Polygel is hands down the best investment I have ever made I have not gone back to a salon. Remember though practice really does count but I would love to try a short version. Thank you for sharing this!
I am 70 years old last week and a life long nail biter. Your video is wonderful. I will be trying this and hopefully I can get my nails as beautiful as yours. BTW you are so beautiful.
I LOVE your idea of marking off the forms so you know where the polygel is going! I am going to try this trick - need all the tricks I can find because I’m having a HELLUVA time with polygel!!
They look so good! Happy that you you did the shorter version, as for my job I can’t have long ones (but I do love them) I always wanted to see what a regular length nail would look like and they look great and natural. Thanks for all your hard work! We love it 😻
Use a drill to file them down a bit then soak the remainder in acetone and use orange wood stick to remove slowly. It took me literally an hour to remove the set. And I still managed to damage my pinky by becoming impatient.
Never thought about doing poly gel for short nails. Love that idea! My nails are very thin and don’t grow, so I don’t put polish on them because it never looks good. I think I want to try it this way! I’d love to start painting my nails again. Thanks for sharing!! Love the wavy hair! Looks gorg 💛💛
I'm so glad I found this video! I've been trying to learn how to do my own polygels, and I also nervously bite my nails! I'm so glad to see a nice short set, it's exactly what I've been trying to do for myself!
thank you so much for this video!! i don’t see many people do short polygel nails 💗 maybe next time you could do a voiceover? it’s just a little harder to follow along when i’m doing my own nails and having to read the screen
Lol you know what, my first try went really well. Then I got file happy and had to redo a few. I learned real quick why you get it off your skin before curing, it was stuck and I'm pretty sure it took a layer or two of fresh skin with it! 🤣😂 That's one of those lessons you only gotta experience once!
this is probably the best tutorial for polygel i’ve seen! i kept searching for “polygel” and i saw one lady call it “hybrid gel” so i searched that and found way more videos on it but this one definitely helped a lot! i need to try marking the nail for the length i want, i feel like i waste so much polygel, especially being new at doing it. thanks for the video!!
Great video Rhian! Btw thanks for recommending Nail Career Education in your last video. Also, I can totally relate to being rough on nails, I love short press on's but I snap them off in hours. Thinking about investing in some Madam Glam stuff and learning the art of polygel.
Getting delightful late 90s/early 2000s vibes from that ringer tee and I love it. Sidenote... my nails are nice and long and pretty naturally when left to their own devices but the work I do completely destroys them. Dang hot welded parts 😕 lol
Giiiirrrrrlllll! You are my ADHD soul sister. If I don't have gel or acrylic on I will demolish my fingers. Always have, and it is impossible for me to quit once I start. ADHD is wild! People don't realize.
This is the best version of polygel building, as I always prefer short nails on me, and in the other videos the girls talk to much and show less 😅 well done girrrl 🥰
I love short nails! They look so good 😊How often do you redo your nails? I also love gel because I hate the waiting game and I seem to always smudge them.
This is sooo helpful! I've been really good at not biting my nails lately (with the occasional relapse) but I still can't prevent them from breaking by getting caught on my clothes. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you for this video
These turned out gorgeous I tried to get with the polygel I like the material it’s made of. And I like that you can do it at home. I tried to achieve this look several times! However I sucked with shaping and the take off was entirely too time consuming. So I’m sticking with my at home gel manicures. I really love the nude color you used!
I have a poly gel kit & I’ve done it a couple times but I ALWAYS have a problem with lifting. I definitely liked your tips for preventing lifting. I probably use too much alcohol on my brush & I’m not that great at not getting the base gel on my skin/cuticles which I’m sure doesn’t help.
Ahhh i love them.... im struggling with mine... only got it yesterday but tried it upto 4 times now haha.. i think the dual forms have to much of a curve. im bought some like yours now, fingers crossed.
Prep is the most important, but if you have nails that tend to grow or scoop upwards you will need to fill more frequently (every two weeks) because of the growth pattern and need to rebalance the nail which encourages lifting with these types of nail beds.
How do I stop under the pollygel from clumping? Some times it has a little gap or If I push the dual form down more it's clumpy and bulky and my nails won't grow because it's covering my proper nail. If you know what I mean.
This was a very helpful video.... question though. I thought the whole point of poly gel was not to paint your nails. Meaning you get a kit that has colors of poly gels or am I wrong. I am new to watching these videos so if anyone can help clarify with this??
I‘m so bad with my nails... need to have them done (can‘t do it myself am just not very talented in things like that), otherwise I‘ll chew my skin and nails as soon as I‘m anxious or bored... in my mid thirties still not able to stop😢
One suggestion I would make is when doing this length nail, use the slimmest dual form possible while still covering side to side. Nails this short have a tendency to look wider since they don’t have the length to “slim” them down. And just like clothes, darker colors are more slimming than light colors. This just proves nails can look very pretty without having to be long.
Do they make short forms? All the forms I've tried are extremely long. I can't have long nails due to patient care. But mine are brittle to constant washing alcohol and damage
I should say, you could try regular polish on top of a finished gel nail and a normal top coat. I just wouldn't wanna ruin the whole nail layering/ sandwiching.
I wish you did a lot more with polygel videos! I loved this one!!!

