It makes a lot of sense from an art and story perspective, not so much from a player perspective. Somebody made a RUclips video with all the differences and it's not very long. I liked the game a lot, but not enough to spend 20 hours replaying it for 12 minutes of new content I can watch online.

This is an Old School Survival Horror approach to NG+.
Like Silent Hill and many others in 2000s did for NG+ where changes are minimal but new endings are achievable.
Alan Wake 2 goes extra mile and makes NG+ and its ending a part of the story.

20 hours of this masterpiece, you Talkin as if it is too much? I have over 400 hours in games like binding of Isaac I would gladly play this game again with barely any change to it

That's why I set ng+ on easy and skipped all the irrelevant content like collectibles. The game turned out to be quite short that way

New Game plus is basically Dark Tower by Stephen King. Alan Wake=Roland

The best part of this is that Alan Wake 2 won The Best Narrative Award at Game Awards thus verifying the story actually being good and so rewarding Alan to finally breaking the spiral. It’s perfectly meta for such meta heavy game haha!

I haven't seen the vid yet, will update after watching. But genuenly it was one of the worst new game + experiences in my life. All the gameplay problems weren't solved and the problem of having a boring half of the game you don't really care about is still present. But this time it was a different half... In the first walkthrough Saga's events were more important and relevant to the game, while the Alan part only revealed that Alan was actually scratch; In the second walkthrough Saga's half was boring with little new info dragged down by the gameplay, while Alan half was extremely interesting when you have all the context and try to determine all the layers to figure out what happend in the new york prior to the game(I ended up with the conclusion that nothing of the show actually happend in new york). Also ending suck. Both endings. "Omg, we have to make the ending meaningful and make the mc pay the price, the story is grim so we won't be able to save everyone LET'S USE BULLET MACGAFIN INTRODUCED JUST NOW AND NON LETHALY SACRIFICE ALAN WHICH SAVES EVERYONE." Like they straight up are doing the oposite of what they told themself. I think the dlc will salvage it partially, but It was a double disapointment. Resuming, I had the best single narrative experience in my life replaying Alan's half, And I am kinda happy I replayed the game, but the NG+ sucks on itself. Too little story additions, to gameplay adjustments the game needs gravely.

I guess ye, having to replay the entire game with minimal changes is not that great of a player experience. I think @natewoods4566's comment sums it up pretty well, it made sense from an art and story perspective but not rlly the player's. In regards to the ending however, I thought they were done rlly well. Although, my opinion might also have been swayed by Novacanoo's video on it. I don't think I'd do the video justice if I summarise it here. In case your interested: ruclips.net/video/jiKbP2XtWEs/видео.html, It's a good watch.

People who play new game+ disgust me. Like you don’t do anything withy out life so when you don’t have games to play you just play old ones again. How sad is your life mate.

@@user-zh5lj1ec4k you are just venting to an unrelated person. I played it because the game denied me an ending when I first beat it, which I don't appreciate but decided to see what the author were going with this. How do I do anything to you to disgust you? I bet you are for sure played at least one online game and spent there 10-100x the time it took for me to replay Alan wake 2 twice.
