Exactly. I didn't even see the cat nor the mustache. All I saw was a man who is deeply in love with a girl who's scared/nervous? And their relationship is probably a seceret since he snuck to her window. TL:DR the painting helped me make sure I'm an intuitive.
This is why the educational system is so detrimental to intuitives. I struggled with math because of the method my teacher was using- explaining the procedure briefly and then doing a bunch of exercises on the board after which we would have to make our own. I hadn't even finished understanding the mechanism of the procedures and she was already asking for answers.
Sadly, many intuitives have had the same experience, mostly in K-12. Sensors have their own struggles, though, especially in liberal arts college classes, where most of the instructors are intuitives and offer lots of theories and big picture but not many concrete examples.
Same. One of my professors would always ask me for references when I just present an idea based on my conclusions about certain events or concepts that are being discussed. Appealing to authority is not my kind of thing but I have to do it to graduate smh.
I am a Se dom and have to sit in a classroom for 8 hrs a day and listen to all these things I have no use in my life for.. I wish school was a little more hands on
Sensing types also prefer triggering their emotions through their senses whereas intuitives prefer triggering their emotions through thoughts and fantasies.
this is helpful. I was always an INTJ then recently, my test results show ISTJ and got me confused. Somehow your statement reassured me because my emotions do get triggered commonly through my own thoughts.
@@StarAshleyCruz you're not alone, ISTJs and INTJs are very similar. And tbh most of INTJs are actually ISTJs, the backbone of society. There were couple of times I get ISTJ but mostly I'm INTJ, I hate the stereotype of INTJs being unemotionally cold, intelligent psychopaths 🤓🤓🤓. People who go around saying they're proud of being INTJs are always full of people who are self righteous arrogant edgy assholes.
@@cymonka3492 I agree. Recently I have been studying about cognitive functions as well! It helps to understand mbti better. Those edgy people are just immature intj wannabees. I also took a test (forgot the name of the site too bad but it starts with "S") this site actually shows a breakdown of all types and the percentage of how close you are to them. The ultimate result was intj, followed closely by percentage are: infj, entj then istj. These are often my closest kin or even mistypes, I would say.
I don’t do good in detail oriented jobs (entry level jobs) because I am intuitive and always think of new ways to do things and better ways to do things. Therefore, it’s hard for me to work up the ladder. I eventually started my own business and I’m doing great (infp)
@@KingaMoor I should remove these old comments of mine. My opinions change often as I continue learn and correct my understanding. I've been made aware that MBTI is unsuccessful in its goal to determine 'core personality'. This weak theory doesn't seem to have seen any improvements either. No doubt because it was probably wrong to begin with and cannot deny its critics. However, none of the philosophies surrounding its "traits" have changed for me. This idea that all personality traits are of equal quality is ridiculous. This casual dismissal through "everything is relative" is what leads to foolish conclusions such as reasoning that fecal matter is art, or that genocide is an "alternative" moral. People who maintain such examples as not revealing of the flaws of casual relativism are disingenuous. There is no sanctuary away from the subjective. Even data alone will provably undetermine any scientific theory that employs it. Rationality is ultimately a project in determining 'facts' about the subjective. An apt analogy is in those who think they can run away from having a political opinion. No matter how we organize or define concepts, the "thinker" is superior. Though there is no shortage of characteristics that fall under this archetype. We ought to strive to improve our faculties in every way. Imagination, calculation, empathy, logic, rationality, music sense, organization, memory, cunning, charisma, empathy... Everything. A human need not be lacking. This idea that a strength is always paired with a relevant and polar weakness is just poetic wishful thinking that ironically serves no one. We are not optimized starting classes in some RPG. The only real thing holding back multi-mastery is time. I also maintain my ableist position with regards to fundamental abilities or "core personality" as MBTI would have you believe. That being said, I obviously don't advocate discrimination. Research on personality is just not at the point of answering the kinds of advanced (and often philosophical) questions people have about themselves. Even "successful" systems such as the big 5 only offer primitive or trivial facts that most people are already aware of through mere casual introspection. Hopefully, I'll be more careful with my comments henceforth so that I can put an end to responding to views I no longer hold.
Remember that you use both every day, but one is more comfortable and natural for you. If you feel like you are both, then you have learned very well how to do the one that isn't your preference, which means you have achieved a good balance. That's a good thing! But you do have a natural preference, and it's the one that you probably go to first. Think about the parts of your job that you maybe do well, but you wish you could avoid or delegate. Intuitives usually want to delegate detail work like data entry or dealing with budgets while sensors might prefer to avoid big picture tasks like strategic planning or "visioning"-type meetings.
When I did a test for MBTI, it showed how many percent I got out of a hundred per dichotomy. And for this dichotomy, I got 84% intuitive and 16% sensor so the difference is huge and I could quite agree cause I notice it myself too. With yours though, it's probably closer with 50:50, prolly around 60:40 whichever side you feel more natural with. Still, there's hardly ever someone who get 100% for a dichotomy since there are many factors affecting our behavior and I believe human's mind is adaptable and could respond differently even with our default response.