Ahh yay! I do love my nails both ways but totally get long isn’t for everyone 🖤
This is so cool! Are you going to make a video about how you remove them/start over? Would love to see that!
You file them down
Use a drill to file them down a bit then soak the remainder in acetone and use orange wood stick to remove slowly. It took me literally an hour to remove the set. And I still managed to damage my pinky by becoming impatient.
@@msmith7892 polygel does not dissolve in acetone
juliapeszynska this one does, its soak off 💞
@@jeppemarce3137 Thank you. I haven’t started mine yet; I’m trying to learn everything I can before I get started.
Rhian: “I use my nails for things I should probably use a screwdriver for”
My chipped nails staring at me judgingly: ......
Another offender 😂 🧰
@@rhianhy oh yeah
I love your truth and honesty! "I use gel bc I can't be bothered to wait for it to dry" LOL Same.

I love how natural they look!
I love this

can you do a tutorial on how do you refil your nails
Very pretty, so practical and easy if you use your hands all day.
People this look so easy!! My first attempt 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️..polygel threw up on my fingers 🤣🤣
😂🤣😂🤣

Me too😅
From Michigan as well 🥰 love the short nails just the way I like them
I love these nails!! So happy to see them done in a short length. Love this video and OMG you're gorgeous!
This is great! Please do a video showing the removal method.
Wow they look really good. I’m surprised how good the short nails look love it
This makes me want to invest in these products so I can start doing my nails 😍
Thanks for this, been waiting for a short nail tutorial since you first started using MG polygel! :) They look great and very natural. x
I was actually looking for a tutorial on short poly gel nails so, thanks!!!

My hair is so similar to yours. Length, color, thin, etc. please do a hair tutorial for THIS hair style.
Thank you I just found your video! I have watch so many others peoples nail videos finally yours made it so easy and the best one! Thank you so much!

So weird figuring out all the odd ways we can relate but so nice to not feel alone x
Marking the dual forms is such a good idea
I LOVE THESE NAILS. i also anxiously pick/chew at my nails. im going to try this next to see if it helps
Hi thanks for tips. Can you reuse the forms?
That is the same question I have.
This is the best version of polygel building, as I always prefer short nails on me, and in the other videos the girls talk to much and show less 😅 well done girrrl 🥰
I love shorter nails so this video was very satisfying 💅
I love short nails! They look so good 😊How often do you redo your nails? I also love gel because I hate the waiting game and I seem to always smudge them.
You have such long lovely nail beds! Mine are so short!
Love this. I will need to try this. It looks so easy!!
There’s a learning curve for sure!
Check my other polygel video for more info x
This is sooo helpful! I've been really good at not biting my nails lately (with the occasional relapse) but I still can't prevent them from breaking by getting caught on my clothes. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you for this video
Loved the video will try it out, top of my x mas list
Never tried these type of nails 💅 they look very professional! xo 💋
I love your tutorial. Great to see someone doung it in short nails. Subscribed 😉
Thanks so much 😊

