Old Style is old school...in a good way. Please check out a few more of my Brew Reviews while you have another cold one. Thanks for your view, sub and support - CHEERS!
I'm 62 and born (and spent the first 12 years or so of my life) in northern Illinois - Lake County. Old Style was quite popular there and in northern Wisconsin where I lived during my teen years.
Morgan County, Alabama. Sitting here drinking a PBR. I love Old Style. Brewed now by City Brewing Co., which brews Pabst also. I love cheap American adjunct beer. Lawnmower beer, grandpaw beer, bowling alley beer. Hell yes! Get it cold!
Old style beer is being brewed back in La Crosse Wisconsin again and the largest 6 pack is back again Strohs beer is my favorite Old Style Beer is ok from La Crosse Wisconsin
Woodstock, IL (NW suburb of Chicago). Sorry you didn't like it. Old Style is best enjoyed on a hot summer day at beautiful Wrigley Field! Maybe after the last tall boy you might like it more? Keep up the great work!
I think it would taste best enjoyed in its natural surroundings of Chicago. Might be time for a road trip! Thanks for your view sub and support - cheers!
Both sides of my family are from the Chicago area. This is still the beer I associate with blue-collar beer drinking. I don't really like it, but it's nostalgic for me.
Ohio now but grew up in Chicago. This was the first beer I tasted at a very young age 😆 honestly never cared for it but I haven't had it in almost 30 years. I'm willing to try it again.
Chicago’s South Side. Weaned on Old Style. Reminds me of grade school and high school. I also liked the Miller High Life video. Magical stuff. I’ve moved on with my life. Now I drink Stella and Guinness and a host of other choices that weren’t readily available to us back then. What a world! We are spoiled for choice!
Just bought a 6 pack of this for our VRBO this past in August in Roscoe Village near Wrigley for about the same price you did. We came from Edmonton Alberta to see the Blue Jays vs Cubs. Originally I’m from Toronto and had seen signs for this on previous visits to Chicago. I love trying out local beers and being old myself (in my 60’s) I like the craft beer scene, but I find they often go nuts with the hops especially on the IPA’s but even the lagers and to a rarer extent pilsners (my fav beer style) sometimes seem overly hoppy. I enjoyed this for what it was. Refreshing when ice cold on a hot summer day after a ballgame (we had a few at Wrigley too, but when I say a few I mean a few, because along with the ridiculous beer prices there, the Cdn $ exchange was BRUTAL and wound up being about $25 a beer Cdn with tip!). I would buy this again on future trips to Chicagoland. Edit: We also had shots of Malort at Murphy’s as a promise to a friend who could not come because her mother died. The Malort was not a good decision! 😂
WOW, I remember this beer years ago, I’m originally from Miami, but retired 5 years ago to High Springs Florida. Add junk, Grand Dad beer, cheers🍺🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸
I remember the 70s and 80s family reunions. Lots of Old Style and Hamms cans in the coolers. Being in STL, we also had Bud and Busch. But drinking that all week-end got a bit expensive. Once you'd had enough good stuff, the canned piss water didn't taste so bad.
I drink these a lot but yea I do agree with the 3.1. Lot of foam and bubbles. But where I’m at in Chicago they’re usually the cheapest option. Along with ice house
Grew up in the near west burbs of the Chicago city limits. Grew up on Old Style. It’s a Chicago staple beer. Worst ever hangover beer though!!!! We would go camping and fishing in Wisconsin growing up and my parents would take me and my older brothers on brewery tours (this was the 70s man) and I loved the old style emblem since I can remember.
Wow, I'm in the Alabama/Georgia/Tennessee tristate corner, haven't seen this beer since I lived in Anniston circa 1985. Good drinkable Murka style macrobrew, in those days, as I recall. If you just got off work at the mill, and it was ice cold. Different times. The mills are closed, and so much else has gone down the drain. Vote Blue, O my brothers and Only Friends.
Mukwonago, Wisconsin, I am unsure if I ever drank Old Style before. Been drinking brews since 1986 when I made the 19 year old drinking age law in ‘sconsin. Blatz, Pabst, Old Milwaukee, Milwaukee’s Best etc, yes! but not Old Style. Gotta look for that one.
Yep, Old Style is right there among that portfolio of beers. In a blind taste test, I'm not sure I could tell the difference lol. Thanks for your view, sub and support - CHEERS!
Good stuff isnt it ? Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota . Like anything else it got bought out . Starting to come back around. Brewing it in lacrosse again.
Before they cheapened the ingredients and recipe old style back in the 70s and 80s used to have a very unique flavor, not AAL. We used to call it old swill or dog pile, but living in la crosse WI and Chicago in the 80s 90s, it had a distinctive exotic taste
I'm from Chicago. I can.t drink our Old Style anymore. miiler bought it and changed the recipe.I think they lowered the ABV a lot, too! Best to drink it ice cold with random shots of vodka or Seagram's Seven. I saw a tall OS and a shot of Malort for $5 at a bar. We used to prefer the keg or bottles. Back in the day there was and old style sign on every bar on every block. Now the bars are gone and the signs are, too.
I was watching the movie "OLD SCHOOL" last night and Will Ferrel's character was drinking an OS when working on his Camaro. I've seen the movie MANY times and that was the first time I noticed the beer. Thanks for your view, sub and support - CHEERS!
Fully K'd! Here in Chicago, if you order a "Chicago Handshake", you get an Old Style and a shot of Malort. Both down there bottom feeding both as a beer and a liquor. Nothing beats an Old Style at Wrigley Field though, have to say.
Bra, you need a better palate! Old style is the best beer ever!!! I live in Minnesota. I have had a lot of different beer in my life and came back full time to sweet krause
MO here, Springfield area, had Old Style many years ago when I was young experimenting with cheap beers. Don't think they sold too many of these where I was so it could have been in a case for too long, it had a sour taste yuck
PBR owns most of the retro labels, so they are all going to taste very similar. Old Style of today is nothing like what it once was. Nor are all the other retro beers
As any chicagoan I love me some old style
Houston, TX. Now. Grew up on this stuff. With a Chicago “tavern” style pizza , you are in heaven.
My uncle drinks this beer he is 65. I see it everywhere in northern Illinois.

