- We depart from St. Martin in our 1990 Hunter Passage 42 monohull sailboat to commence our west to east transatlantic passage to the Azores, Portugal Islands. It's early on in our passage and we take you along days 1-3 where we've already lost our buddy boat, our IridiumGo mail is not working and we're sending marine flares.

I like the blue can (Pepsi). 😊
I know it’s not a laughing matter, but I couldn’t help but laugh.
“What do I do?”
“Don’t point it at your face.”
😂😂
Good for you Travis. Important pointers first.
Even though I knew the chamber was empty, I still screamed at my phone, “no, No, NO!”
Lol! Don’t blame you. But he got the msg across!
One of my favorite parts of the video. lol
Great first episode for the crossing!
😁happy you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
You guys have come so far. Crossing the Atlantic 🤙Fair winds and following seas.
It’s been wild! Thanks for watching 😊
Greetings from Europe. Embarking on new adventures is always exciting, but it also means departing from familiar surroundings. That's what makes life at sea so interesting. Wish you all the best.
Each day is something new and we certainly love that aspect of it!
Thank you😄
Safe trip.
Thanks Arthur!
Great start...glad you got reunited with your buddy boat... a great thing to have someone else to be able to call for help should you (or them) get into trouble out there.
We do enjoy the solitude out here, not seeing anyone for miles but it definitely gives us peace of mind to know someone isn’t too far away!
It's great to see this next chapter begin for you, great video! Fair winds from SV Jura - Bayfield, Ontario.
🇨🇦 😁
You guys are living the dream. Thanks for bringing us along
Thanks for watching!😃
Good for you guys having a great sail on the first few days. Will be wonderful to have that continue. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
Things are off to a great start!
Great day to jump offshore! Good choice, keeping a reefed main. Personally headed to Azores from Hilton Head on 6/20, perhaps meeting up in Horta.
Fair winds and following seas!!
A great start. Hope it continues for you!
Nice going guys, cheers
hope everything is going well for you guys ❤
Hi guy's. Have Never followed anyone Trans Atlantic or anywhere else.
Super Cool. Really looks like a dream. We'll stay tuned.
Happy to be your first!! 😆 thanks for watching!
Great update! Thanks for sharing! Good to see and have proof of the capability of this Hunter. Fair winds! ❤️
Travis really has the sailors language down. Don’t know if I could ever do that. 🤷🏻♀️
Nice videos you prepared. I will have the same route in May,2023 and kindly request you send your real route on the map if possible.
been following you guys since the beginning, and am super impressed your tackling the big crossing! Way to go! Greetings from Sidney BC , Canada eh:)
Love all your content!
😃
Super awesome! Love BC, Travis is born and raised there🇨🇦😁
Great video. The great Atlantic crossing begins
Good story telling. Hopefully you have some Pains Weesex Solas rocket flares and smoke onboard.
Your going to need a shirt in the Mediterranean.!
Love the video But Please…Never point anything that shoots anything at anytime anywhere other than in the direction you intend to fire. It’s just good practice. Always treat even a flare gun as if it’s always loaded!
Totally agree! too Canadian lol🤣🤣
Come on
I noticed that you are using a long safety line along with your PFDs when going out of the cockpit. James on Zingaro interviewed John Kirschner, a world-recognized safety expert that introduced the newest theory on "not falling overboard". You might like to check it out. It is very sensible. It promotes "never falling overboard".
Thanks! Will have to check that out
Great fun Great start love you guys
😊
This is great! Love watching your channel.
So far so good! Thanks for joining along for the ride!
Hi Steph and Travis,
Loved this one!! Hope you guys made it safe and the rest of the journey was as smooth! I love your intro, honestly it’s catchy and gets stuck in my head every time I watch an episode!! Haha You both radiate such positivity. Steph honestly how does your hair look that good while crossing an ocean?!
Amazing videography. Love you guys ❤️
-Nakailla Poole xoxo
Aw thanks so much Nakailla! Makes us so happy to hear! Thanks for watching 😊😊
St. Catharines here . Been Watching your RUclips site since the start. Love it and you both. But this ? This is BIG. Looks like fun, you should have called me. I would have come running to be a extra deck hand. LOL. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay Happy. And enjoy every minute of your exploration of our world. P.S. Yeah, that St. Kitts.
We know THAT St kitts! 🇨🇦 Awesome to hear you’ve been with us since the start! And right?! we just took baby steps 😂😂
We just hauled out at Clarke’s Court Grenada and are staying ashore a few days to arrange all the projects for hurricane season. Enjoy your stop in Grenada. Great cruiser community here. Listen on CH 66 international Mon-Sat at 7:30
We were in Grenada last hurricane season! Great community for sure!
From Windsor On
Not stare at it in the face
Curious, have you ever tried jet divers or slip weights (ie. 3 to 4 oz) to get you fishing line down? There are other options. The lure looks good. If you’re using stainless steel line, how much are you letting out? If you tell me how much line you can run and how deep you want to be at a certain boat speed I’m happy to provide some suggestions if you want. Glad to see you two out in the big blue! Cheers 🇨🇦
I think we quit lol. We can’t afford all the lost lures and line anymore 🤣🤣 We have like 3’ of stainless and run out anywhere from 100-200’ depending on the waves. Avg boat speed is about 5.5
If the teather on your PFD can reach the side of the boat , it is too long and unsafe ! It should never allow you to go past the lifeline rails. Having a crotch strap on the PDF is necessary in order to keep the PFD from sliding over your head when you are reaching above your shoulders if you or someone else is trying to pull you out of the water because you didn't have a short enough teather keeping you from reaching the water in the first place ! If you fall off the boat going 5-6 knots in rough seas , there is no way you can pull yourself back on the boat ! You will drag until you drown ! Keep a knife on you at all times !
Damn bro I bet your fun at parties
How long are you in Azores? Where's the next stop? We'll be in the Azores "soonish" (if all goes to plan 🤪)
Schooner Blue Dragon.. Fellow Canadians eh 😎
I would save ur old flares for use against pirates ,I have several hundred on my boat
Oh wow! That’s tons!
Who’s the buddy boat? Atticus2 is out there someplace sailing from NC USA
You guys seem to be doing a great job so far. The first few days of a long passage are always the hardest and your crushing it . I have a question , are you using a swivel on the leader of your lure ? Sometimes less is better . A swivel may scare off a fish , you want the lure to look as natural as possible . Also try using a Palomar knot . They are proven to be the strongest knot when tying on a lure .
Yeah we have a swivel, but makes sense! Thanks for the tip!
Don't keep using your flair gun . My husband did the same thing with his expired flairs and the gun cracked
Cool story
I wonder *why I watch JibSea?* I watch some sailing channels and tend to watch those with mainly build, rebuild/refit or maintenance content as I need to learn more stuff for my own rebuild, and documentaries of far off cultures and nature, while the bikini, freediving, spearfishing and those who can broaden my sailing knowledge channels are a good second. On the other hand, pure sailing from A to B with frequent updates on weather, speed, watch/sleep complaints, parties with pink drinks, provision in strange 'tiendas', and what we eat channels are _utterly boring._ So why JibSea? Is it the _model hunk?_ That freaks me out being a hetero male ...
Lmao. We like to think we include bits of everything - comes with the whole boat life thing but whatever your reason, we’re happy you’re watching!!😜
