SUPER EASY! Thank you! I was about to go to the dealership because I thought this was something they needed to do. I literally changed this step by step by step with you in less than 3 minutes!
Thank you for this! As a woman, it’s nice to be able to not worry about being overcharged for things be told that something else is the issue when it’s not. I appreciate you for helping me keep my independence!
Thank you for posting this how-to. Started getting a key fob low battery warning on our 2019 Trailhawk. Video is very well done, good lighting, clear narration.
Fairly easy. My key fob was showing not detected a little while after I started my car. I knew it was probably because I was driving around with the change key fob notification for a while now lol. I dragged getting a new battery because i thought I had to go to auto zone or somewhere for them to put it in for me. Glad to know it wasn’t as hard as I thought :).
Awesome video! Everyone else with the video titled "jeep cherokee 2016" has a different key fob that does not have the extra step to remove the second shell. Thank you!
I have 2018 Cherokee Latitude and low key fob battery warning came up on dash so guess it's time for new battery. Your video seems to be very straight forward, so I shouldn't have any trouble once I get new batteries, thanks for posting........
The hardest part of the whole process is getting the battery out of the shrink wrapped package. They must mold the plastic around the battery when it's packaged! But thanks for the easy instruction. My Nissan key fob is just a one-step process and I didn't realize there was a second piece on the Jeep fob that had to pop out.
Thank you! I heard horror stories about how expensive the key fobs were to replace….. and I waited until I almost couldn’t open my car door before attempting to replace the battery. I JUST DID IT!!! Easy-Peasy!!! And… best of all, the key fob works from the front door of my house again! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your instructions were simple and easy to follow….. now to imprint on my brain how to reset the oil change indicator….. ugh! 😄
Thank you for creating this tutorial. Step by step was slow enough and easy to follow. I own a 2017 Jeep Cherokee and just lost my ability to start my car through Uconnect when Mopar disconnected and did not upgrade their 3G service. I’m looking for a reasonable replacement product to have the ability to start my car from my phone. Any recommendations?
I just recently purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude the key fobs do not work very well I changed the batteries and it still doesn't work very well if I take the board out of the case it does better no problem locking and unlocking doors put the remote start doesn't work very well at all any tips?
VERY helpful ... thanx, I didn't know it would be ok to take the green board out. It also occurred to me to change my second fob battery but not until I tested that the first change worked. I know that the dealer charges quite a bit of $$$ to do it. Any idea how long you have once you get a dashboard notice under stored messages? Thanx again for the take-apart clarity demo.
They can be a little bit pricey as you will also need to have someone with the correct equipment program the new fob for you. I would start by calling some automotive locksmiths and a Jeep dealership in your area and see what they charge for the fob and also what they charge for your programming. A lot of times you can save money by buying your new fob online and just having the locksmith or dealer program them. Check out these guys to buy the fob bit.ly/CarAndTruckRemotes
I’ve looked all over my jeep I could not find it. Where was the location inside the vehicle that you insert the physical key and turn it to start the vehicle there is there is usually a place on the steering column you insert the key and you turn the key to start the vehicle but I cannot find it. I see my push to start button but I cannot find the actual keyhole to insert the key 🔑.
Good info, but the 2015 ~ 2019 is constructed slightly different.. When they pop apart, you don't have the extra sections with the buttons and spacer. Same concept, just slightly different design.
I think you may be thinking of the Jeep GRAND Cherokee - those do not have the extra sections as you describe. The Jeep Cherokee should be like the one in the video
Here’s my issue and I can’t find anything on RUclips. When I took my key fob apart a little spring in the top popped out. I’ve spent so much time trying to figure out how to get it back in. Any way to show that? Thanks
can you please please tell me what the little square piece is above where you put the battery in?? mine disconnected and i lost it but have the battery i just need to know how to replace that little square piece
Also, if your keyfob battery dies completely, you can hold the remote right up close to the push button start and it will start the jeep. That is from the owner manual. It must have a little RFI D as an emergency backup way to start the car if the remote keyfob has absolutely no battery remaining

There is no way to start the vehicle with the emergency key - it's only used to open the vehicle

That's the chip for the board. I haven't seen where you can buy/replace just the chip - you will most likely need to just buy another whole remote
How do you reprogram a keep grand Cherokee fob key? Do you need a new never programmed before key or can you reprogram?
Unfortunately there is no manual way to program or re-program a Grand Cherokee key fob.
So what’s that emergency key for if it has a start button??
The emergency key is just used to unlock the driver's door if the battery in the vehicle or the key fob dies
That little black part came off on mine. Do I need a replacement?
what little black part are you referring to?
@@PYR-Auto it’s a black box just below the battery that has 8 metal plates on the opposite side
@@PYR-Auto I got a new key, so I am all good… for now
Changed the battery and still does not work. Maybe there’s a short in mine.
What is the emergency key for?
Unlocking the vehicle in case of a dead key fob or vehicle battery
@@PYR-Auto my car doesn’t have keyhole? It’s not used to start the car?
The keyhole is on the drivers door - not the emergency just unlocks
Also, if your keyfob battery dies completely, you can hold the remote right up close to the push button start and it will start the jeep. That is from the owner manual. It must have a little RFI D as an emergency backup way to start the car if the remote keyfob has absolutely no battery remaining
Mine won't go back together
if the case won't snap back together - you may not have the rubber button piece seated properly
