Thank you, grew up on Detroit St and you brought back memories. Caught a lot of fish in Harrison Park. Looking forward to using it next year to connect with family still in South Lake County.
The line looks like its coming along nicely. I live close to the new 173rd station in Hammond by Hohman and might make use of that station to commute to Chicago once the line goes live. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for sharing this video. As a railfan of the former Monon, I am sad that a substantial portion of the railroad was abandoned. The fate of the Monon was sealed when it merged with Louisville & Nashville. I am glad that the right-of-way in your video is once again being used for rail transportation. Do you happen to know how many miles of the right-of-way are being returned to an active rail line? I hope you will consider making a Part 3 video when the line opens to the public. Again, thank you.
Remember the Monon Railroad. "Up and down the Monon, everything is fine, cuz that rootin' tootin' Monon, she's a Hoosier line! All aboard, all aboard! It's my Indiana home I'm a-headin' for!"
@@djc517 I think eventually again they're going to have to double track here as well as what they did the main line between Gary and Michigan City IN. Especially if ridership warrants it! I'm disappointed that there's only 1 track. They should install 2 tracks!
Not enough daily commuters from Dyer, Munster, St. John to justify the expense. No where near enough. Majority of the once daily commuters to the Loop now work hybrid, only going into their Chicago office two or three times a week.
Thanks for the tour. The project has come along faster than I expected.

Love those Southern Pacific horns.
Excellent video (subscribed)! It is nice to see detailed Photographics to the Indiana expansion project.
@@alfredindy8058 thank you!
Thanks for the tour. All the government money poured into this project to up grade the system, and they still used wooden ties instead of concrete.

Around 7-8 miles of former Monon will be reinstalled.
Excellent video
Thank you very much!

I think eventually 2 tracks will be needed as the ridership increases.
Can you please keep us posted on updates because google maps ain't updating the area
Of course! I will probably be back there in the summer or fall.
Only 1 track planned for this new line? I sure hope sooner or later there will be a second track added as the ridership increases.
Yep

Ridership will determine if adding another track is necessary.
Is that line going to be electric or diesel?
Electric
@@djc517 That's good to hear.

Give it time.
Hence the single track.