This is not what MBTI is, your senses are extraverted and introverted and they mirror so if in you conscious mind you are extraverted sensing you be introverted intuitive in your conscious mind and in your unconscious mind you will be introverted sensing and extraverted intuitive. What that all means can’t fit in a 5min vid. Do look it up, worth a few hours to better understand yourself.
Agree. Imho these personality tests like MBTI are more accurate in cognitive functions more than traits. Traits can overlap each other. Someone told me that to not categorize yourself with this personality test thing and these theory are flawed.
Everybody uses both. It even says so in the video. I am an N. The words "statistically speaking" are one of my most used phrases. Although, like many N's, I was like, "what cat?". An easy way to tell if you are an N or an S is how you remember history. Are you more likely to tell me it happened between this year and this year, and that it involved x number of people, or this list of countries, or are you more likely to tell me the story behind it. This person (or a person) did this, and it caused this. One example. My husband (an S) and I were recently talking about books about WWII. He was talking about the when's and where's (the invasion of Peleliu and Okinawa, 1943-46), I was talking about the interactions between characters (young man drops out of college to become a marine, sent to Japan, there was this guy...). We were ten or fifteen minutes into the conversation when we figured out we were talking about the same book. (E.B. Sledge's "With the Old Breed")
I usually start with the setting which is the sensing part and then I tell the story and lastly my comments, but I usually dont even think about the moral of the story or whether there's a metaphor. Thats probably a very sensing thing to do I guess
Thanks for the insightful comment! I can definitely relate with the history example, because as much as I love history, I am hopeless with exact dates. That's probably why I usually result in N over S, but by a very small margin.
Almost everyone has developed sensing and intuition, the difference between sensors and intuitives is in where we put our mental energy, the physical reality or the possibilities and deeper meanings. When i see a picture I notice the details a milisecond before the meaning, but in my life I pour most of my energy into the practical and I think about imaginative stuff and possibilities only just for fun, so I'm a sensor. I hope this helped somebody who was indecisive.
This answered my question exactly. I've been confused as to what i actually am, but this makes sense - I did the exact same, details and then the meaning. Blew my mind wtf
I just find it hilarious how much sensory information I miss on a daily basis. I can be directly looking at you, listening to the story of your life, but I won’t notice what color your eyes are or what you’re wearing until we’ve finished talking. It takes me one HUGE conscious effort to stay out of my head and it’s really problematic.
It sounds like you're an Intuitive. Intuitives have trouble noticing and remembering details and specifics like you described. I am an Intuitive, and I often struggle to remember people's names when I meet them. I'll get to the end of the conversation and realize I have no idea what their name was! 🙃 Like you said, it takes a LOT of focus for Intuitives to notice and especially remember specifics like that - but keep working at it!
@@willowtreetraining That's weird cause I'm a sensor but forget people names a lot and struggle to remember things. I have to write down their names so I can remember it. But I do focus on the past and can write in detail. Its all about what you do more I guess.
john cena That happens to me, as well, except for the past thing. I’m really bad at recalling anything in detail. From what I ate yesterday and where I left the keys (have lost them over 10 times on the last 3 months lol), to major episodes of my life. I just have a notion of what happened and why, but not what exactly happened and who was there. I need to rely on others to remember those things for me because my memory is just too bad. However, I’ve noticed I instinctively follow and adapt to successions of events, perfectly recall sensorial patterns (like music), and pretty much “remember” anything as long as it’s connected to something else. That’s why school was always incredibly frustrating for me, because we were required to memorize random facts and concepts, while I’ve always learned better from the top to the bottom so I can understand how everything works as a whole.
Willow Tree Training & Professional Development Development I’m so sorry I didn’t answer earlier! I 100% relate to that and it causes me a lot of awkward moments, especially when I hang with someone for a long time (like 4 months or so) and realize I just call them “dude” or “bro” because of that hahaha And thanks! I don’t think I’m making much progress, but I still try :) Wish you luck with that too
@@willowtreetraining well this is new.. I feel like Im never present during a conversation. My head is going places that's why I will not remember what someone said. However, I remember names and birthdays easily. Lol.... Other than that I don't remember what they were saying exactly, I just remember how they were feeling and how The conversation went and how i felt. I feel like Im good and bad at listening if that makes sense.
I use sensing more! I like asking questions and getting verification. I focus on tiny things. In my opinion, it’s always better to get the solid true than just making one up. I think its smarter
Sensing and Intuition are good starting points for how an individual takes in information. However it fails to account for situational factors and contexts in the current environment. Intuition has a key aspect of physical awareness. When out doing an activity such as shopping you have to keep an open eye out as you do not want to bump into people out of courtesy, just an example.
