That’s a very clever solution to the cover being in the way more than it’s useful. First thing I’ve always done with those covers is take them out and put them in the garage. Then they sit there till I sell the car
I understand the 2 spots on top and the stow away spot under the floor. Why would you move it to the spot just on top of the floor? It sounds like a useless spot.
Just a storage position to avoid storing it in garage, i prefer the good old firm parcel shelf which lifts with the boot/trunk opening and easily removable if needed.
Not the first tip from you I've found helpful with my recently purchased Kia Niro 3 EV - thanks. My wife's small wheelchair, even when folded in the boot/trunk, prevents the cargo cover being installed, and it sat unwanted in our front porch. Now it is stored safely in the car, available to be used if it should be needed - much more satisfactory. BTW, my son purchased the same car a year ago, and was about to purchase a trickle charger lead for around £250 when I told him about the spare wheel space you mentioned in one of your videos. He investigated and found the trickle charge lead supplied with the car that he did not know was there!
Very helpful, thanks. I've purchased two Sportages and I'm very impressed with the features, attention to detail and equipment ranges. I had a Vauxhall before the Sportages and in my opinion there is no comparison. Kia cars are the real deal, Vauxhalls you pay (over the odds) for the badge.
Have the same thing in my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Bought it the car used with no cover. Bought the cover at Amazon, a lot cheaper than getting it at Hyundai.
I have a toyota rav4, and it has that cargo cover and the hidden compartment. I'll tell you, with all the neat little hidden features the only one that I love the most is the fact that my fishing poles fit perfect down in that hidden compartment! I also modified the clips that clip on to the back seat headrests to be a little tighter so I can toss a pole on top of that. my tackle box fits perfect down the hidden compartment also. NEVER buy a vehicle your poles won't fit in! words of wisdom :)
I knew about all of those except for the under-floor one. Though, I do also use those sides for other things... pull the side floor panel out, and that is the perfect size to keep a gallon of washer fluid from flying all over the place.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, a good sales team should know this, but they don't always have time to point out every single possible feature when they're delivering the vehicle. My own dad didn't know that his car did this until well after he bought his car, and I was pretty thorough in going over the features of his car.

Thanks for that. 1st thing I did when buying the car was to remove this and put in garage as not required while I own the vehicle. Dealership were not aware of this underfloor storage.

I've taken a lot of heat for this video from people thinking that I shouldn't have bothered with filming this, so thanks for recognizing that this is useful, and maybe a helpful video.
In Australia the Sportage comes with a full size spare so can't stick it under the load cover. I wish i could as it now just lives in a corner in the garage.
I guess I'm not a smart arse like some of your f***wit know-it-alls, but appreciate the reveal. If I am carrying a lot of gear where the luggage profile goes above the cargo cover, its nice to know I can store the cover under the floor and not bury it in my garage, never to be found again. Thanks, for taking the time to make the video 👍
Should have mentioned the cover will not store in the back if you have a 19" alloy spare wheel (eg, Sportage GT line). It won't fit, the wheel is too high. Well thought out Kia... A feature available on the lower models, but not available on the high range.

Other cars in that stretch: 2011 Jetta SportWagen TDI, 2011 Mini Cooper, and 2017 Mazda CX-5. Love it so far. As far as the drive, it’s great. Powerful enough, smooth enough, and agile enough. As far as the looks, mine is white and I love it. Interior is really nice. Everyone fawns over the vents, but I find that their location and adjustability leave a little something to be desired. Kids love the second row heated captain’s chairs, but I would have rather had a second row bench. It’s way more “tech forward” than the 2019, which makes things a little cumbersome, but it’s easy enough to figure out. I wish it had wireless Apple CarPlay. My 2019 had rain-sensing wipers, and this one doesn’t. Only a small loss. In some other countries there’s a HUD. I don’t miss it (my wife has it in her Mazda), but some folks might. I like all the safety kit, with one possible exception: That thing where the blind spot gets displayed on the dash. It might be useful in highway or dense urban driving, but in just driving around in the suburbs it’s distracting, and I turned it off. The fuel economy has been staggering, and we’re still breaking it in. I’m getting 60mpg overall. And the transition between propulsion systems is incredibly smooth. The third row is for occasional use, which is exactly what I want it for. Note that the side curtain airbags DO NOT protect third-row passengers. I didn’t want, and don’t need, something as big as the Telluride. Only direct competition coming to US in near term is the Outlander PHEV. The timing didn’t work for me, and I’m a bit of a Kia fan, and I just can’t get past the Mitsubishi’s looks, but that’s of course subjective. These are my initial thoughts. Happy to talk more. Good luck in your search.
The cargo cover stows under the floor on my 2014 Outback too, so it may be common to various manufacturers. Doesn't have a position for upright back seats, it has an annoying 4" fixed screen to cover the gap when seats upright. Hyundai's system better, now I just need to source a cover for my 2022 SF. :)

