Tokyo is all you need. I have a kansai accent (specifically south osaka) and im trying to make myself sound like im from tokyo. Some people just cant comprehend kansai accents so. When learning japanese its always gokd to start with tokyo because its the most grammatically correct :)

I always wish that for this kind of accent comparison video, there is a universal sentence that is then spoken in the many different accents. Something like a verbal version of "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", if you get my gist. Such a universal sentence spoken in different accents I believe will help pinpoint the differences between the many different accents.
As it is right now, just about the only obvious thing is that some accents are faster or slower, but it's extremely difficult to tell is an accent pronounces R sounds or if an accent is prone to using certain vowel sound such as "a" etc.
But thanks for the video regardless. Too many animes I watch seem to speak only Tokyo, so this is a good start in learning about the other accents.

Oh my GOODNESS !!!! You're hilarious!!!! This video had me in stitches, l literally couldn't stop laughing !!!!!
So, I'm Japanese and from Nara. However, because my mum is from Hiroshima and dad is from Osaka, l actually don't speak Nara-ben(Nara dialect). But from what l know of l think native Nara people actually speak rather slow, I'd say more likely to be Kyoto people.
My dialects are mainly Osaka', but l can also speak a bit of Hiroshima', Nara, and Fukui'. I'm also fluent in Tokyo'.
As a Kansai-zin(people from Kansai region), when l speak with Tokyo dialect my family complains a LOT that is strange haha.
Wow, I'm writing a lot but please don't forget about "あれチャウチャウちゃうんちゃう?" "ちゃうちゃう"-isn't that chow chow? No,that's not true !

Uchinaguci ( Okinawan language ) is a japonic language derived from Proto-Japonic and is therefore related to Japanese . The split between Old Japanese and the Ryukyuan ( known today as Okinawa ) language has been estimated to have occurred as early as the first century . When Ryukyu was annexed by Japan in 1879 the majority of people on Okinawa Island spoke Okinawan of course but within ten years the Japanese government began an assimilation policy of Japanization where Ryukyuan languages were gradually suppressed . The education system was the heart of Japanization where Okinawan children were taught Japanese and punished for speaking their native language being told that their language was just a " dialect " 😏😏😏 in 1945 many Okinawans spoke Japanese and many were bilingual so during the Battle of Okinawa some Okinawans were killed by Japanese soldiers for speaking Okinawan . . . But guess what ? It’ll never fade !!! With all the respect , but . . . It is our language and not a dialect and we will never leave it behind , we were , we are and we will always be Okinawan