I'm an ENFP - intutive. I'm always looking for a deeper meaning to things. I find that using sensory language eventually drains me. I grew up with a lot of sensors who never knew what I was talking about with my abstract thinking. However, I could talk about the 'what if's' and 'imagine ifs' for hours :-D
Totally second this. Dealt with a sensor who said I was playing “head games” just because she couldn’t understand my analogies and metaphors. It’s so annoying. And I’m normally pretty even tempered being an enfp also. But I got so frustrated with her I had to stop talking to her. It’s like they just want drama all the time or something because they’re so bored talking about laundry. Both literal and metaphorical laundry. Any sensors who got what I said just now, thank you and all others please think about it until you get it or have someone explain it to you. God knows how many times I’ve already tried to explain myself. -.-
ENFP here I find my mind an enjoyable place and I always think deeper in things too When I tell ppl that they tell me that I am weird But if finding my mind an enjoyable place means that I am weird Then I am a proud weirdo✨
i'm definitely a sensor. i always notice what are people wearing etc and seem to cant stop noticing about whats going on around me! anyway that pink dress is so cute.
Wow now I finally know what I am, thank you SO MUCH! ❤️ When I taking a test I really am not sure about what my answers are, and for years I wasn't able to surely know and accept my type, I was always wondering, watched so many videos with MB types...it was exhausting. And now, one video from you and it's clear like a day that I am a Intuitive! 😀✊🙌 Great! 💓💓💓
I actually wonder what a sensor has over an "intuitive". It seems that an intelligent person is an intuitive with all the skills of a sensor. On the other hand, I have a hard time imagining these supposed "sensors" being intuitive. I'm supposed to believe that most people are so limited? The qualities of a sensor seem like the kind of low order intelligence I expect from anything surpassing a chimpanzee. I guess at the very least, a sensor is especially good at these lower forms of intelligence compared inferior animals. Yet a keen intuitive should eclipse them completely. Thankfully it seems that I'm not alone in this skepticism and there are alternative theories, with one arguing for a mutually inclusive relationship between observation and intuition. I doubt your average Joe is the simple minded primate that MBTI would suggest.
A big picture is great to have an overall idea of where you are heading, but without all the small picture details that you do day in and out, you will never reach that vision. Pretty common in the workplace. Intuitives can come up with great ideas and sensors can help make that a reality
@@lightningandodinify you are correct in a way but sensors are great at materializing and making practical use of the ideas intuitives come up with. Intuitives are intellectuals. If we didn't have enough sensors we wouldnt get anything done. Also for me, my S partner helps keep me grounded and not lose my stuff that I keep accidentally dropping and forgetting while my mind is at work 24/7 thinking. Short coming of an intuitive is missing vital details like a small screw in the machine or just being sloppy in general
@@ningyosama4782 the ratios don't make sense for our rave anymore. We need more hybrids and intuitives. Genuine sensors can make up a small minority instead.
I'm an INFP and there were moments I get INTP but one thing I'm sure of, I am mostly an intuitive person (I'm quite convinced no one is 100% intuitive or sensor, same with other dichotomies)
Yes, you are absolutely right. We all use all of the letters of the MBTI every day, but we just have a natural preference for one or the other of the four dichotomies. It's not that we use that one exclusively; we just find it easier and more natural. Understanding your personality is all about finding balance and working to get better at using the opposite to our preference. We can't change our natural types, but we can definitely adapt our behavior as we learn and grow!
I'm a balanced person. My best & favorite choice is always middle/medium. I love to think in every way possible. When I'm taking a decision, I think about how to make it fair and square for everyone. And my biggest quality is being so reasonable of everything I say or do! I'm an ambivert but more like an introvert. I don't need to have a massive group of friends but I also love to hangout with my trusted ones but they must understand I need to recharge first. I use my scenes & logic to get my informations. I'm balanced and thoughtful I'm that friend that everyone come to me to help them solve their friendships. I want to be a detective/lawyer/police/judge or things like that as I'm reasonable, honest and answer by using logic! I'm a thinker but I also feel about how it will affect people around me. People say I overthink but maybe they just underthink? But who cares! I just like to be my creative self. I've a leader personality which I like about myself. I'm responsible and trusted. I may not be beautiful but the pretty is on the inside. I find it important to remember memories that makes us happy... and to remember bad memories to learn from our mistakes...but I have one problem. I find it hard to find myself & my personality. I don't even know what mbti I am. All I know is that I'm balanced and that's what matters to me. If think you know what mbti I have from the above information please reply it'll help me a lot. I'm still young and I still have many things to do & enjoy!
It's hard to tell a person's type from a description like that, but I do have a few thoughts. First, a lot of Intuitive (N) Thinkers (T) or NT's think of themselves as people who use all of the letters in a pretty balanced way as you described. NT's are the Rational Temperament and they believe in life-long learning and want to be competent at everything they do. We have videos on all the Temperaments, so you could watch the one on the Rational Temperament to see if it fits you. And since it sounds like you need to recharge on your own, I agree with you that you sound like more of an Introvert than an Extravert. It's hard to tell from your description whether you're a Judger (J) or a Perceiver (P) because you don't talk about how you organize your daily life. So maybe you can watch some of our videos on Judging vs Perceiving to see which one you think fits you best.
Its so hard being an intuitive in this world. I am never good at explaining details which is what the world requires, I like explaining how I feel about things overall .. I usually dont feel like sharing my knowledge to most people just because I feel like they won't understand me and then I'll feel stupid..
