The first step to teaching this method of fetch is to teach your dog to hold something in its mouth. :) Here's the video: ruclips.net/video/8sRc0XYn0zg/видео.html
@@TheDogVlog we've been working on it a little bit each day, and now my dog can hold a lot of different things around the house :) I've been doing a bit of fetching with some things, but it is harder for him with certain objects. He also has a hard time doing it outside because he gets distracted, but it has been really fun, and I plan to keep working on it :)
my goldens trainer suggested we teach our dogs to fetch items…so i did, then i was hurt in a car accident and my dog having this skill was so helpful, i couldn’t move much and if i dropped something he was there to get it for me. He also would fetch his leash, and his lab brother who wasn’t interested in “helping” 😂….so after he brought his leash we’d say now get polos leash..and he did. Now I have a 1 year old border collie/GSP mix that I want to train this skill, trying to remember how I did it because it was so many years ago, but when you said teach the dog to hold an object it came back to me. This dog wants to fetch a ball all day long…I want to train this because she’s getting into things and instead of prying it out of her mouth, which i’ve had to for safety…i want to fool her and thank her for finding something and encouraging her to give up the treasure locked in her mouth. 😂. plus as i’m getting older this again will be helpful. thanks for th video.
Yes, teaching the hold first really helps a lot. Sorry about your accident. As I get older I find it helpful for them to retrieve items so I don't have to bend or contort myself. ;) It really is a useful skill. :)
Is it too late to teach my dog ? He’s a 2 yr old English bulldog only thing he’ll fetch is and are only his toys nothing else but he knows other commands like get em , paw , bless this liquor bottle and sit also lay down but I’m tryna have him bring me like idk the remote wen it’s too far 😂😂

Take, give, and hold are three separate actions for a dog to take. Seems like a lot to start.
Yes, it’s important to work on one thing at a time in very small chunks. A 2 minute training session can be adequate for one session.
