Yet they make their last stand, likely knowing that this may be the end for them...their last day on (middle) earth. This bowman is in many ways, the face of Rohan...a simple yet noble nation.

@@vaiav19 Generally a siege is about attrition, now Uruk's probably wouldn't hold a siege long before engaging, however this threw a fork in Theoden's plan as he was trying to by as much time as possible for Gandalf and the Riders of Rohan to arrive. What he didn't realise however, the Bowmaster is a Maiar in disguise.
He wouldn't like the film's because they were missing out a lot of things, what he would have liked is people delving more into his work because of the film's.

Something to note about his actual shot. From a castle keep, several hundred feet up, he managed to loose an arrow that covered several hundred yards and hit a well armoured Uruk-Hai with enough force to kill him, in precisely the place where his armour was weakest... all of this by accident. Sod the elven reinforcements, if they had 300 of this madlad the Uruks wouldn't have even reached the walls!