I use both sensing and intuition on the painting, the first thing that caught my eye was the man discussing with the women telling the women something important then I focused on the objects on the painting and the outfit, I'm an INTJ
Yes, that makes sense. We all use both Sensing and Intuition - we just usually use the one we prefer first. Since you're an Intuitive, you first thought about the man telling the woman "something important" which is an interpretation, and then you looked at more of the details.
I am definitely Intuitive, I like meanings to perceive the world and thus take it more practical. I was doubting this, because I thought intuitive had another meaning. For now I fit pieces that tell me to be an INFP, although I also have my doubts, I did the test and besides that I investigated part by part, it's just that I don't know if I'm J or P, and that I only act like P because of what surrounds me and not because of how I am as a person, I have no idea yet.
After seeing the painting, now I'm pretty much sure that I'm an intuitive person (I already knew it tho)...still wanted to make sure! Thank u soo much 😊 this vedio helped me a lot.🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜
I LOVED the painting example. Yes I am definitely intuitive, When looking at the painting I immediately zoomed in on the couple's faces and was thinking, He is really coming onto her but she is not so sure and he is intimidating her. Now my husband on the other hand is a sensing soul and I have come home to tell him about something I saw like this couple and he will ask me about all these details like what color was her dress, what was she doing? Did the man have a hat on, did he have a mustache? Husband cannot believe that I don't pick on these details and I have often told him these details don't have anything to do with what I am talking about! LOL
AHHHHHH why am I always stuck between both. Straight up objective practicality and facts ares so important to me and come to me first but yet the first thing I notice in the painting is the emotion and message behind it. I also love thinking about meanings and metaphors.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. All along i thought i was an intuitive. Now i know im not. I actually have peace now because i know my true self. Liked the video
I wish so bad I was a sensing and judger. This world was not made for intuitives and perceivers. I'm an INFP and I feel happy for that and for being different, but most of the time I don't... It's frustrating trying to fit in the way this world works...
I took the Myers Briggs test, and I was mostly clearly one or the other trait. But when it comes to S vs N, I was solidly down the middle. Though with this video maybe slightly more towards N? Hmmmmmmmmm...

Oml it’s so true with “learning with metaphors” or basically learning it the way I could easily understand and remember. I’m an INTP that can’t understand math when others are trying to teach me their way...I try to think “Oh! So basically, I just turn a potato into fries!” Something like that. Just a way that only I would get.
Sensors seem like simpletons without an imagination. Apparently, they're "practical" but it seems the intuitive can be whenever it counts. I guess the difference is that the intuitive has ideals and dreams, whereas a sensor just wants... Oh yeah, apparently nothing but simple desires.
@@Wolf-r9d yes we all do but those intuitives end up like thay because of the sensor world. This world is made up of mostly estjs & other sensors (around 50-60%) & messes up mostly intuitives unless it's countries like Finland(INFP mostly), Japan(XNXP, XNXJ), & France (XXNJs) etc. This causes them to have more immaturity. For example school in America is usually ESTJ. It's rival is an INFP student. To the INFP they will usually get diagnosed for having ADD at a young age for being so disorganised & daydreaming because they don't like being in structured education with a lot of detailed info. Being in strict rules will make them feel like the only escape is daydreaming. That can team up with Si & make them lazy & not want to try anything new even giving up good passions or values. Se & Te is one of their inferior / Auxiliary functions so clumsiness follows, & end up being dumb in learning the ESTJ way. Usually they end up being either depressed & fed up with it going into SJW & end up being the ignorant social activist shoving no logical ideas because they think forcing it will compensate for the lack of Te. That's one example but others might be INTPs end up being that disposable friend or end up being living in their mom's basement doing nothing with their Ti. I've seen INFJs who are kinda scary because their perceptions on reality. I'm just saying that intuitives usually get diagnosed with a lot of disorders which are not disorders at all & end up thinking they have disorders which worsens everything. If you want to make your ENFP friend to do something productive with their life then force them to read books so they can be concrete with their values but no fictions. They are fast readers but also enough stimulation for their imaginations. For INFPs get them into spirituality (so they can love themselves) Or offer them to study MBTI, read books. Most intuitives I've seen get called weird or outcasted, sensors can be too (poor ISFPs) but usually some of them will go to physical substances from my experience while intuitives their minds are the substances themselves & they get disconnected with in their concept of non concrete interpretation from being called weird, annoying, bullied etc. & makes them even more delusional INTPs for example will be Apathetic to those people & go inside their own world causing them depression & boredom = Laziness = they are afraid what others feel = thinks their own world is reality etc. Same with all intuitives.
