    I got the (older) non Ultra version. On paper, this watch is awesome. Early adopters faced a lot of bugs/freezes/reboots, but as time goes by, they've done a good job for both the app and the watch firmware. After some testing, I could not use this watch for 2 reasons: (1) the Strava link is patchy at best, (2) the barometer/altimeter is unreliable (either hardware issues OR algorithm problems).

    Just watched your review for this device. I currently have the Samsung Gear watch 3 and am currently in the market for a replacement/upgrade. I am looking for a watch that has decent battery life and is not neutered by brand exclusivity, considering that I have escaped the bonds of the Samsung ecosystem (I have an ROG phone). My first choice was the Google Pixel watch, but the deal breaker was the short battery life between charges. The TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS seems to tick the most checks on what i am looking for in a smartwatch.

    Just a sidenote. You can DEFINITELY not shower with it. I had mine broken down a week ago. Their response: "Since you take shower with this watch, this belongs to a man-damaged issue, which is not covered by the warranty scope"

      That's odd. It's IP68 rated and even has a swimming activity in the exercise app. I've showered with it several times without issues. Not good that they didn't help you out. Thanks for sharing!

    • @Elmarvan94
      @Elmarvan94 2 года назад +2

      @@ChaseTheSummit Apparently they don't consider "showering" part of ip68. They blame it on the "high pressure". It didn't break after showering, i got some issues after 2 weeks of the last shower. The only remedy they gave was a 30% off coupon. A joke of course. Just never mention you used it in the shower when it breaks!

    Great watch in terms of features and built-in quality. Only concern I have is related to user data security and privacy. But this concern I have across all smart watches. It's even more serious for Chinese brands. User data encryption and really privaci-focused data policies are still not a common practice in smart watch industry.

    The Fenix HR accuracy looks amazing on that graph. I have a Fenix 6X and have been comparing it with a chest strap and a Polar Verity Sense and no real differences so far. I’ve only started doing comparative tests so this is just the beginning. Also I don’t do HIIT, interval trainings or biking. Mainly steady state running, either trail or road, and some hiking. So far, for my use case, the chest strap and the Polar Verity Sense seem like useless purchases. But we shall see what the future holds. I care a lot about HR accuracy but being an amateur runner, I’m not looking at medical grade accuracy but something that should be pretty close. So far, it looks like the case. Great video, by the way. Looking forward to seeing more of them.

    • @ChaseTheSummit

    Had fun watching the review as always. I want to like Apple/wear OS watches, but they're such tough sells tbh. Terrible battery life meets no compatibility with external sensors.. and most of em are pretty fragile.
    I'm thanking my lucky stars for the Fenix 6X sapphire cause without it, I would still be on my Casio G-Shock GG1000. It's not easy to find something that's both durable and long lasting as well as worth jumping to a connected watch. About the only real Fenix competitor is the Vertix 2 if they make the navigation good enough.

Well… I could be happier with better battery life and the fact the Apple Watch looks like a toy lol. I’m not loyal to any brand, just the best device for my needs. I found the fenix optical hr to be dire, that Sony GPS chip terrible and the rest of the metrics way out. For all it’s failings, the Apple Watch is bang on accurate

    The ultra has a customized version of the 4100 optimized my mobvoi. The body clock didn't work very well and their app is terrible. The battery will easily last 2 days with everything on if you don't use the always on display, in hybrid mode.

    • @ChaseTheSummit

      It depends on what app you use to track the activity. If you use the built in native app you can sync the activities with Strava and download the GPX file from there.

      TicWatch Pro doesn't have offline maps downloaded to the watch by default. You'll need to find an app on the Google Play store for that.

    No comparison (or even mention) to the Suunto 7?? Probably the best WearOS sports/activity watch on the market right now (and one of the best WearOS devices in general).
    It may be running the older SD3100 SoC, but you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference. easy two day battery life with all sensors turned on. 12-15hrs of continuous GPS tracking. Excellent GPS and HR accuracy.
    And the star of the show being the Suunto App, which for sports and activity tracking is one of the best.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  2 года назад +1

      The Suunto 7 is a solid option for sure. I've got a few videos about it! The price is a tad high and I could never get more than a day out of the battery but it's certainly got a place in the market.

      @@ChaseTheSummit cheers man. I've seen your reviews on the S7, great work as always :-)
      It is a pricey bit of kit, but now it's a bit older it's come down nicely - £295 for the S7 and £290 for the TWP3UGPS (yes the name is very silly) here in the UK, so very comparable.
      I get 48-50 hrs of battery out of mine if not using the gps.
      I'm hoping there is a second gen version in the new year that runs on WearOS 3 and has upgraded hardware, as it could be a real killer device in the WearOS world.
