- My retired horse makes me so proud!! Nita is 20 years old and retired now . She is due her foal in 6 weeks ! 😬. So this little video was taken at a demo in October last year and after this she was only ridden one more time a month later at the horsemanship showcase event where she officially retired 😞. I thought some of you would really appreciate seeing this and considering she was getting stiffer never missed a beat and made me super proud as she always did . Nita is such a brilliant advocate for mares.they get a bad rap for being stroppy, hormonal and sometimes dangerous but she really is one of the smartest, responsive horses av ever watched.a credit to you,Steve 👍
Every mare I have ever had has been amazing. They are so intuitive, I just love them.
When I first started with horses I was once told "you can bully a gelding but have to reason with a mare". On the whole I'd agree with it
I have a wonderful Appaloosa Mare who is a joy to work with, she is kind and very willing to give her all……but I had to earn her respect and she tried to get away with everything at first. She is my first mare, I love her.
Anyone who blames behavior on a horse’s sex or coat color is an immediate red flag from me. Sure, certain behavior can be more expected of certain horses based on their sex or even guaranteed (examples: stallions being interested in mares and mares going into heat) but outside of those few cases every horse is different. I have heard far too many stories of horses with serious issues (medical and behavioral) going untreated because their owner tossed it aside as, “Oh, he’s just being a chestnut,” or, “Oh, she’s just being a mare.”
Steve, Nita is the horse she is because you are the man you are and the relationship you two have is precious and what a world it would be if we could all strive to have this bond with our animals 💕💕💕
Nita is beautiful to watch! You have every right to be proud. Lovely video.
Nita amazes me every time. What a relationship there. Wow.
When this video came up, I thought perhaps Nita had her foal. But her reactions to your requests are magical! Thanks Steve for sharing this amazing, incredible, brilliantly trained miracle horse named Nita. God Bless!!!!

❤ Nita
I rode horses for a guy who raised them when I was a little girl. He sent a horse to a trainer and when tony came back I got to ride him once. He was a palomino Fox trotter and I rode in bareback he followed every command by voice or leg movements. I'm from the Missouri Ozarks, They sold Tony Canadian mounties. He was a beautiful horse
Steve, Nita is an absolute credit to you and you are to her too. Such a beautiful partnership, I’m not surprised you’re so proud of her, she really is a beautiful soul. ❤
This was wonderful to watch, just gorgeous. 🙏🏻
She’s amazing and she’s going to be a great mother ❤️

Amazing skills and such a wonderful horse.
When I was a teenager I had a 14.2 bay mare who was nuts I used to ride her around the field and down the lane bareback and a halter she would never have done me any harm my friends wouldn't even ride her tacked up trust is a big thing.
Nita, so smart, so gorgeous 💞
She's going to be a very good Mommy, wise beyond her years.
She’s just lovely, Steve, and such a tribute to you.

I find it difficult to watch other channels, now because I always think, "Oh, Steve wouldn't do it that way!" lol God bless you and your family, 4 legged family included.♥

Awesome demo of cowboy dressage! 🙂
❤❤
I wonder if these horse training techniques can be applied to children?! lol … actually, many of them can. Between you and Cesar Milan, there is a great parenting book waiting to be written ❤
She is soooo lovely. Would love to know how we can learn this?
Some of his other videos he shows how to get the saddle cues from the ground first. Definitely worth subscribing to watch his members only videos.
You have probably explained this many times but i haven't seen it. Why do you use a hand tied halter rather than the buckle on halter many horses wear.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is she going to be a mommy?
6 weeks
BTW this was 10-23

Six weeks until Nita is
bred? Six weeks until
Steve tells us about his plan?
Six weeks what?
@@jodyhuston1516 in 6 weeks she will have her foal
This looks like Blackpool??
Steve, many harness horses will respond similarly to Nita. It is certainly something to be proud of, yet I wonder how much she is going off your body and how much off your voice? Since you say out loud what you are doing, as you ask her to perform the task, could she be like a well trained and responsive harness horse going on the voice?
What happened to Rolex?
Do you ride Bitless? No Bit
Anita is so responsive,,,so why do you wear spurs???
Please lay off the noise reduction. One thing you can do is mix a bit of the live sound back in.
I love a lot of what you do, but breeding a mare at that age... can't put a good reason to it. That's going to be hard on her.