@@Wolf-r9d take Finland for example, their education systems are one of the best in the world but for sensors it's like why is it too hard? Because usually it's shaped around from an intuitive perspective, their culture is not a small talk culture. People will avoid almost anyone & if you ask them how are you? Even if they know American culture they might feel like they need to say "I'm not really good these days ...(long ass reason)...etc." The society & its government is very INFP. They fear being the same & not having equal right so their government takes away more money if you're rich & gives you more money if you're poor so there's not much of a difference in the rich vs poor money gap. There's no problem with men & women getting equal pay. In Japan for INFPs it's based on their dreamland. I mean c'mon the anime fantasy in akihabara & all these subcultures they have is very INFP. The technology is based on an INFP saying "what if we had this?" Or "what if this existed that would be awesome!" & the other intuitives there make that technology etc. Without INFPs people wouldn't have poetry or have social change. Without ENFJs people wouldn't have Marther Luther king even or Nelson Mandela. Without intuition we wouldn't have depth. Understanding is all we need. If sensors would stop thinking they are weird Or let them be & intuitives thinking the world is against them, then people can work together than society falling apart. The More intuitive types in sensors can translate intuitive "communication while the intuition types with more sensory language can translate it so it can be more understandable to the intuitives.
@@Wolf-r9d what? You completely ignore the fact that I talked about Socionics & cognitive functions & not just that, everyone has the Jungian theory's ego, superego, consciousness, & unconsciousness of their personality. I said that everyone should work together & not be biased at the end so what's your point bringing it up again
@@Wolf-r9d I never assumed sensors as that. My whole family is a sensor based family. My father is an ISTP for example & he's very intelligent. I'm an intuitive but we both have different intelligences. I'm an INFP too but all INFPs are all academically inclined at a younger age. It's when they get to like middle school or high school where they consider dropping out or like someone described it, you're living because you can't die or in this case you're going to school because you have no choice. but having traumatic experiences myself made me think logic in a different way even as it's my inferior function. I think as logic as concrete imagination but to make something out of let's say you physical environment I use details as imagination & the result as the dream is the way I interpret for example the way my father makes furniture or when I help him build parts of the house (I still am really fucking bad with my Se function like dropping things or even forgetting to feed my body when I'm focused on something). It's hard to explain maybe because it's my perspective but that's the best I can express. When it comes to my Fi, past family Trauma & being with an ISTP in general (they can have offensive sense of humour to where at least my father thinks that fights are fun) & my trauma was my parents physically fighting & torturing me with what side i was with between both & if i picked the wrong side i would get thrown out of the house at 12 years old. I still have to deal with extreme indecisiveness but i came up with the conclusion that im tired of my own shit too so i just suddenly know what i want in the long run. I got me immune to some things when it comes to jokes or people trying to hurt me. I'm more like an INTP in the sense of I can somehow turn off my feelings if I feel attacked & try to think of the logic my father has taught me: life is a joke, but take it serious enough to make you happy. My sister is an ISFP so her self esteem gets really low to the point where she would overdose & would use drugs like Xanax & other opiods which is one of the worst & addicting drugs. Same with my father (cocaine & meth). Couldn't leave the house because of emotional attachment but i thought If something happens to them, I did my best, but now it's time for me to move on. & as INFP that was hard because INFP are loyal & really delusional to emotional manipulation & now even that doesn't affect me what so ever. Idk about how to know between ENTJ vs ESTJ but you can look at what are your temperaments. It's the best way to type yourself. Look at CS Joseph's channel to know what are your fears etc. Because that's the best way to know which one you are
When I first read about sensors and intuitives I thought I could relate a lot to both and therefore I was a mix of both. I think I lean on the intuitive type though because despite focusing on details I wouldn't call myself observant. I miss a lot of things visually, and I use my imagination all the time and need metaphors to understand something.
Great example, when I watched the picture, I was thinking of a romantic interaction, a lover visiting his significat other. Maybe they are still on a date and want to get closer to each other. I was focusing on the meaning, of this, the whole message I am receiving, instead of the details. Didn't even saw the cat. The only detail I saw was the stache.
The painting example was really helpful! I did obviously notice the man and woman (but not that she had wool in her hands) , but my focus was on what their dynamic was. Is he trying to seduce her into dark deeds, seeing as he is in the background in the shade and she is sitting in the light and has a white on her dress which usually represents purity. Reminded me a bit of the Eve and the Serpent storyline. I take in the vague overall picture and I guess strive first to understand the motives and mechanisms going on underneath.
I first tested as INTJ but I’ve consistently tested as INTP-T at least twice. After examining it, I’d say this is fairly accurate although I’m a lot more talkative than the stereotype says.
I'm glad you think it's pretty accurate! And many Introverts are more talkative than the stereotype implies - especially in situations where they're comfortable or know the people they're with. Is that true for you?
i find it easier to observe the details first before trying understand the meaning of the picture , which make me a sensing type but also half intuitive.
So I find myself lately thinking a LOT about the differences. Whenever I took the test I‘ve got a sensor type (ISFJ, sometimes ISFP) and I didn‘t really question it, because I‘ve been in a close friendship where I would find myself doing everything for the other person. I could remember whatever they told me and I bought a lot of gifts etc. Besides this friendship I‘ve never acted like that in any kind of relationship. On top of that I‘m a very insecure person. I‘m often questioning if I really am a sensor or if I just became comfortable in using Si because it prevents me from trusting myself - which I can‘t/don‘t feel comfortable doing because it would probably increase my mistakes society sees? I don‘t know if I expressed myself clearly.
