I'll admit, trying crappy VR on my 4th gen iPod touch back in the day was what launched my VR obsession in highschool. I didn't have one of these, but I made a cardboard housing, and used one of the layers of lenses from inside a pair of binoculars (the lenses that focus close things further away) to make my homemade viewer. This was around the same time as the original Rift Develpment Kit, so there were a whole bunch of videos on RUclips of people playing games, and they just used the direct split screen video feed in the videos, so that worked for the viewer. That little 4th gen iPod touch is what set me on the path to invest in the Oculus DK2, and then rift, as well as using the Vive and windows mixed reality Headsets... My whole obsession from this concept
commenting on this video 2 years later as I rewatch and I'm now 100% certain that woman is just a photoshopped image from a burger ad where they replaced the burger with their headset.
I had the same kind of thing for the PSP back in the day. Was made from Cardboard and came for free with Metal Gear Acid 2, a kind of Isometric view, turn based, trading card version of metal gear. You could play the game in 3D, or watch cutscenes from the older Metal Gear games and videos of Japanese girls in swim suits that you unlocked, I think by getting certain cards. Was honestly pretty great.
I mean look at the device they're buying. It's gotta be idiot-proof: "It just says it's compatible with the iPod touch, I wonder if it works with my 8GB one!"

I imagine the 160x240 resolution images would look amazing. …this also gives me an idea, I should send some pixelated visuals to my 3DTV and see how trippy it is.

The thing had Super Monkey Ball and a plane game I think, and I still see the app with the fish on my purchased apps! I don’t remember enjoying it since it was a piece of garbage. It was so uncomfortable to use and handle, which is why I got rid of it so soon when I got it. Thanks for the nostalgia rush!
By the way, there's like 15 billion of this same thing for android phones. I currently have a slightly higher end one, but I've also used a bottom-tier one before. They almost always have head straps and my one has built-in headphones. They're actually pretty fun. Not exactly an Oculus but you can literally find them for like 5 Freedom Bucks and there's actually quite a few apps available that work on modern Hi-res phones. I'd say it's totally worth having one just so you can have a home theater.

I used the My3D when the games for it were still in the store. The 3D effect was quite good, although it was quite annoying you had to tap the screen through the little holes in the goggles.