Youre probably not roughing up the surface all the way, or maybe too much alcohol too
Omg I’m so happy I found your vid! I just saw your pic on insta of these nails like two days ago and I lovee them!!
Yay! Thank you!
Realistic nails for someone who works. Thanks
So people with long nails dont work??? Lmaoooo gtfoh
i am loving these nails videos!! please do more because they're very calming but also educating. also i'm gon'a order polygel and try this technique!
They look so real
Love the color you picked super cute
It’s me dipping my toes into spring 🌸
Gosh she makes it look so easy :) I end up with polygel sticking to my fingers, the brush.... argghhhh! Lol
I like shorter nails, and usually keep them natural, but I really want to try this!!
That certainly inspired me to try doing my own nails at home... I bought a few kits plus soak off gel polishes
I need more video on RUclips like this
Can you do a video on how to do a fill on polygel? Just discovered you and you’ve gained a new subscriber! 😃
I’m gonna try this method. I haven’t gotten it right the other ways I’ve tried.
i love this! def gonna give diy polygel a try. my nails are pretty strong but i'm back to shellac and i hate living in fear that they're gonna snap! x
It’s such a cool product!
Your nail bed is so perfect! I bought a beetle set from amazon! Hope they turn out as beautiful as yours!
Ahhh i love them.... im struggling with mine... only got it yesterday but tried it upto 4 times now haha.. i think the dual forms have to much of a curve. im bought some like yours now, fingers crossed.
Love!!!!! Aaawwww. This is what I need.
That’s a nice color and I like the length.
Love this! Thanks showing. And I would love a hair tutorial for this hair style. 😍✌🏻
I need to start doing gel again. I am way too rough with my hands!
Pretty color
I love the soft petal pink! 🌸💞💞
i think im gonna have to go and do this when im done with work! its a great idea for nail and cuticle biting
Can you use regular polish on top of polygel?
You made it look so easy. Thank you. Do I detect an English accent ?
Newbie here. Why do you scuff the top of your nails before polish? Does that make the polish grip better? Thanks!
Exactly! Just gives the gel something to adhere to :)
How do you feel this leaves your natural nail? Healthier option than acrylics I assume?
I have a lot of issues with lifting :/ any suggestions ?
I would say its usually from improper prep of the nail or too much product getting on the skin itself which then lifts as your nail grows. x
Prep is the most important, but if you have nails that tend to grow or scoop upwards you will need to fill more frequently (every two weeks) because of the growth pattern and need to rebalance the nail which encourages lifting with these types of nail beds.
OMG girl.. this video should be renamed to : "how to fall inlove before intro finishes".... omgomg
Can you tell me what number filer or type of filer you used to shape your poly gel nails in the end. By the way I love your segment . Very simple.
Have you ever tried to use dip powered?
How do I stop under the pollygel from clumping? Some times it has a little gap or If I push the dual form down more it's clumpy and bulky and my nails won't grow because it's covering my proper nail. If you know what I mean.
How do you take these off?
Great video!!! 🎉🎉🎉
They’re beautiful 💖
This was a very helpful video.... question though. I thought the whole point of poly gel was not to paint your nails. Meaning you get a kit that has colors of poly gels or am I wrong. I am new to watching these videos so if anyone can help clarify with this??
Can’t wait to buy this
Beautiful! Thank you for the tutorial!!!
I‘m so bad with my nails... need to have them done (can‘t do it myself am just not very talented in things like that), otherwise I‘ll chew my skin and nails as soon as I‘m anxious or bored... in my mid thirties still not able to stop😢
Same here 😔
Turned out sooooo pretty 😍
Beautiful job! ✨👍Do you have to apply a base coat before gel polish???
One suggestion I would make is when doing this length nail, use the slimmest dual form possible while still covering side to side. Nails this short have a tendency to look wider since they don’t have the length to “slim” them down. And just like clothes, darker colors are more slimming than light colors. This just proves nails can look very pretty without having to be long.
I struggle with the clumps under the nail and finger. How do you prevent that?
Where did you get your file from. Mine always suck.
For a person just starting out, what do you suggest on what to get? Like I’m wanting to start with polygel.
Omg so. Beautiful
Love this! Which dual forms do you use?
How easy is it to remove ? Do I need a drill ?
Louisa Brannon not easy at all
How is the removal process and how do you do it? 💕💕
You sure make it look easy . I just bought stuff to do mine , and I like short nails . I do have a question , do you do your non dominant hand first ?
Very nice! Thank you
Do they make short forms? All the forms I've tried are extremely long. I can't have long nails due to patient care. But mine are brittle to constant washing alcohol and damage
Can you use normal nailpolish and then the top coat?
I probably wouldn't mix like that but Madam Glam do have one step polishes i like to use!
I should say, you could try regular polish on top of a finished gel nail and a normal top coat. I just wouldn't wanna ruin the whole nail layering/ sandwiching.
The dual forms don't work on my nails though. I have to use paper forms
Wow.... You are GORGEOUS
My biggest problem is the dual form wants to pop off befor I can clean up area and get it under the light. Any suggestions!
How does the underside look for you? Thin or thick??
