  • Trade ties and the Ukraine war dominated the agenda in talks between the leaders of Germany and China. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang in Beijing. Mr Xi hailed the cooperation between their two countries, describing it as a guarantee for their stability and the future. Mr Scholz added that he does not want Germany to decouple from China. He also pressed on the issue of the Ukraine war, asking Mr Xi to try to influence Russia to stop the war. Olivia Siong reports.

The problem is more complicated. The high energy prices, caused by Russias attack on Ukraine, lead toa priceshock. Espacally the energy intensive industries, like those producing chemicals suffered from this.
If Germany wouldnt have been that independend on Russian gas, it would have been mouch easier for them.

Mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Germany is not a "risk"
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the industrial and supply chains of China and Germany are deeply intertwined and the markets of the two countries are highly interdependent. Mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Germany is not a "risk", but a guarantee for the stability of bilateral relations and an opportunity to create a future.
Whether it is traditional fields such as machinery manufacturing and automobiles, or emerging fields such as green transformation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence, the two countries have huge potential for win-win cooperation that needs to be tapped. Both sides should carry forward the distinctive characteristics of mutual benefit and win-win, achieve each other's achievements, and China's exports Electric vehicles, lithium batteries, photovoltaic products, etc. have not only enriched global supply and alleviated global inflation pressure, but also made great contributions to the global response to climate change and green and low-carbon transformation.
Both China and Germany are based on industry and both support free trade and economic globalization. Both sides should be wary of the rise of protectionism, adhere to a market perspective and a global perspective, and proceed from economic laws, look at production capacity issues objectively and dialectically, and explore more cooperation. It is also said that China adheres to the basic national policy of opening up to the outside world and hopes that Germany will provide a fair, transparent, open and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises to develop in Germany.

Using logic does not help . EU and UK are too addicted to US to think logically. China needs to stay out of Ukraine conflict and let NATO solve it themselves. EU can always sign mutual protection treaty with China because US is unlikely to go to EU's aid if Russia invades.