Remember that we all use both sensing and intuition, so it's common for people to use both when they look at the picture. Your type is based on which of the two you naturally prefer and which feels most comfortable for you, though, so most times, that's what people use first. Intuitives don't always interpret a picture like you would in an art history class, but they usually ask themselves questions or wonder about things in the picture that aren't readily apparent from just looking at it. So when you looked at the picture, did you see really specific details (like the mustache, wool on the spinning wheel, and individual leaves on the trees) or did you see and wonder about the bigger picture kinds of things (like the time period of the picture or what he might be whispering to her). Even when they don't see a message or find meaning in a picture like this, intuitives usually have questions or thoughts about the picture that can't be answered just by looking at it.
However the points you made after 3:48 can be easily relatable for both intuitives and sensors but previous points were much useful for differentiating between the two. In simple words Sensors rely on what they really see in the world and with most people, most proven and secure whereas intuitives go with thinking about more depth and their instincts. They feel a curiosity and they see the things that are not physically visible. But there is still much more, there are several differences between 8 types of sensors and 8 types of intuitive. But your last example can confuse maybe both intuitives and sensors.
Hmm I wonder if that's just a preference for intuition, and then using their imagination to play roles in life, seeing the benefit of using different functions when and where. Could a sensor do that very easily I wonder? But perhaps it depends on what you mean by being 'rooted in your being'.
I feel that I lean a little more towards Intuition. I feel like I understand things better using symbols and am much more of a visual learner. In the picture exercise I imediately focused on the fact it was a man and woman talking and that the woman didn't seem to be paying much interest.
Very helpful video! I had always been an INTJ-T but recently ended up ISTJ in other test sites, with INTJ only being secondary. The picture helped clarified what was bothering me. I did notice their appearance a little bit but focused on speculating what the man was saying or why was he on the window. I did not even notice the cat! and I used to be praised for being detail oriented, shame on me lol. ( I still could not find the cat lol)
@@orcacharts4454 hello! I actually did months ago! Helped me understand my mbti better. Aside from cognitive functions I also started studying enneagram which also helped me alot
@ 3' O5" - " . . LOOK at this painting . . ", is instruction to Sense with sight. Maybe, next time, 'What do you think about this ?' And present the pic. - What if both S and I are used together ? What if no separation ? Sense the sea shell and Intuit the symbology. Connecting the intense man S speaking I to the inclined ear of the young woman S listening for what I Artists - Caravaggio - full of it - S + I Sigils are S for the owners. But, I to the ignorant ?
In the picture, I did the 5Ws: Who, What, Where, When, and Why. Initially I tried looking at the meaning of the picture, but I began looking at each thing individually, the people, the objects, and their surroundings. I was gathering information to understand what was happening. BTW, how could we be sure that the guy is hoping for a date when he's not making eye contact with her but somewhere else? I get tested as sensing and I agree with it because I don't make things up unless there are observable things to go by.
Yes, what you're describing (using the 5Ws, using observable info, etc.) sounds like a Sensor for sure! And Sensors often look at the details/specifics to try to see the bigger picture - which is exactly what you did with the picture. Do you know your other letters?
Still dunno... I study too much of MBTI and I got lost... Help. 😢 With the picture exercise I was like: "Her dress colour is pink, there are nice shadows on the picture, what does he want from her? She is sad." I had a mixture of sensing and intuitive impressions. But I didn't notice the moustache 😉
When people are stuck on sensing vs. intuition, we typically remind them that sensors outnumber intuitives by about 3 to 1 in the population, so there is a really strong bias to develop sensing skills. So those who are on the fence are often intuitives who have learned how to pay attention to details. Not always, but think about whether you tend to get general impressions or focus on the meaning first, and then look at the specifics, or if it's the other way around.
Study Carl Jung's functions. It's not the same as MBTI at all. For example there are no introvertion or extraversion in people but in functions. A function can be introverted or extraverted there. It's the only way to truly know how your brain perceives the world.
The painting test answered my question. In my head i was like, well there are 2 people, tree in the background, i noticed the dress and the big window. 2nd was, i dont know what they might be talking about, i could speculate tho.
Okay when she asked “what do you see in this image” my answer was “mmm a man and a girl who are talking??” I didn’t even notice the cat nor i tried to think about the meaning behind it, i’m hopeless🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I’m not able to figure out what fits me best. I like details, and if I’m doing something I like to know how I’m doing. But I know that I do learn differently than others. School wasn’t easy for me. I really needed teachers to be open to showing me other ways to learn or look at things differently. Not that they would do it. I just wished they would. Where would I fall into?
Think about what you need first. Do you need the detail first before you can see the big picture? Or do you need a context or overview first before you can figure out how the details fit in? We all do both, but we are typically more comfortable starting with what comes easiest.
Willow Tree Training & Professional Development well. I prefer to know the what’s the point of what people are telling me. Because sometimes they give unnecessary details or they take too long to tell me what they’re trying to explain. I only pick and choose what topics I prefer details on, I guess you can say.
