@@GothiGrimwulff I can imagine! I’ve found bits and pieces of the information all over the place over the course of a year and a half, but this really helped bring it all together. I’ll almost definitely use your guide to the rune meaning along with some of my own (labeled) upg

33:06 Something also to consider about Thurs that also Arith Harger goes into.
Thurs is a term that is related to Giants yes. But there are instances in the original text that use Thurs as an adjective in conjunction with a Giant. A "Thurs" Giant, if you will. There are also men and dwarves that are also referred to as "Thurs", so the term seems to point to a wild person, someone that was not only "outside the fence" but also something of a "Wildling" (Not exactly what they were called, but not very far fetched either.)

That tracks. Especially since "giant" is more or the translators bias. I remember Crawford saying Jotun is closer to "devourer" than Giant. I'm guessing it's a similar bias.
      Good catch 🍻

@@GothiGrimwulff Absolutely. It falls in line with the Antagonistism of the Giants vs the Aesir.

I know this is an old video, but once you got to Galdr it reminds me of oli (chants) in Hawaiian culture. We chant particular things to call upon spirits, ancestors or the gods to help grant us whatever it is we are asking for. A super common one you can look into is E Hō Mai - it's short and the translation says exactly what we are calling upon. I wonder if Galdr was something more along those lines than actual yelling/singing. Especially since oli is very particular in Hawaiian culture to "get it right" - you have to draw from your na'au (literal: gut) which holds your mana (mah-nah, not how you pronounce it for RPGs - mana to put simply is energy that all things have: people, places, things, everything like in animism. You are both born with it and can acquire it; /kinda/ like orlaeg). The power in your oli comes from the power in your mana.
