The way he uses the cymbals through some of his really fast fills is quite distinctive. I remember hearing Blind Eye Halo for the first time and going "Whoa..."

that was pretty sweet. he's got amazing technique and everything like that.crazy fast, really smooth at most place, pretty good little grooves, good technicality. i already know he's an amazing drummer, but that solo was just alrite.

@chrima777 the kit has some bronze cymbals that are triggered. I can't remember the name of the cymbal for the sake of me though. the samples of each drum sound are from toontrack
No wonder this guy is in like 5+ bands, he's just epic. He fits whatever niche he's needed for and he obviously loves what he does. Definitely one of my favourite drummers!
the only reason the sound cuts out once and a while is cause the electric kit can't register all the crazy stuff he's doing...it needs to take a breather every once and a while
@deathencasedimmortal Matt greiner is a crazy drummer! but he has nothing on dirk.. the thing about dirk's stuff is that even if you cant play it at the same speed, you get the importance of groove in metal music, as well as in general. thats a rare quality that dirk has, making a beat sound groovy at 220 bpm as opposed to sounding mechanical..
This guys good at what he does, but one of the best around?? Come on people open up to some other drummers who think collectively when it comes to all drum styles. Thats a good drummer. Elliiot Hoffman, Travis Orbin, Gil Sharone, Gavin Harrison, and John Merryman are all fine examples.
O.o what happened to one of his drumsticks at 3:10? did he drop it by accident or something? camera just moves down to his feet right at that moment to see it.. nice comeback on it though if he did drop it.. xD

What library he use? Superior drummer or DKfrom hell? Nice sound and no delays. Drum set - Hart Dynamics, but E-Cymbals - worst electronic cymbals ever!!!
Yeah after a month or two of listening to fast heavy metal (like soilwork) your internal timing gets good enough to understand the fast stuff so it doesn’t just sound like a blur

@pooperscoopr69 Watch the dudes studio footage. This guy has some true skills man. He does have polyrhythmic expression. Maybe not in this video...but hes definitely better than you and probably chuck norris...and I don't know if you know this, but that's for the win buddy.