Got my first taste of old style when I helped a friend move to Chicago back in 2000. Good stuff for the price.

I'm convinced that Old Style somehow tastes better if consumed within the confines of Chicagoland.
@@CheapBrewReview Try the "Chicago Handshake" an Old Style and Malort boilermaker.

Tuning in from Salisbury, Maryland. Love your reviews!!
Southern Maryland here. Never tried Old Style. Now I don't have to. Funny stuff. Thanks for the infotainment.

Awesome! Thank you!
Dayton, OH and I found this at one of our specialty beer and liquor stores south of Dayton. It’s not too bad …
WILKESBORO, NC. Looking forward to another German beer in the future. Keep ‘‘em coming.
Growing up in the Chicago area, my friends and I drank thousands of these Old Styles. It's good stuff.

Fair score, your Old Style review parallels your Members Only jacket (old style) Nice spin bro :))) Another awesome review :0)))
Only losers wore members only jackets where I grew up!
A glass? No. No. No. An ice cold can! Hangin' with friends. I can still taste it.
Old style is a very drinkable beer I’ll be drinking old style when I visit Chicago in June to see the cubbies
Find the frog on the label , always fun to look for . Sold and drank a lot of Old Style in my day , have some in the fridge now
Old Style is the best American macro-style beer.
Your comment knocked me out. That's the PERFECT way to put it.
Another great review
I'm from wisconsin so i've had a few.Used to be a great beer.

Great pilsner type beer
My dad loves old style(he drank it at parties growing up). There’s a local bar that serves it in cans and it’s the only thing he gets there.

Stoked that Old Style made it to Cincinnati. It's the staple cheap/$3 pint at a few local spots

How about a review of Ranier beer from Wyoming? It was the beer featured in the Longmire TV series, now streaming in Netflix.
Had it it's good. I'm from Illinois
Rainier beer is brewed in a suburb of LA, California, I think. It used to be a Seattle based brewery with the beer being named after Mt. Rainier.

What about Schmits (not Schlitz) and Grain Belt? I've never drank Old Style, but I've drank these two and I'd say Shmidts 3.0 and Grain Belt 3.7.
Only old style KRAUS
Old Style used to be had for under $11:00 a case around here (Omaha,NE) before the Hipsters got a hold of it! Not terrible, not great.
