    This wasn't that long ago. But man, this is real basketball. The game had depth. Today, it's all about who can knock down the most three's. This was the peak of the game.

    This is the kind of NBA basketball I love, playoff atmosphere with the floor logos, full on crowd, low scoring full on grind. Today, you win games by getting open 3s and layups, teams today can score 90-100 after 3 quarters. Back then, you won by rebounds, defense, athleticism and a strong center.

    • @dewman7477
      @dewman7477 4 года назад

      @Marie Madison he can't because MJ has more ppg and better PER and efficiency. Kobe has more career points but he took more games and more shots on lower efficiency to do it. Also MJ was the leader of the Bulls in all 6 rings with 6 FMVP and 6 regular season MVPs. Kobe only has 1 regular season MVP and 2 FMVP even though he won 5 rings because of Shaq. Kobe is leader of most missed shots. How is Kobe better than MJ? He's great but at best he's top 10. No way he's better than LeBron or MJ or Kareem

    • @dewman7477
      @dewman7477 4 года назад

      @Marie Madison MJ not in the TOP 10!!!!!!!
      You should stop watching basketball. MJ is the GOAT of basketball. No debate here unless LeBron wins 3 more rings and 3 more FMVP which is unlikely at this point.
      You're just a MJ hater and cannot disprove MJ from his throne as the GOAT. No way LeBron is better legacy wise. The guy got obliterated in 2014 Finals and choked 2011 Finals as the favorite. Lol MJ didn't lose as the favorite

    • @dewman7477
      @dewman7477 4 года назад +1

      @Marie Madison I actually like seafood and hate Chinese food lol. I get that you have an opinion just like me. But yours is in the extreme minority (< 1%). Majority of people say he's the GOAT and his individual stats and accolades along with his championships support that. Where is your evidence of why MJ is not even in top 10, let alone the GOAT? It's hard to disprove MJ as GOAT. Name a player that has more individual accolades and records than MJ? And combine that with championships and mental toughness and clutch in the brightest lights? There is no NBA player that has everything that MJ has done individually and collectively in NBA history. That's my evidence.

    i feel like I haven't watched REAL basketball since these years... Nowadays it's just a screen and 3 point bombs game and that doesn't seem right.. No post moves, no mid range jumpers. Maybe it's because everyone in these finals games was mainly from the 90's where they keep the culture of the MJ's and the Olajuwons.. But hey that's just me

      @unknownghost8128 7 лет назад +18

      i know what you mean, I haven't seen an old school post up guard like mj since kobe retired. (Derozans trying to bring it back slowly). The 3 point threat has dictated the entire game to the point where 2 pt jumpers off screens are basically extinct, post ups usually end in a kick out for 3, and cuts to the basket aren't as common. I feel like the warriors are ruining the game of basketball, since they can just pull up for a 30 feet shot on a fast break. Basketball just isn't what it used to be man...

      Rashar Banks You tripping when Lebron played with team mates that were good he always takes the hardest defensive task. He did back when he played with wade coach spo called him 1-5 stop it, when he played with kyrie he guarded kd which lead to kd makin those shots. Even now with ad before the season went down when someone got hot Lebron was the one stepping up to guard them (except Russ but that’s bc AD was holding him I wouldn’t switch either) the only time he ran was on that bum 17-18 cavs team bc he had to be the offense be real. Go back and even look at his first run with cavs he guarded pierce on those bum ass teams and along with McGrady and the other small forwards of the 2000s era. And he didn’t guard the best player last season bc that team sucked too Nd he was trying to mold some defenders plus that’s how coaches coach. Keep ur best player fresh for offense and find him another elite level defender. Nigga look at Scottie and mike. Scottie usually guarded the best player like magic in the 91 finals. So stop talking out yo ass

    Were these Celtics teams among the best defensively in the history of basketball? This defense is incredible Kobe Bryant was just willing shots in the basket and his team could not guard pierce letting him get wide open mid range shots and no help on drives to the rim. I also feel like this killed big guy basketball too. The interior defense is just too good. Ron Artest and Radmonovich being the only two shooters just can't spread this defense out. That basically just left it up to Kobe.

