As much as the series got away from it, I really do like the sports rivalry energy between Homestar and Strong Bad. Like Homestar is just competent enough to piss Strong Bad off and that's what keeps the hate train rolling.
However I wish that rather than letting Homestar win by cheating or Strong Bad win by not cheating that much, I think that it would be funnier if the umpire struck BOTH teams out! Why is it that my ideas never make it to the website?
This is my favorite later-years toon. "Competition" toons between Strong Bad and Homestar are always just so funny. I love the umpire and the twist at the end and the montage of the kickball sounds concluding with Strong Sad hitting his paunch and it making a kickball sound.
Or at the very least the guy's such a terrific athlete he knows how to win even when given the huggest disadvantage. I mean when you still pull out a win against 8 people with a team of two and have it specifically end using your one other guy you specifically called in a matter that is covered by your own oppostion having tried to previous cheat that's how you know you have skill.

For some reason, when I saw it mentioned on the wiki, I thought it was a DVD exclusive.. then I forgot about it even after getting the DVDs. and it was never on the 'click this button to watch a random toon' rotation, so it was ages til I actually saw it.
Are you referring to the ref or Pom Pom? Because if it’s the former, don’t blame you. He only showed up enough times to count on one hand. But if it’s the latter… you haven’t watched enough Homestar.

Same here, I love this one. I still say "on the contraire" and "Aww, the ding and the dang!" pretty regularly.
