Here in the Philippines the formulation of Palmolive Bar soaps smells good and moisturizing particularly the one that has Olive oil and Aloevera, although not as moisturizing like dove, but definitely worth the money.
Palmolive from India, Canada, Mexico and Phillipines/SE Asia is a much better formulation than the US version. The first ingredient listed on the US version is sodium tallow, while everywhere else the first two ingredients are palm and olive.
Very classic old fragrance from Givaudan. An old French fragrance house dating back to the late 18th and 19th century in Lyon. The firm later moved to Switzerland in 1848. This is nearly identical to the scent used in many of Palmolive Men's shave products for men in the UK and EU. Everyone likes something different I suppose, but if he could recommend which toilet cleaner smells like this; I would most certainly buy it!
I forgot to mention, this is the identical fragrance used in the MUCH pricier Penhaligon's English Fern soap for men, which I believe were discontinued.
Kinda a shame because Palmolive has been available as a soap since like 1917 or something. It was a true palm and olive oil castile soap back in the day and I believe it was one of the top ones. the vintage magazine advertisements from the 20's are really firm on its green color coming from the olive oil.
I've been using this particular Palmolive bar soap for years. It's actually one of the few bar soaps that doesn't bother by very sensitive skin. So I figure why give up a good thing. My local Dollar Tree has them and buy $3.00 dollars worth (9 all together) to last a sufficient amount. .
@@yoleeisbored if someone has sensitive or dry skin a little bit more expensive is necessary. I can't use cheap soaps like Ivory or Irish Spring. Dove is the best cheaper product
Palmolive Dishwasher Detergent and Dish Soap is AWESOME. Used it for years and it does a good job. The bar soap however dries my skin out like no other!
I tried this soap recently. It wasn't too bad imo. Small, doesn't lather very well, but I found the smell to be mild. It smells exactly the same as their dish soap.
Just bought a pack for the very 1st time. Was looking for a new different winter season to use soap bar.Still have the receipt to return(probably exchange for Jergens mild soap pack).
Whaaaattt! Actually, I like the smell! In my younger days, I would visit Mexico often and would buy the Mexican Palmolive because it had a stronger fragrance than the US variation,...you might relate palmolive fragrance to bathroom smell because that's where the open palmolive bars are left in the shower or on the vanity? Anybody going to Mexico, I will appreciate it if you bring me back 5-10 bars, the large ones please!
Well it's real soap, not a detergent bar with moisturizer like Dove. This stuff actually dissolves dirt unlike dove. Very much like Jergens, Ivory and Kirks (brands you are not very fond of...), Palmolive is simple soap and will burn your urethra. So if you want to really get rid of your funk use real soap. If you got "sensitive" skin use your Dove and stay funky. PS: Palmolive scent is not very strong and it is made by Givaudan. You just happen not to like it. Overall a very unfair review.
I recently found a bar of dial under my sink , the package just says its dial thats it , the box was all white with dial in the middle. So I gave it a try and it was the worse bar soap I've ever experienced, dried out my skin , smelled very overpowering, took forever to lather
I just took a shower with this. I like the smell. I have oily skin, so I like that the soap doesn’t leave a moisturizing film on me. I have to admit though that I am a little itchy now in certain places. Kinda wish I’d have watched this video first. 😂
Ok if you would arrange from not as worse to worst, what would you go for? Dial basics, Palmolive or Costco soap? (Or other soap you’ve considered bad)
Possibly he could've gotten a bad batch or different products work differently for different people. I don't always like the products that he gave good ratings.
actually, the latin americaj version of palmolive bar soap isn't as bad. I think they're made in Mexico or something. some walmarts sell the pack of soap. the packaging is NOT the same. you can google palmolive central america.
That's one of the things I've learned that not all soaps are formulated the exact same across countries , apparently Dove soap is different from region to region.