    I am a huge Kobe fan but I have to admit that the Warriors are far superior than this Lakers team. The Lakers are too slow. Gasol and Bynum literally cannot defend any elite perimeter player in switch. Artest is too slow to guard Lebron or Durant. Fisher is always exposed by other point guard. Their team defense is so inconsistent and sloppy. Their bench players are not reliable. They don't have good 3 point shooters either. Kobe really carried that team single-handedly to win 2 championships. The game really evolved now.

      @kylerharpe9425 8 лет назад +4

      ***** Yes he did do this and I'm not trying to degrade what he did because this finals win was probably better than any of Kobes, BUT I think people tend to forget about brons past. Lets be real, bron should have 1 ring right now... Ray Allen saved his ass and there is no denying that. Then he wouldnt have won this year without an overall choke from GSW... btw bron also had more help this series than kobe did without shaq.

      ***** Last year proved Bron couldnt win without kyrie but you look back in kobes 3 rings without shaq the best players he had was pau gasol or d-fish. I think its safe to say that Kyrie is a little better than them but thats debatable.

      You don't get any help if you don't share the ball. Kobe was hogging the ball at a certain point of the game and that can work but it doesn't work as well when you're playing against an elite team. Plus hogging the ball always makes your teammates cold.

    People hating Paul for not kissing lebron's a**, here's the reason why, he played against Kobe in the biggest stage within this historic rivalry!!! Although Pierce had battles with Lebron from 08- 12, he was no longer in his prime the last 2 meeting they had. Lebron may have the edge on kobe as the better all around player but Kobe had supreme competetiveness. The era after pierce may have regarded Lebron as the superior player but during Pierce's era they all remebered how they battled Kobe.

    One thing I cannot understand is how Pierce become a elite scorer. I think he does not have much athleticism and his shooting posture is not very standard. His vertical is common. Is that all because of his strength?

    • @Crunchysopa52
      @Crunchysopa52 5 лет назад +2

      he had very nice handles albeit not flashy ones, a natural in the post up and triple-threat positions, a great pull up J too along with great footwork. great off pindowns, great patience, lots of trickery and deceptive strength. he could also hit the 3.. so that's how he was an elite scorer for his career.

    • @mildyproductive9726
      @mildyproductive9726 5 лет назад +1

      He can read and manipulate his defender and he has a quick shot. A lot of guys are quick enough get a shot off most of the time. But PP has Mayweather reaction speed and mental quickness. He's 2 steps ahead. Mayweather didn't need but 3-4 moves to beat anyone. Neither did PP. PP could create and watch for his opening and he knew what the defender was gonna do before they even did. It doesn't matter if the defender knows exactly what PP is gonna do; he ain't fast enough to stop it. Think Carmello or PG13, but with icewater in his veins when it mattered. You contest all you want, it don't bother him. He's 2 steps ahead. He knows that hand is gonna come up 2 inches short. He figured that out an hour ago, before the defender even decided to jump... and he is concentrating on his shot going in without a worry in the world.
      PP wasn't just a scorer. He was clutch AF. He consistently made good decisions to close out games. You don't see highlights of PP heaving up a desperation shot (that happened to go in) after things went wrong. He didn't resort of pushing off to get space for the last shot. He didn't try to draw a tic tac foul. PP got the shots he wanted when he wanted, and there was no defender or ref that would decide the game. He was 2 steps ahead, esp in crunch time. With the last shot, game on the line, PP don't put up an airball. Kobe and Harden have 20x as many airballs in this situation.
      If you just watch random highlights and footage, I can see where you would get that impression. That he's nothing special. But if you watch him actually win games, you will see his greatness. When the entire stadium and defense knows what he's gonna do... and he consistently delivers under the spotlight.

    • @theclassicmanila-style8435
      @theclassicmanila-style8435 Год назад

      He would have been more celebrated if he played today, people nowadays marvels at step back jumpers, hesi , and contested pull J's/3s, among the elite wings at that time Pierce more often goes deep in his bag of tricks since he doesnt have the natural explosiveness like Kobe, Tmac and Vince. All espn and sportcenter cared at that time were dunks and ankle breakers. But of course people in boston knew what they had in Pierce, never started in an all star game but the coaches knew he's an all star hence 10 all star nods. Never making the all nba team in 03-05 despite getting to the playoffs with an ever changing line up tells you how the nba has disregarded him in his prime. Think of how Luka scores in today's game , calculated moves, doesnt rush and plays in his own pace.
