Whoa! It’s amazing how something so simple can be so hidden from my old gray cells. Thank you for this tip!
Yes the sacrificial fence was really working and very accurate cut. Thank you so much for sharing the info!
Thank you for posting this. Amazing tip and would have helped me greatly on a project a week ago when I needed just a sliver of a cut. But I’ll try next time on the next project. Love your videos, Cheers!
I always used the push into the blade prior to cutting but your tip is much better. Learned something new, thanks!
Jon, I just want to thank you for your free plans. That’s a real plus for a beginner like me. Thanks again.
Where are these “free” plans? Everything on the site costs money.
Thanks Jon, I look forward to your teaching - one of the best
Sacrificial fence. Learned something new again. Thanks.
Love the moulding details on that bookcase Jon!
Awesome straight forward explanations as always. Thanks Jon!
Thanks Jon.. sacrificial fence is incredible
That tip is GOLD! Thanks Jon!
Always the master of miters!
Thanks, Jon. This is gold.
Great tip! Because of some of your other videos? I hate my miter saw A LOT less. 👍
I wish I could 'like' this video more than one single time.
As always, great tip. Thanks Jon!
Thanks for that great tip Jon! That was yet another "Duh, why didn't I think of that" moment!
Always love your videos Jon! Great tip! I will be using it.
I've known that saw blade trick for years but I don't always remember to use it. Thanks for the reminder.
Excellent presentation, thank you!
When I first learned this trick, I really felt like it was a "game changer" in getting consistent accurate results. You could consistently take off the exact same amount until you got the right fit.
Good stuff and as always thanks for the free plans Jon!
I too am someone that now employs the sacrificial fence thanks to Jon.
Jon you are a great human
That's a great tip that I use all the time.
Great tips Jon! Thanks for sharing them with us.👍😎JP
Man, that’s a beautiful cabinet.
Good tip Jon!. Thanks for sharing.

I’m trying this soon!! Love the tips!
Great suggestion
Nice tip and good build
Great tip. Thanks
Great tip Jon!
I love the sound of that friction fit!!
Ha :) me too!
Nice work Jon, great video!
Pretty clever!
The sacrificial fence is truly that great to have
That is a great damn tip, thank you for sharing.
As always very professional and well done 👍👍👍
Routet
Excellent tip!
Thanks Martin
Thanks👍🏻
Great tip! I knew--intellectually--that the cutting teeth (on a saw blade) were very slightly "proud" of the body of the blade, but never thought to take advantage of this fact. Interesting!
My Dad once showed me this trick but his version was to leave the blade down and trim the piece while bringing the blade up when it's running. Thanks Jon for the videos.
I call that the butt & cut, a local to you finish carpenter taught me that almost 20 years ago. I'm out of 08742, digging your content bud keep it up!!!
I have done all the adjustments on my mitre saw and finally am going to do my sacrificial fence. I have been making money building frames for people. I still have to use wood dough on my corners.. I am going to take the time to refine my skills. My question is what blade do you suggest. Thx.
Jon, I have a new house and in the foyer there are bump outs that create a niche. So I have a niche on each side. I want to make the bump outs look like columns and paint them white. So I will have a total of 4 columns. What trim would I use to make them look like columns. Thanks.
Yup, you're still the king of mitres
Amateur here. About to tackle your blanket chest Jon. I've studied the videos, I've got the plans, its go time. Thanks you.
Fantastic! Enjoy the project
I see ur using the Hitachi and not the Bosch..I boxed mine up and returning it. Look fwd to the bookcase vid. And plans looks really nice
Jon uses the Hitachi for miter cuts and the Bosch for for cross cuts.
@@MichaelMoscicki ahh okay only asked cuz last week he told me he uses it for rough cuts (due to deflection) and finishes the cross cut on the table saw sled. Didnt know if he got rid of the Bosch..ik I'm taking mine back all sorts of deflection and other blade and fence issues. Even after adjusting loose the manual sd and watching every yt video out there.lol going with the Hitachi or dewalt.not sure yet.very disappointed in the Bosch returned it 2xs this will be my 3rd.
very nice, what do you use to fill over the nail holes?
Joint compound
Jon, great tip video! How do you handle those MDF edges on the inside of the panels that you're picture framing? That's my 1 issue with MDF...the edges are a pain to sand and paint!
Thanks, yes it really sucks up the first coat basically priming twice And sanding in between coats
@@JonPetersArtHome Thanks for the reply! As a follow up, I don't think you've ever mentioned if you put a clear coat of any kind over your painted cabinets. I am getting ready to build new doors for my kitchen cabinets that will be painted white, but I can't seem to find a clear coat without reviews that say it yellows over time...even the ones that say non-yellowing on the can. Do you think a clear is necessary over white gloss or semi-gloss paint?
Your related to Norm? Amazing work.
Thanks! That’s a huge compliment 👍 appreciate it!
👍👏👏
My problem is the angles. No drywall is a perfect 90 or flat so my joints alway have a slight gap
Go check out this video from Finish Carpentry TV. ruclips.net/video/GcRynzABxHI/видео.html
Hot!
44.7deg everytime filler for the rest 😁
Often referred to as a "spring cut".
Good to know! That makes sense... lol I wish I knew that before I made the video:)
