower part of the airbox on!
Sounds awesome. I had a turbo eagle talon with a k&n open air intake. Everytime I pushed the clutch in you could hear this cool whooshing sound. The higher the rpm the louder the sound.
Truthfully, K&N panels with the Velossa tech big mouth is the best combo for keeping engine heat out and have a high flow system. I also added a mid pipe, plugs to JB4 and it's 4.2 0-60.
Best sound and no need blow off I like this.
Exactly!
Hehe he said “rub it on the nipple”
Note, for Launch control, when you engage it, wait for 3 sec. before letting the brake go. Boost meter will not move up until you've held it longer than 2 secs... I'll be doing more runs at drag strip this Sun. trying diff. ways, LC, Custom mode with varying setting. use paddles, don't use them.. and will be posting some new runs on my channel. Hope you can check them out.
did you figure out if using paddles gives you a better time? im pretty sure it would as I think it minimizes the rpm and boost drop when you shift before 6k rpm
You might want to hold the launch control a few seconds longer. I was doing what you were doing and I feel (bottdyno) that holding it longer is better.
If you had to do it again would you buy the BMS or something like AEM? I found a like new / slightly used set of BMS for the 3. 3t for just over $200
The driver side pipe is touching the coolant hose going into the radiator when I tried to install mine. Are you having the same issue?! - the coolant hose is located under the pipe - please advise.
HKS blow off valve would sound sweet.
Yea I've got an SRT4 with an HKS but I like the fact that my daily is just a nice big whoosh.
How did you make it fit perfectly? Mine touch the cross bar and they’re kinda tight. Also I can’t hear them
Where did you buy the BMS intake and for how much?! Can you share a link? Any discounts available?! Thanks
I think you can keep the airbox in there you just have to takeoff the top. More air flow to keep it in.
Thanks, yea I realized that after. Check my pinned comment.
Wait till it gets cold out.porsche just claimed to a car editor that when it goes under 50 degrees--or even colder--their cars can pick up an extra 100 HP.In one of the forums a guy in canada had a gps device like yours and was running a 4.3--all he had done was intakes also--but it was frigid out.I can not wait for the weather to get cold. Our TT 3.3--or any turbo will gain more HP.I baby my Stinger in the summer--the heat is too much aand you can not get the performance--i am in GA--have a 2020 white Stinger and it was 94 today--it is not going to run its fastest sucking in hot air. There was even ice/snow on the side of the road--dude had AWD and just floored it in sport and ripped a 4.3 to 60 with just some intakes.I could not tell if you used launch control but that also shaves a tenth or so off the times.KIA did tell me with quality intakes and an exhaust you should get 7% to 10% if they are done right--which would put the car at about 400 hp.
You did what I did. Took the bottom half of the air boxs off too. It sits better like this. However, on their website and others, I see the BMS intake installed WITH the lower half of the airbox. This way air is directed better. What do you think? Leave it out?
Yea I realized what I did when someone mentioned it in a comment. I put it back the way BMS intended.
ok fuck it this video got me to buy some intakes
Worth it just for the sound!
Sounds amazing and is really dope how does it preform in your opinion
I've never had a car get out of the hole on the street like this one. It's quick, smooth, fancy, and sexy. What more could you want!?
I’ve been hearing great reviews 💪🏿🔥🔥
@@cre8tivegarage157 That's why I bought one too. I've been geeking out about this car since it was first mentioned. I looked at one before I got my Hellcat but the lease deals weren't that great. Now that they have been out and I found out about the lease/buyout option I went ahead and bit the bullet.
My brother was thinking about getting one then he backed out and bought the Elantra sport
So I'm planning on leasing a new 2019 hellcat and the MSRP is $69,059, but I'm horrible and negotiating and dealerships any advice?
The incentives for leasing a 2019 might be gone by now. Check hellcat.org for current rates and residuals. "Hellcat Purchasing" thread.
Listen to the turbo it sounds way better and different by all means. Aren't the factory plug gaps too wide for a proper tune like the jb4?
I have 2 step colder plugs gapped to 22 😎
@@quixilver09 bms know what's going on, performance wise, and getting rid of this cai then back to stock makes wonders.
I'm all for mods and such but what happens when you show up to the stealership with your tuned new car that's under warranty and need repairs? Obviously intake/exhaust would be fine but doesn't a tune void the warranty?
You either verify it before hand with your dealer, or just take it off before you go. All dealers are different.
@@quixilver09 I'm guessing a tune is not easily removed unless u have all the tuning stuff. I paid a tuning shop to tune my Lightning but it's not new obviously
This one is a piggy back style. It doesn't overwrite the PCM, just temporarily modifies it on the fly. All you have to do is push a button to go back to stock, and unplug it from the OBD2 port.
@@quixilver09 nice to know for when I pickup a Stinger GT2 in the near future.
@@michaelthompson4178 It's really great, even the fuel wires with the jb4 comes with a positap so you can remove the entire unit discreetly in about 15 mins
Cut the resonators out😏...def sounds good with the whirly swoosh noise👍🏻👍🏻
Trying not to be too loud with my new profession lol. I can hide the turbo noises by staying out of it.
I removed my mufflers and resonators. Its not loud unless you're getting on it. It does have alot of drone though
Is that just the intake sound alone or did you mess around with the bov ?
So the stinger has "diverter valves" that usually releases into the intake boxes. When you install the new intakes, the top half of the intake box is removed, meaning that you can hear the pressure release more. You can achieve the same thing by just pulling the hoses off of the diverter valves and plugging the hose that goes into the intake. Sounds really good.
What do you mean that you need to keep half of the air box installed? Do you have an image of how it's supposed to look?
The intake box is in 2 pieces. Only remove the top part. Leave the bottom part. If you Google BMS Intakes Stinger, you'll kinda see it.
@@quixilver09 Ahh I just saw it on one of their websites! Thanks for the quick response man. How are you enjoying the intakes? The strut braces are so close to them so it's keeping me weary of buying them. They get hot as all hell.
@@jamesdelury7828 nothing but greatness!
I just got my Stinger. Did this void your warranty?
It shouldn’t. I never had an issue.
Worried it’s sucking in hot engine air because it doesn’t look sealed
Yea, that's always been something to consider, but I guess that's why they do Dyno tests. I guess removing restriction is sometimes better. Once you are moving, the fresh air will be forced in enough to compensate most likely.
You installed it wrong, you're supposed to keep the bottom half of the factory intake box.
The bottom half of the airbox acts as a heatsheild and helps to direct the cool air to the filters. They should look like this once installed: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0890/2048/products/kia_stinger_bms_dual_intake_2018_1200x1200.jpg?v=1576666384
Lol! Well that makes sense. I got them second hand and didn't have instructions. Thanks!
@@ryan2376 so no need to unbolt the box? just need to unclip the top part? or how does that work?
You might be battling aome heat soak there you ahould be posting better numbers on your 0-60 and qtr mile
I miss your charger.......
Maybe think about fixing this video so people don't finish their entire god damn install and then realize they have to completely start over because they did it wrong
I’d get so sick of that blow off valve noise.
