  • The Ned Rig is one of the most effective rigs/styles for bass, perch and other predatory fish and in this fly tying tutorial, Daniel Bergman fro Fly-Dressing shows us how to tie a Ned Fly.
    Ned the Worm Fly - A super fun worm pattern to fish slow when Perch are picky and not super active, but it can also be jigged home more active. The “popped” up tail makes the fly pulsate in a seductive way even when not stripped home at all. Make sure to keep as much contact as possible with the fly since the takes can be very careful.
    MATERIAL LIST:
    Hook: Ahrex Mini Jig #4 FW550-4
    Glue: Zap brush on,
    Thread: Textreme Power thread 50D - Black & 100D Black
    Eyes/Weight: I-Balz 4,8mm Red
    Tail: Fish-Skull Micro Spine 6mm, 2,8 Foam Cylinder- Orange, Palmer Chenille Medium - Rootbeer & Sculpin Olive Zonker.
    Body: Sculpin Olive Rabbit Zonker & Orange, Palmer Chenille Medium - Rootbeer Spun hard and doubled.

    Very nice tie. Thank you! One tip I'd like to mention though, is that a bobbin is not ruined because a drop or two of superglue taht runs down the thread and into the ceramic tube. I've heard this statement before. Superglue is cyanoacrylate and it's easily dissolved with acetone even when cured. Just wet a q-tip or a paper towel with acetone and let it sit for 5-10 minutes and the superglue becomes rubbery and can easily be removed from the tube.

    Not sure why my comment was deleted, perhaps because it was perceived that I was promoting a competitor, but hardly the case given its a different country. It was only intended to help people who might be unable to source them. Anyway if anyone is struggling to source these shanks in the UK I can point you in the right direction. Still, nice pattern and thanks for sharing.

    Quite like my Stand Up Guy ned fly, this will work great though I've found that using a 90 degree jig hook with the eyes tied inside the bend makes for better durability and snag resistance than the 60 degree.

    Very Sweet Fly !!! Just wondering if the fish teeth will possibly cut the thread of the "wormy" part of the fly ? I will be working to tie a few of these up to try in Michigan !! Thanks so much.

      Hi David, glad you liked it. The thread is GSP and quite strong both against abrasion and cuts. It’s possible to use a thicker one if needed. But of course, shit can happen anyway.

  • @user-oj8qe5sx9j
    @user-oj8qe5sx9j Год назад +1

    Hello Daniel! Thanks for the great underwater video! This template has long been known in different versions. You have applied other materials and added a foam tail. I think this is an interesting idea. I fished with such worms for a short time, because the tail of this worm often clung to the hook, especially when casting long distances or strong winds. It irritated me a lot. My attempts to change this flaw in the design of the fly, as well as to change my casting, have not been successful. In the end, I gave up on this fly. What do you think needs to be done to avoid this?
