I have tied a very similar pattern. It is simple to tie and very productive fly in my box. Seeing a bass or pan fish take the fly...well, that never gets old.
Hi,Matt and Happy New Year. Nice, fun bug for panfish, which we have lots of down here. My name for it would be the Champagne Popper. Thanks for another fun video.
Happy New Year Matt. This thing is going to pack fish into your creel. With this being mainly green and yellow. The fact that I’m from Wisconsin and a Packers fan. Also the b(ass) kicking the Vikings took last night. I’m going with “The Packer Popper Plopper”. 🤷♂️
ERAL said “Lemmon Drop” and I agree. The Bass and Bluegill love yellow poppers. I think this is going in my fly box. Thank you Matt and Happy New Year.
Since tormenting panfish is what I do most these days, I can see this is gonna be a great year! Given the fact I'm seeing it on New Year's Day (After the NYE parties), I'm thinking "Hair of the Dog" is fitting. (LOL! You might have to explain that one to your fellow judges.) Thanks and Happy New Year!
I may be dating myself a bit, but based on the colors of this one and the recent passing of one of the greatest soccer players ever, I'd call this one the "Pele Popper". Looking forward to another year of Name the Fly Contests.
Hope your you & your family had a good Christmas and happy new year, looking forward to many new videos this year. I'd call this one "New years lightning bug"
Happy New Year Matt. I hope it will be a good year for the channel and all of your fellow fly tiers. I like the pattern, I have no panfish to use it on but if I did, I would definitely want this in my box. I'll call it "New Start Bug". Happy fishing!
Happy New Year!!! Hope it's a great one for you and your family. I have no idea what to call this one... but since has sparkle and I think of bass fishing in summer...lemonade popper???
In honor of New Years with bottle popping champagne and the best water to fish for panfish, “foamy water.” I would call it, “Foamy Homie.” Matt, thanks for the great videos! Im excited to get my family involved in the contest!
Kyle- congrats! If you didn't see the results, the community voted this name as their favorite. Send me an email and I'll get the gift card to you. matt@savageflies.com

Hey Matt, color me aquateuse but your bug looks like a LIME TICK POPPER for 2023. Looks fun so it will be my fly TO TIE for next week. Have à safe and adventurous new year.
Good morning Matt. ☕️time. Looking at that fly I’m thinking it’s a new year and everyone starts out with New Year’s resolutions that are often short lived. I’m going with “Good Intentions”. Neat bug and enjoy these contests. Take care Matt. Need a ☕️reload.
Good one John! And I'm happy to say, my resolutions are still intact. Except for walking on my hands. I'm going to learn to do that in 2023. And I haven't yet started. :-)
Hey Matt Happy New Year to you and your family.Hope it is a great one for you and my wife and I are looking forward to some great patterns this year. For this one maybe “Matt’s Hangover Helper”as it’s always better out on the stream or lake than lamenting you should not have done what you did!
Fantastic fly, I’ve been tying these and similar for years. I usually round the tag of foam that sticks up at the front. What brand of wax is that? Thanks for the video.
May the new year bring tight lines, uncrowded waters and memories of both with friends and family. I think this fly should be called "Drop The Hop". In honor of the ball drop for New Years eve on t.v. every year. The Hop part of the name is it reminds me of a grasshopper.