So depending on the type of accident, and the type of cargo, the cargo cover could hold things in place, but I don't believe it's designed to do that. That's just my opinion.
My car is a 2017 Kia Sportage GT line and i cannot lower the bottom boot floor nor can I store the cover below it as it's hitting the spare wheel. FYI the spare wheel is 245 45 R19
Had no idea! But also have a Niro PHEV so 50/50 for me. Great tips!
Yeah, the Niro PHEV has that 12 Volt battery there, so it doesn't make space for this.
Such a good tip! Thank you.
Hov about Kia Ev 6, does it work the same way?
My 2013 Sorento does all but the underfloor position
2022 Tucson Hybrid it has the upper positions and the under floor storage, but not the above floor one.
Yes, that's correct! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Never knew out the "hidden" recessed storage under the lift door. 🤟🏼🖖🏼
What size is the width of cargo. I have one that fits 56” across.
Any secrets for the 1st gen (BL) Kia Sorento?
Is there any tips and tricks for the rather annoying hard panel piece in the Seltos? I don't have one yet cause I am debating if it's worth it
I can't think of any yet, but I'll dig into the Seltos soon and come up with some videos for that car too.
I have a 2012 Sportage and I cannot get the cargo cover bar out which limits that space.
Thank you for your tutorial coz i didn't know that there's more a lot of options great job 👏 👍
Thanks for watching!
2022 Niro hybrid , should my petrol access lock when the car is locked?
Yes I knew about this feature. I have the 2016 Sorento SX with the hidden storage spot.
Thanks for watching!
Does anyone know if a kia sorento (2020) can fit a ninja carpet extractor in the back with the third and second row seats down, with the 25" hose as well? Please let me know
Where is the 12-volt battery in the 2022 Sportage Hybrid?
My wife has a 2021 Sportage (yes we are a Kia family) it WOULD FIT) however there is a FULL size spare which is stopping it DO they have space savers in Canada?? NZ IS full size
It doesn't fit with the full size tyres.
@@samuelrobinson1928 didn't I just say that????
I think that Hyundai have missed a trick - With all the cameras that the Ioniq 5 etc has, why can't they have a integral dash camera?
The old RAV4 (and probably the new one too) also has that storage feature, but NOT if you have a full size spare wheel. :-)
I knew the Rav4 had it, I didn't realize that about the full size spare, but that makes sense.
@@BrantfordKia The RAV4 does however not have the extra square holes (at least not the 3rd gen, up to about 2018). So that is a really nice (and rather common sense I might add) feature in the Hyundai.
@@plonkster Thanks for sharing!
Had a look in my 2021 HEV SORRENTO... if the battery and the tool box wasn't there if COULD be stored.
Yes, our PHEV's won't be able to do this right now.
Helpful. Thank you. Didn’t know.
Genius. I had no idea!
Sweet! I'm glad this helped!
I've got a 2011 SantaFe and I'm curious as to why Hyundai didn't even offer a cargo cover for this? No cut-outs or spaces to put one at all. Every SUV I've ever owned had cargo covers for them except this one.
Most Santa Fe's now have the cut-outs. I'm not sure why they did or didn't back then.
