  • A 3-Day online Faculty Development Programme on "Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing" organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, St. Joseph's College of Engineering & Technology, Palai on July 12-14, 2021. The FDP is sponsored by APAJKTU, Kerala.
The FDP was welcomed by Dr. J David (Principal - SJCET Palai) and was Presided by Rev Fr. Dr. Joseph Maleparambil (Chairman - SJCET Palai) and inaugurated by Dr. Mamilla Ravi Sanker (Associate Professor - IIT Tirupati)
Additive manufacturing (AM), universally known as 3D printing, is transforming how products are
designed, produced, and serviced. AM enables on-demand production without dedicated equipment or tooling, unlocks digital design tools, and offers breakthrough performance and unparalleled flexibility across industries. But knowledge remains one of the greatest barriers to AM's wider adoption. Various experts like Dr. Mamilla Ravi Sankar (IIT Tirupati), Dr. S. Kanmani Subbu (IIT Palakkad), Dr. Y Ravi Kumar (NIT Warangal), Mr. Alex A (DM - VSSC) delivered technical talks during the FDP.
The programme provided an opportunity to perform research in 3D printing for various applications.
The programme also tends to provide a forum for academic expert, industry experts and research
scholars to exchange and share their experiences and innovations about all aspects of 3D Printing. The workshop paves a path to understand the principle of Additive Manufacturing in a real time scenario.
Dr. Lijo Paul (Dean - PG) and Mr. Pradeep P V were the coordinators of the programme.
