The Cowboys are as close to the Super Bowl as the Carolina Panthers with Dak as QB.
Were so far away from what the chiefs and 49ers just did. We should trade cee dee and Micah and anyone else we can now and loose out this year to get the number 1 pick completely rebuild it now we're stuck in perpetual good but not good enough to win it all. I won't be surprised if I don't live to see another Cowboys Super Bowl win.
Last spring, I looked at the past twenty Super Bowls and the salary cap hit of the starting quarterbacks. Two teams won Super Bowls with starting quarterbacks who were in the top five of salary cap hits. Three teams won Super Bowls with starting quarterbacks who were in the 6 - 10 range of cap hits. The other fifteen Super Bowl winners had quarterbacks who were below the top ten quarterback salary cap hits. Maybe those numbers change now because Mahomes won this year, but if things had gone the other way, we'd have another Super Bowl won by a team whose starting quarterback was low in salary.
I think one reason that Super Bowls are won by teams with young quarterbacks is that those teams are not paying those quarterbacks very much. Those teams have good quarterbacks on their first contract and can put those financial resources into surrounding that quarterback with more talent. If Prescott were taking a vet minimum salary, the organization probably could surround him with talent that might be able to take him to a Super Bowl. With Prescott looking for top 5 money, the Cowboys will never be able to surround him with enough talent for him to win.
I still think that much of the problem is that Jerry Jones doesn't want anyone else to threaten his status as the "alpha male" on the team. The whole "alpha" and "beta" thing is overused and generally used stupidly. Even so, I think the idea might apply to the Cowboys. Jimmy Johnson was an "alpha" coach. Can you think of anyone else since him who has been a true "alpha" at coach? Bill Parcells might come close, but none of the rest had that alpha quality. I thought that Tony Romo was a very good quarterback in many ways. I don't think he was the "alpha" that Troy Aikman was. I don't think Elliot was ever the alpha running back that Emmitt Smith was. There was one running back about ten years ago who was a bit of an alpha, but I can't think of others. Maybe some other wide receivers have been as much "alpha" as Michael Irvin was. I accept that Jason Witten was an alpha at tight end. Healthy Sean Lee and Leighton Vander Esch had alpha qualities, but they didn't stay healthy long enough. I thought Dat Nguyen was pretty good and maybe qualified as an alpha, but some may disagree. I think that they had a good linebacker named Coakley, but I don't think he lasted long enough. DeMarcus Lawrence is a great defensive end, but I don't think anyone feared him in the way that they feared Charles Haley. Prime Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin were alphas, but they weren't surrounded by alphas. I'd love to hear you and Mike discuss this concept.

Watching the Superbowl shows how far off we are. We need DOGS on this team, need a better coach and need HIGH IQ players that are held ACCOUNTABLE!

Joe, you are right. jerry goes the cheap route. But that is because of expensive salaries. 49ers are not paying Purdy yet.
We need to have a few losing seasons and draft a generational QB to have a chance against the Chiefs.

You move Parsons to off ball linebacker and let him rush every now & than diggs coming back he's not going to be 💯 percent right but his prescence will ve on the field you bring back Gilly and have bland maybe bring Lewis back. You put Mazi back at his right position and put that weight back on him you had him to lose to put him out of his natural position & still have OSA bring Hankins back Dlaw & have Williams on the other side of the edge in a 4-3 defense you still have Hooker & you still have Dono. On offensive side you bring back pollard & Cooks you add Derek Henry that will help out Dak in so many ways. You still have Duece ( use him right) & Turpin Oline you bring back Tyrone Smith if you don't have a replacement draft one. Or you slide La'el Collins to LT Tyler Smith LG if you don't bring back Biadas than put Hoffman at center Zack Martin RG & Steele at RT go get Calvin Ridley if Jags don't resign him let Gallup go. My dawg but let him go & now you have went all in & should be doing big things real big things than. But we will see all i can say is go cowboys ⭐ cause im tired of being the laughing stock of the NFL fan base. Not cool

The Cowboys would’ve gotten blown out by both teams, they aren’t close.
We gave up 21pts on defense in 2021 and 19pts against the niners in 2022 with diggs and LVE. Without them we gave up 48pts against greenbay. This shit is on Jerry he made a huge mistake not filling in those holes thinking the defense was gonna compete in the playoffs

What makes me pissed off is that recent playoff game versus packers. We all see Jerry upset in his press box and yet they still carry around an complacent attitude. Like when are they gonna wake up and be more aggressive. Building for the future for 25 years now. What about this present day! What about now!
I agree.. we're not even close and Stat prescott can't handle high pressure games. Throughout his career he has a losing records against teams above 500.. Some of that's on the defense but a lot of that is on Dak.. The couple of years that we were number one in takeaways the defense bailed out dak giving him short fields and second chances to pad his stats. He looks good against bad familiar opponents but stinks it up against quality teams. He's slightly above average at best. I hope they just let him play out his contract or request a trade. STAT PRESCOTT is fools gold!!

We were the only team in the league without are starting mlb and cb in the playoffs so for us to make it to the playoffs without a starting lb and cb is impressive in my eyes

We have the talent for sure .. I think we should blow it up get some dog mindset players and get the soft shit out .. Mike Zimmer is a great start for defense because he’s dominate .. but offensively give Trey lance a shot I’m sure he’s hungry to get back in that spotlight to prove ppl wrong.

Don't sleep on the rams either. They got robbed against the lions. They have tons of Space and finally have a first round pick since 2016.. That's a team that knows how to draft they didn't even have a first round pic last year and got 4 plug and play studs.. We need to rebuild. I don't care if we tank the season.. I want Dak off the books to free up Cap space for a fresh start..
How far away are they??? Cowboys are a QB away. KC was a QB away when they had Alex Smith. SF was a QB away before they got Jimmy G and Purdy. Cooper Rush has gone 5-1 with these coaches and this roster the last two years. One QB away
