I've been carrying my TX16S around for a month, not in it's protective box, but just in a bag, waiting for a day when I felt like flying. TOnight, I was going to fly & seen that I had broken 2 switches off of the radio. DAMN! So I ordered new switches and while I was ordering, I got the Boxer Crush. I've been curious about the aluminum gimbals and I wanted a smaller radio that will fit in my Torvol backpack.
*Edit: Sorry, I read "with a massive screen." Feel free to ignore the rest of my comment.* Have you seen the Jumper T15? It looks like it's the same size as the Boxer but it has a bigger color touchscreen. I think I'd get a smaller radio (than my TX16S) if the small radio had analog sliders. I want the options to control a couple of servos (or gimbal) using sliders like those on the TX16S. So far, I haven't found any small radios which include analog sliders.
Colors are nice but we need new Boxer with bigger color touch screen :) So we could have interface like in TX16S radio. For these days and trends TX16S is dinosaur and we need replacement in the form of Boxer :) They are forcing me to buy Jumper T15 but I want to stay with RM :)
@@scottmilano2940 I understand, this is the case for FPV quad pilots. Zerro requirements from radio and always in googles. In my case I also fly fixed wing and gliders in line of sight conditions. So I would appreciate flexible user interface for radio to setup complex configurations and monitor telemetry.
Don’t worry. All models will probably be introduced with a color screen, but crappy gimbals, then with good gimbals and a crappy antenna, then good antenna but crappy arm switch, tjen good arm switch but bad battery life, then good battery life but no speaker, then speaker but bad backlight, then good backlight but it beeps constantly, then silent but smells weird, then good smell but doesn’t work on tuesdays, then works on tuesdays but with force feedback that can’t be turned off, then force feedback that can be turned off but too pricey, then cheap but made out of foam, tthen sturdy but with a razor sharp edge that cuts your finger, then perfect but no edgetx support, then edgetx support but elrs is a module…
I've been thinking about getting a boxer for a long time. But since, jumper released the t14 and t15 , and they look like a better option. The only thing that would steer me towards the boxer are the gimbals.
You are right, a color screen like on the TX 16 in a color transmitter box would look good, but for those who are buying their first radio, this will be a good investment, for those who, like me, spent money on the AG 01 to replace the 4.0, it’s painful to see))
@@kolschejung4465I replaced my TX16s with a Jumper T20 (easier to carry, most programming is done in Inav anyway) but now I am very tempted to give the T15 a try
While I wish I'd done more, I'm super tempted to get one of these as a new daily driver and keep my existing Boxer (standard version) as a backup. Not terribly interested in the "Max" version. I was considering getting the AG01's for my Boxer, but with this price I might as well just get a Crush.
They need in this form factor a radio with top sliders and another switch or two. It would open up who would like and use this radio. One quick question. I fly discus launched gliders(DLGs) and often find myself holding the radio just with my left hand. Can you grab the radio only with your left hand and articulate the left stick? Does the palm hit the lower buttons and click them? Thank you for the write up.
Are the upgraded gimbals digital or analog? Also, ELRS only has a resolution of 1024, compared to other radios that have 4096. Doesn't the low resolution effect the latency?
It doesn't affect the latency, no. 10 bit channels were chosen as an acceptable compromise to maintain excellent link budget (range/robustness). Technically it's possible to increase the resolution but I wouldn't hold my breath as it would mean yet more configuration options to deal with.
Bling, bling, Radiomaster can do it perfectly, but positioning a trottle switch in such a way that it is really fast and easy to switch is something Radiomaster just can't get right. The ergonomics of the TX16s were already many times worse than those of my old Spektrum DX8. Hoping that the Boxer would be more ergonomic, I switched to the Boxer and was again disappointed with the trottle cut. I have now ordered the Jumper T15 and hope that this will put an end to my Radiomaster ordeal.
Warranty Void Sticker?!?!?!? That's extremely anti right to repair. Luckily that's not legal here in the USA. Do all their radios have this or is this a new thing for them?
@@animox6303 I think its crazy that knowing they cater to an audience where a significant number of the community build drones from scratch, that they would put such a sticker on their product. I'll give them credit in that I have not heard of a claim denial for breaking one of these stickers but up until this video, I didn't even know this sticker existed on their products. Thanks for verifying and responding to my query @animox6303.
Hey RadioMaster, how about a decent gamepad radio? Zorro is too chunky, screen is too big, and batteries are too small. T-lite doesn't have enough power, X-lite has gimbals that are too small, Tango doesn't have a module bay, elrs, or run EdgeTX. EVERY single gamepad radio has some horrible flaw.
disappointed with this radio, was expecting more for someone who flies quads, wings and helis. Use the zorro, its perfect except i would like a colour touchscreen
I am so upset right now. I'm receiving my rotoriot edition boxer today. That I paid two hundred and sixty dollars for this.Always happens for some reason no winning in this hobby lol
Rather have the 4 in 1 main option adding the ELRS later. That add on option can be modified to 2 watts with a simple computer hack. So as tempted as I am. It’s a no go. Customer rules. Not the manufacturer.
I really regret mine, It's so huge and heavy and uncomfortable to hold without a strap. I'm still looking for a replacement. I wish someone made a light and thin one with big gimbals. I'm considering the jumper t20, maybe the gemini version.
They missed the opportunity to use the foldable antenna similar to the pocket. Takes a lot more space with that antenna.
Yep, agree
True!
Who cares?

We need a Zorro without the massive screen and full size batteries not 3 different versions off existing radios D:

The Zorro screen is hardly massive.
@@lightbulbjim compared to the radio yeah it is. Compared to every gamepad radio the screen is massive.
Just a normal Zorro with 2x18650 or better 21700, and if we're dreaming already, pls 2x1W ELRS Gemini. Or better the new Dual Band 868/2.4 Gemini X 🙂

no, we don't need it 😂
bigger screen = bigger size of controller.
and the size is perfect rn

Color touch screens eat the admittedly huge battery a little faster. I’m happier with the simple b/w screen. I’m in the goggles anyway.

Less money for old rope.
Hey Ian that isn't lime green....it's Mint Mist according to Radiomaster. 😋 Nice review!
Great and detailed review as always! Thanks for all your efforts by informing the community the best as possible!
Hoping you post a latency test with goggles 3 and o3 soon! Thanks, l8ve the channel!!
T15 orderd !
Cheaper and better.
What a wasted opportunity to introduce upgrades to this radio, like a foldable antenna, bigger color screen, better switched (to replace the buttons).
I really like the colours they chose. But not as much as the max!
This could have been a 10sek vid 🤣
Jumper wins this round with real improvement
I'm sure once sales start to slow down RM will introduce yet another incremental improvement. 🤑
Fantastic review, Ian! Thanks a bunch!!! 😃

Good try but sorry RM, jumper own my ❤
It seems odd they didn't colour coordinate the battery cover on the back and just left it black. 🤷♂️
Could you do a video on how to replace a switch?
Do you think they'll sell just the colored?Shell anytime

I don’t know about the T15, but on my T14 I had to change the gimbals to radiomaster hall v4.0 to get more pleasure from rotation.
Jumper T-15 did a better job, especially with the screen.
I do wish they had toggles for arm. I am not a fan of the latching switch, not for arm at least