It sounds like you want the "why," which is a typical intuitive trait. If you are an intuitive, you want the details that help to explain the "why" and the big picture, and the rest are just "noise."
I am so completely and equally both that I just don't know which one I actually am. I've always had a knack for looking at the big picture, innovation, and/or going with my gut instinct, but I'm also detail organized and orientated as well as a perfectionist. I am a passionate novelist/writer, but I also excel at and enjoy administration. It's like being ambidextrous. In the picture, I was literally thinking about what story was behind it at the exact same time as noticing the colour and style of her dress, what they both look like, and what she's sitting on. No matter how it's explained, I can't seem to lean more towards one way or the other. I feel like I have an oxymoron personality when it comes to these four MBTI types. I tend to go right down the middle on all of them. Is this even possible?
I was having an identity crisis looking at all these sensing vs intuitive comparisons so I gave up and decided to take the test instead. Turns out I’m 52% intuitive, making me an ixtp
I realy can't understand all these facts thrown at me. All I can work with is the picture. And I clearly saw a couple first. I didn't even noticed the spindle or the cat :D
For the painting part it took about a half a second to see the man was flirting with the women but then I noticed how good the lighting is in the painting and started wondering how long the artist worked on the piece and works before it. My thoughts went outside that painting so fast.
So I'm realistic and practical and I learn through past experiences and repetition. But, I love comparing ideas, trying to find out the meaning between things and I love drawing patterns and seeing possibilities. I don't really use my imagination I learn the facts and then have an opinion and draw patterns. Another example is that I won't remember a name but I will remember what did they do. Please help me find out if I'm a sensor or an intuitive I'm really confusedd!!❤️
I’m an ENFPT. I just pointed out a man and a woman sitting on chairs..? Talking to eachother? It seems like I’m a mix of both sensing and intuitive but I can see situations where I’m more intuitive
The painting example at the end was actually mind blowing
Thanks! It's amazing how well that works!
very agree.. that makes crystal clear
Exactly. I didn't even see the cat nor the mustache. All I saw was a man who is deeply in love with a girl who's scared/nervous? And their relationship is probably a seceret since he snuck to her window.
TL:DR the painting helped me make sure I'm an intuitive.
I found it confusing. Because the feeling presented is so _obvious_ that I started to focus on the details instead!
Not really. I am definitely an Intuitive but I analyzed the painting the way a Sensor should.
Next time bring notebook.
I wish school was a little more hands on
same! the educational system is so unfair catering for the average person rather that each individual
Sensing types also prefer triggering their emotions through their senses whereas intuitives prefer triggering their emotions through thoughts and fantasies.
This is so true
this is helpful.
I got 51% intuitive, 49% sensor, so I use a lot of both, I usually test as INFP.
We are both
Same but with the f/t - normally I get 51% feeling and 49% thinking

I am 85% Intuitive and 15% Sensing
@Harry Gerry same. A couple years ago i scored an isfj but now i am an infp.
I don’t do good in detail oriented jobs (entry level jobs) because I am intuitive and always think of new ways to do things and better ways to do things. Therefore, it’s hard for me to work up the ladder. I eventually started my own business and I’m doing great (infp)
Another reason N is superior. I hope your business is going well. I'm sure it's too "impractical" for these sensors to consider.
@@lightningandodinify Nice to group all sensors together. Always one of those Intuitive bias users.

This is weird, I feel like I am both
Remember that you use both every day, but one is more comfortable and natural for you.
Rachel510126
Guess you deserve a trophy and praise from the masses.
You have both you just perfer one over the other
No personality test is 100% accurate, humans are dynamic beings.
Agree. Imho these personality tests like MBTI are more accurate in cognitive functions more than traits. Traits can overlap each other. Someone told me that to not categorize yourself with this personality test thing and these theory are flawed.
Trust me, MBTI is more than just shitty tests.
There's much more to it but it's very hard to find
You have a default profile that is a preference
Haha, I had the same. What cat? 🤣 What spinning wheel? Where?
Thanks for the insightful comment! I can definitely relate with the history example, because as much as I love history, I am hopeless with exact dates. That's probably why I usually result in N over S, but by a very small margin.
@@RunaSunset Yes. You're totally right!
@@bluejjay Which tests have you taken?
Almost everyone has developed sensing and intuition, the difference between sensors and intuitives is in where we put our mental energy, the physical reality or the possibilities and deeper meanings. When i see a picture I notice the details a milisecond before the meaning, but in my life I pour most of my energy into the practical and I think about imaginative stuff and possibilities only just for fun, so I'm a sensor. I hope this helped somebody who was indecisive.
This answered my question exactly. I've been confused as to what i actually am, but this makes sense - I did the exact same, details and then the meaning. Blew my mind wtf
Ya ok I'm definitely an intuitive type.