Huh...I haven't used Palmolive in a long time, but it's hard to believe it could've gotten that bad in the interim. A lot of the difference between soaps is attributable to the perfumes, which stink to some people and can produce allergies in certain people too, giving an impression of skin drying (actually a mild rash) while to everyone else they're just fine. This one used to be a big supermarket brand in the USA pitched for all-family use as a non-floating competitor to Ivory, and is much older than the 1950s date given in the video, but has sunk to where it seems to show up only at discount stores in the USA now. It was never a high lather soap, but it didn't lather as poorly as indicated in the video either. The bar soap is obscure enough in the USA now (though not in some other countries) that it's been eclipsed by the more recent companion hand (and now machine) dish detergent liquid by that name. The soap is still made partly of palm oil, but apparently have the right to go on using the "olive" in the trademark long after they eliminated the more expensive olive oil from their formula.
It's likely that in the USA, Irish Spring is made from the same soap stock as Palmolive, just with different color & fragrance. Seems they gave up on their earlier deodorant version of Palmolive (Palmolive Gold/Palmolive Plus), probably when hexachlorophene was disapproved as an active ingredient for that purpose, and decided to go with a strongly perfumed soap instead, introducing it as Irish Spring.
well if that's the case Palmolive as its sold today may not be around in US markets much longer ..I hear some dollar stores sell Dove soaps these days and if consumers are primarily concerned with price they'll lean towards Ivory .. Did you ever work in the soap Industry?
I have heard of that happening with different products before , kind of annoying for me because people using what appears to be the same product in different countries will have vastly different experiences when compared to mine.
No Americans have higher standards and we are spoiled. Now my ex girlfriend mom used this shit I tryed it and went work and some one asked if I just got done cleaning the bathroom :-)
its a soap i use just for a change once or twice a year...not a go to soap for sure. i like the aroma however.never burned me either...maybe you should see a doc about the burning?
Ive never had this soap burn me or anything. It lathers better then Ivory and is about the same when it comes to moisturizing which is to say it doesn't have much of.
I'm try my best not to laugh especially at the rub rub and rubbing part . Which one is worst the Kirkland fake dove bar or Palmolive both of them got the bird lol
+BarSoap Guy the double bird lol thanks for making my night and a good laugh after a hard day at work:) thank you for doing request can't wait to see more videos from you . Dang and here I thought Kirkland's soap was the worst reviewed. At least you can give the Kirkland to the prisons to show them the error of their ways LOL.
Aww, that's disappointing. Their almond milk & blueberry dish detergent is my favorite variety of dish soap. If not for this video, I might never have known they made a bar soap.
Lol! I bought a pack of this soap at my dollar tree just to use at the bathroom sink. Yeah, I only like bar soap even at my sink. I figured ok, it’s cheap as dirt, but I’m sure it will at least be ok for washing my hands at the sink. I was wrong. In like two days, my hands were like withered old cheap leather. That bar had to go in the trash. They have nerve even putting it on the market, honestly.
+jatea LOL!!! Wow they are taking you to the cleaners (slang for taking advantage of you ) ....at around a buck twenty that's the cost of one bar of dove soap...
Well first in a polite way tell her to wash her ass, go to a dollar store and getter one of every kind, be sure to include some instructions. If that don't work clothes pins will, but they have to plastic ones, wooden ones will just absorb stank and make it worse. That might work.
These reviews crack me up. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What?? You must have bought a fake soap. The one I have gives an amazing lather and it smells really good!!

The Palmolive bar soap sold in Latin America is actually rather good. I like using it. It’s different in quality from the one sold in the US

The palm olive "naturals "the big bars made in Mexico are so wonderful compared to the ones sold in our local stores in card board boxes.
Luckily for me I'm near the border so there's a good chance I'll get to try them the next time I'm in Mexico.

Some soaps under the same brand name can have VERY different formulas between countries. Plus, many of them change formulas over time.
dont you think its extra to say you would spit in the persons face if they gave the soap to you
