Scott, great demo. I have the SE kit too. I love it BUT, I cannot get my hi-hat to sound like yours. I have the HH stand from my Ludwig acoustics and have set the SE controller and cymbal up on it with just a slight press down on the HH pedal before I locked the clutch. I have tried many different sensitivity,,,etc settings but it still does not behave like m acoustic HH. Did you have to fiddle with the HH settings? Could you share your HH settings? Rim, pedal…etc. Ned
Nice grooves, bub! My Crimson II set sounded good; but it sounds like Alesis has really dialed in the sounds for each of these kits. I've got this in the cart just waiting for my bonus check from work to pull the trigger!
Hello. If you look at it, it makes a good sound when you click snare rim, but the Alessis Strike Prose I have is so frustrating because it only happens once in a certain place when I stroke it in a snare rim click position. I put a click sound in the snare rim, so if I just hit the rim, it makes a good click sound. What's the problem.. 0:55~
Love the grooves! And such a gorgeous looking kit from Alesis too! I currently have the Surge Mesh kit and the Hi-Hat leaves a LOT to be desired. What’s your opinion on the Strike Pro SE Hi-Hat? Does it have a lot of range such as an acoustic kit would? And how is the responsiveness? I’ve been eyeing it up as a potential upgrade. Enjoy the kit and happy drumming!
Thanks! This kit is so much fun. The SE hat is an improvement on the original. I’ve had no real triggering issues, but it can be challenging to find that sweet spot where you have complete control of the splashiness with very little foot movement. A tight clutch top ring works best for my playing.
@@scottsupeck2897 no problem Scott! Thanks so much for the feedback on the Hi-Hat, it shall be duly considered. On a similar note, what made you pick a high end Alesis kit over a Roland kit (or such alike)?
If those are felt beater's consider getting plastic ones or placing a pad on the drum head where the beaters make contact. I have heard that the felt will wear through the mesh drum heads over time.
I was actually going to comment on this. I got my Strike Pro SE a few months back and I've been using the plastic side of the beater the whole time and I still wore a hole in it after only a few months. Yes I'm a hard hitter but not that hard. I had an Alesis DM 10 for years before this one and didn't have that issue with that one. I'm looking into triple ply mesh heads now. These are only double ply.
I have this kit and with some splitters I was able to add a splash, a HH, a crash, and a ride. I pilfered the signal from the floor tom RIM for my 9" Lemon splash, and then I mirrored/added another HH, crash, and ride with another kind of splitter.
@@DriveVibeAuto Yeah, I first saw this video > ruclips.net/video/vVHsX0seVOc/видео.html Look for a second one on his video list the goes into more detail. He's my hero, so check it out. One splitter splits the signal into two, so you can assign one sound to whatever you want. And the other was like a headphone splitter, and it duplicates the signal, that's how I duplicated a ride for my left hand, extra crash, and a rack mounted HH that opens and closes with the left foot. So it's really a monster set now. Good luck.
Nice grooves mate! If I were you, I would use a patch on your base drum mash head. The patch is thin enough to be triggered, but the mesh head "skin" is delicate.
not sure if they updated the crashes but you need to have the alesis logo facing the far end of the cymbal from you the choke zones are only in a certain area unless they changed them from the strike pro to the se model not sure just a quick tip if you ever choke the cymbals and find it doesnt work thats why
The only issues I have with my SE after several months is the hi-hat still doesn't always trigger properly and I wore a hole in the bass drum head even after only using the smooth plastic side of the beater. Other than that it's an excellent kit. For live shows I'm just going to use a set of real hats and mic them. I'm looking into triple ply bass drum heads now
That sounds like a great compromise for live applications. I guess time will tell how well my kik head holds up. Didn’t know 3 ply were available. Thanks.

PLASTIC BEATER! avoid using felt beaters on mesh drumheads, the felt will slowly burn away the mesh over time leaving you with a ripped playing surface. the beater is also at risk of being damaged as well. I would recommend using a beater with a plastic side surface.
Really awesome demo Scott. While I'm new to your channel, I found it by searching for a demo for this particular drum set as I'm looking to see if its a viable option for a studio workhorse (my wife is insistent that I not have an acoustic set around so she doesn't have to hear it). As a non-drummer, I was totally unaware that electronic drum kits were this good now or that they could do any of these wild effects. This made my mind up. I'm having my local music store order me one of these.
Hey man, thanks so much for the kind words. It really took a kit of this caliber for me to make the switch. Definitely the most fun kit I've ever owned. Congrats on your new purchase! Let me know how you like it.
Not at all. Factory settings and I keep sensitivity trims on the shells right up the middle. It's been responding very well. I am starting to think that the ride needs a bit of tweaking though.
You used the wrong kick drum beater. The cloth head will dig into the mesh head and damaging it pretty quickly. You should either use a plastic one or use a pedal patch