I 100% relate to that and it causes me a lot of awkward moments, especially when I hang with someone for a long time (like 4 months or so) and realize I just call them “dude” or “bro” because of that hahaha
And thanks! I don’t think I’m making much progress, but I still try :) Wish you luck with that too
@@willowtreetraining well this is new.. I feel like Im never present during a conversation. My head is going places that's why I will not remember what someone said. Other than that I don't remember what they were saying exactly, I just remember how they were feeling and how The conversation went and how i felt. I feel like Im good and bad at listening if that makes sense.

All I hear is „I’m an intuitive“ but where are my fellow sensors lol-

I'm an ENFP - intutive. I'm always looking for a deeper meaning to things. I find that using sensory language eventually drains me. Totally second this. Dealt with a sensor who said I was playing “head games” just because she couldn’t understand my analogies and metaphors. It’s so annoying. And I’m normally pretty even tempered being an enfp also. But I got so frustrated with her I had to stop talking to her. How is it for you to be the sensing type?
The Adventurer!
"I just know, trust me" is what intuitive people say.
Why would you NOT want to see the big picture?
lkjk lkjlkjkl My question exactly.

@@willowtreetraining Yes, that makes sense. Thank you!

Thanks so much! So glad you liked it. And we appreciate the comment!
Attention to detail for urban areas
Intuitive: technologically advanced city. (future-oriented)
Sensor: just a city (traditional-oriented)

GET OUT!
Sounds like you're an Intuitive.
even though i am an ISTJ, i use both but my sensing overwhelms my intuition, and i also use sensing to guide my intuition
42% Sensing, 58% Intuition 🙌🙌
A true MBTI-based wise person is them who are able to gain mobility of the 4 different dichotomies...!
@Willow Tree Training & Professional Development to a fault. I also literally *never* do small talk.
I think I’m an INFJ, but I want someone to type me to confirm since it’s supposed to be so rare..I just want to be sure I got it right
Nora Stalgic you are an INFJ
@@SurvivalSpec How do you know?
I am an infj and I hate the fact that were so rare. I often feel misunderstood
i find it easier to observe the details first before trying understand the meaning of the picture , which make me a sensing type but also half intuitive.
Intuitive, INTJ-A
I know I'm intuitive and I usually score about 80-20 (percent) on the tests but I still looked at the picture and not its "message" *gasp*!
Im an intuitive hands down
hope theres more examples because i got to understand it more. just like the painting
I’m definitely a sensor but with the painting I used my intuition
I got 85% intuitive, 15% sensing. I’m an ENFP
When you are rooted in being you can chose ur personality type, you can even blend all types together with varying degrees of intensity...
In the picture exercise I imediately focused on the fact it was a man and woman talking and that the woman didn't seem to be paying much interest.
detail oriented intuition
Very helpful video! I had always been an INTJ-T but recently ended up ISTJ in other test sites, with INTJ only being secondary. The picture helped clarified what was bothering me. I did notice their appearance a little bit but focused on speculating what the man was saying or why was he on the window. I did not even notice the cat! and I used to be praised for being detail oriented, shame on me lol. ( I still could not find the cat lol)
Your thoughts on the picture definitely sound like an Intuitive perspective.
Learn the MBTI cognitive functions instead of doing the test
@@willowtreetraining thank you! My partner does say that too. And that I was always " in my head." Which was very intuitive like
@@orcacharts4454 hello!

What if both S and I are used together ? What if no separation ?
Sense the sea shell and Intuit the symbology. Connecting the intense man S speaking I to the inclined ear of the young woman S listening for what I
Artists - Caravaggio - full of it - S + I
Sigils are S for the owners. But, I to the ignorant ?
With the painting, I was solely thinking about how this would indicate sensing / intuition
Nice, I finally know wich one I am :)
I'm both Sensor and intuitive
In both of them there are traits that I would like to obtain..... not just one.
Ig im a hybrid cause yo i do all but in different situations. Btw i am an istj but got intuitive for the painting one
I’m definitely a sensing type.
I AM A INTJ
nope im just an artist so it’s obvious that i focus on the details
Yup, im an intuitive
The painting test answered my question. In my head i was like, well there are 2 people, tree in the background, i noticed the dress and the big window. 2nd was, i dont know what they might be talking about, i could speculate tho.
I haven't seen the first person saying their a sensor down here...
I am intuitive person ( INFJ A )
Okay when she asked “what do you see in this image” my answer was “mmm a man and a girl who are talking??”
I didn’t even notice the cat nor i tried to think about the meaning behind it, i’m hopeless🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
No you are not you’re just a sensor most likely! And there’s nothing wrong with that it’s just how you take in information.
Can u describe their differences using the example of a plastic cup?
That's great
Thank you so much for this information
Intuitive and yeah at first the video stated my type maybe cuz a lot of entp are into this shiznit
Both of them a little bit!!👌👌👍
Ellyse Jae i think youre just slightly more intuitive than sensing. But more balanced i would say
Great analysis.
i mostly type as N but i can remember the color of someone’s eye, hair, t-shirt before their name
I was having an identity crisis looking at all these sensing vs intuitive comparisons so I gave up and decided to take the test instead. Turns out I’m 52% intuitive, making me an ixtp
I use sensing and intuition equally. There are too many absolutes to a "gray area" test.
