    First off, thank you so much for making this video. Out of the DOZENS of Canon R5C videos out there, this setup made the most sense for a lightweight battery rig solution…
    Oddly enough, I rigged the PD handle successfully along the same Kondor Blue cage for R5C successfully!
    When left on a table to stand, however, but not a deal breaker. The handle sits lower so it’s not perfectly flat, but the NATO fits!

      I did report the mismatch to Tilta at the time of recording the video and they were indicating, that they would be open to revising their NATO mount, so I have to assume, that they've done that.
      I do agree, that it's probably the best way of making a lightweight R5 C setup for video.

    Sharing is caring. No doubt others have bumped into similar/same mis-matches. I'm glad this didn't turn into having to use a Dremel tool to machine any metal. Just need to try different adapters to get the right fit.

      Well. I always try to find a solution with available bits and pieces first. Not everyone is prepared to get the drill out :)

    Thank you very much. I love your videos :) I’ve small rig cage because kondor blu cage is really difficult to find in Spain.

      Similar issue for me, as I'm in Ireland. I did get mine from B&H. They have a service, where you prepay customs and they take care of all the paperwork. The Kondor Blue cage is very difficult to find in Europe.

    Glad to have seen this video. I use a Smallrig black mamba cage, so thank you for pointing out the nato rail problem. I'm still undecided as whether to get this or not. I would be interested to know how long the battery lasts shooting 4K 60p XF-AVC, as I generally like to shoot in that mode.

    this is one of the only reviews on this specific PD handle, seriosuly thank you for taking the time to explore the pros and cons 👏 seriosuly hope this NATO issue doesn't become popular. specs indicate the PD handle to be equalivent to ~3.5x LP-E6, in your tests/shooting, you find this to be valid or not quite that much? thanks so much, helping out a lot of us trying to decide if it's worth the $200+ for this.

      Yes. The handle is worth the money. And from reports of viewers, Tilta might even have revised the NATO clamp since the making of the video to make it more tolerant.

    Hi! Is this Handel will work with Sony FX3?

    How much run time do you get record an 8K 60 with this handle?

    • @Digi20
      @Digi20 2 месяца назад

      camera takes around 16-18ish watts when recording, so this would be around 2,5hours depending on lens and conversion losses for a 50Wh battery.

    IS this only for video or can be used for photos?

    • @EmeraldAudiovisual
      @EmeraldAudiovisual  Год назад +1

      It can most certainly also be used for photos, but the R5 C very much behaves like the R5, when it comes to photos (and power consumption). Maybe even better due to lack of IBIS. So for stills you generally get well along on standard batteries. Once you find them limiting, this is a great solution for that, opposed to the battery grip.

    Thanks for this video, unfortunately I saw it after ordering the handle. I use a Smallrig cage and Smallrig nato rails, so this did not work for me. I think they should be called out for this as they are advertising a standard connection, but it only works on their cages. I have emailed support with a video I made demonstrating this to them. If they come back and say it’s proprietary than I will reach out to b&h to have them change description to help others not purchase this handle unless they have a tilta one. It’s a shame because it would be a great product otherwise. Thanks again.

      I picked up a tilta nato rail to add to my Smallrig cage and now the handle attaches with no issue. Would be good for them to add that bit of info in description so people don’t think it’s universal.

    Typical, It’s a drag that there are some accessories I wanted from Tilta, but they are now doing proprietary nato real clamps on some of their new accessories, making it a lotto if it will work… I think Smallrig are nailing the filmmakers’ Lego market because everything is standard nato, 1/4 20 an 3/8.

      I've seen similar issues with Smallrig, when it comes to for example Manfrotto mounting plates, but it's less common with Smallrig for sure.
