    Always appreciate videos on the old turbo Fords. My brother and I both have LX Mustangs with transplanted 2.3T engines. As far as changing T5 fluid, I believe you can use a funnel with a long hose and gravity refill easily from the engine compartment.

    Great video, I would like to get another factory stock SVO. My 85 has highly modified, with a 351w, TKO 500, 8.8 -3L55, and a lot more. These cars are awesome in my opinion. There just a little hard to find affordable parts for. 😊

    People service the rear ends on their cars??? Looks like the car you bought is a great candidate for a complete go through and replacement of all fluids. Looking forward to seeing this thing on the road!

  • @oneninerniner3427
    @oneninerniner3427 Год назад

    Good stuff Tony! I betcha it is the traction lok clutchs are sreeching n chattering, new lube & friction modifier should do it. You might need to drive it in circles for a bit to get the new fluid worked into the clutchs. You need a suction gun for adding & sucking out fluids, they work good especially for tight areas like that trans fill. They kinda look like a grease gun, but buy a good one, like a lincoln brand, the cheap ones leak. And a set of allen sockets. And some power tools! Ha. I like to tell peoples, i know how to spin bolts, i dont need any more practice! But of course i do it for a living too.

    • @TonysFordsandMustangs
      @TonysFordsandMustangs  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the tip. I agree it's the clutches I think the new fluid and Friction modifier will do the trick. I wanted to all the old fluid out of this car including what was in the tubes so pulling the axles wasn't a complete waste of time. I would bet dollars to doughnuts it has never been changed. I'll look into suction gun. I do have power tools but the are air tools and on camera well they are bit noisy. I could use Allen sockets now that I am getting into newer cars (1986 is newer to me). Most of my toys have been pre 1975 and all have been domestic so I really haven't that much of a need.

    I bought a used demo SVO Silver 1984 LTD LX 4 Dr with the 5.0 Mustang V8 in 1984. It had been in testing by Ford as a training car for NASCAR Racing. Best deal ever! A rocket on wheels. Dual oil sump with 2 drain plugs and a rocker arm around the oil sump. Anyone know the history of the LTD LX models?

    • @TonysFordsandMustangs
      @TonysFordsandMustangs  Год назад +1

      It wasn't so much the geometry as it was the balance, spring rates, & shocks. The 2.3 weighs less than the 5.0 and it sits back in the engine compartment. Adjustable Koni shocks, higher rate springs and bigger sway bars were added to car.
