This is actually something I had mentioned in one of my older videos. It's nice to see that Kia has improved the settings.
Yeah, this is a nice upgrade. On the New 2021 Sorento, there's now a button to activate the rear camera, but it seems to only work in Park. I'd like to be able to activate the camera at any speed. Chevrolet pick-ups allow you to activate the camera in any gear and at any speed, but just for 10 seconds. Hopefully this type of functionality will work its way to EV's. Thanks for the comment!
My new Kia was driving me nuts with the backup camera not turning off when I shift to drive and having to park the car to get it to go off again. At least I know it's not a factory defect now and how to turn it off; wasn't even sure how it would be remotely useful, but your demonstration made it make more sense, so thanks for that as well. I'll probably turn it off though, not sure why it was on by default...probably someone messing with the settings during a test drive or something like that...
Thanks for the great tips. My 2021 Seltos does not have the option to zoom the back-up camera, but it does have the 'extend rear camera use' option, which I find quite useful. However, to access it, after touching 'Display' in the setup menu, I had to hit the 'Advanced Options' button.

does the Kia K5 have front parking sensors? if so how do you turn them on I know this K5 has backup rear sensors but nothing in the front can that be turned on or does this car just not come with it?
On many of our newest vehicles with the Around View Monitor, you can get the front camera to turn on at lower speeds, but those are the only models that can use those cameras.
I also cannot access the blue backup lines close to the car like for hitching. No screen settings to touch as you show when yellow lines are displayed so can't access closeup blue view. 2020 Soul GTLine
You should do one on the K5 GT-Line EX or GT. There's a lot of confusion on that one. Even some dealerships don't seem to know the product they have. For instance the all-wheel drive is only available on the GT-Line. Your sacrificing a lot of trim & safety options for it though, well sorta. Might be more of a trade-off then people are willing to go with. I personally like the styling of the GT-Line a little better. But wonder what you're really gaining from that line other then AWD really? Great series here though!! :)
@@BrantfordKia Damn I should have come to Canada then lol. I could have gotten an EX in an all-wheel drive, insane!! Well live and learn I guess lol. Have you done a review on the Stinger yet? :b
@@BlazinNSoul Yes, I've spent some time with the Stinger, we have a few videos up. We're considering putting it back in the video bay as early as Monday. We'll make that decision soon.
I also noticed on my 2022 Kia Seltos EX that the Android Auto takes up the same amount of screen real estate as the backup camera does in your video. Any reason why Kia can not make Android Auto and the back up camera display at full screen on my 10.25" display? I fnd it hard to believe that Google has not made Android Auto compatible with most wide screen displays.... so the fault I place on KIa.
Probably not. This is a newer feature, and the Sedona is running essentially the same software as it has for a few years now. The Sedona is about to have its replacement introduced in the coming weeks, so we'll see what kind of software comes on that vehicle.
Can you use drive rear view monitor (DRVM) app to take a shot of vehicle behind you?? Possibly using engineering mode to activate this possibility ??? If yes let me know how
Hi I have a 2012 Kia Sorento SX & have been experiencing Navigation issues as the navigation GPS doesn't recognize vehicle location. It does recognize vehicle movement but no accuracy due too wrong "HOME" position. According to the manual if GPS is active it should display GPS active or if inactive it should display GPS inactive. I don't see either one on the display Nav. Map?
These types of things are tough for me to diagnose on the RUclips comment's section. I would suggest connecting with your local Kia store to get their service department to take a look at things.
We just got a '21 Sorrento Hybrid, and when we reverse there is a very loud external beep/chime tone (I assume to warn pedestrians), is there a way to turn it down/off?
I'm not sure... in my EV it can't be turned off. In Europe, they have the option of turning that off on EV's. We haven't seen the Hybrid here in Canada, so I can't confirm, but I believe it is mandatory in Canada and the U.S.
I'm not sure what you mean by UVO 2. I tend to get my information only from official sources, so if there's an online rumour of a new UVO coming out, I haven't heard about it yet.
Yeah, the Optima used to have that, but I really prefer the larger screen for those types of views. You can see everything much clearer when the display is a little larger. Here is a video link to that car with the feature. ruclips.net/video/tshU8Eso6no/видео.html&t
It's easier to drive because the power is very consistent. But the real reason is that there are no emissions, so I'm allowed to start the vehicle and run the vehicle in the building.
We keep finding badly damaged surface of the 10.25" screens as we look at certified preowned 2020 and 2021 Soul GT-Line Turbo' with 10.25" screens. Why? It's like they have a film wearing off or something? We saw three in one day all at different Kia dealers, so obviously this must be common. What's going on, is it a known serious defect? I also posted this same question yesterday on the Kia Forum with a couple photos. Thanks
I can find the settings icon in reverse to adjust contrast etc but tapping the screen doesn’t bring up the icon to look directly down. Mine is a UK Eniro 4+ les than 6 months old. Is there a knack of where to tap or a setting I’m missing.?
Hmmm... I usually just tap the screen to bring that up, but perhaps you have a 2019 model year? I'm not sure if the 2019's did this. Otherwise, it's possible that this is just a difference between countries.
@@BrantfordKia 4+ here is the my 21 latest model, very strange. Thanks for the reply. Do you have the mirror selector tipped to the left or right? So that the mirrors dip for reversing. Just noticed I’d knocked that feature off. ( not the answer just tried it).
@@BrantfordKia Yes it does, I just wondered if it needed to be working for the look down view to be active. But it makes no difference here, ah well, still the best car my wife and I have owned. First EV just a shame having lockdown, only done 650 miles in 5 months.
Love the extended backup camera thing. But the mirror dropping isn't on my car. Kia Soul 2020 GT Line. There is only L and R position no center for mirror adjust. Putting it in L and putting car in R no movement of the mirror. Hmm

@@Marauder1981 I think, to be fair, they do a standard safety inspection. They probably don't plug a device into every USB port in the car, (some cars have as many as 8) so if there's an issue with the car, I'm sure your dealer would be happy to check it out.
This feature will only work on the relatively newer vehicles. But some of our videos will apply to older vehicles as well. There won't be a whole lot of these videos that are valid to your 2013 or 2014 because there have been a couple of generations of model changes between now and then.
My hidden feature is the back up camera does not work..but I guess that is because the software is by Win-doze..good thing Kia turfed that O/S in the newer models- still love my Kia Forte regardless.
If it doesn't work, you should be able to get it fixed. Usually if it stops working, it's not the software, it's a hardware issue. Replacing the camera is the most common issue, but it's possible that something else is going on.
I'm very confused for example at 1:46 the yellow lines are there but towards the red section on the bottom part of the representation why are there these curved edges of the car that you can see. Why does the curved edges go past the yellow representation thing ?? How do you know if your not going to hit something.
That's a great question. The simple answer is, BASICALLY the rear edge of those lines are accurate to where the rear end of your vehicle would go. So in the spot that you're pointing out, the horizontal line at the top of the screen is roughly where your vehicle will end up when you get there. However, when you're looking right up against your bumper, the wide-angle lens of the camera distorts things so that the bumper is actually wider than the lines indicate. So if you have something very close to the car, you can see the bumper and avoid things, but the guidelines are less accurate, but if you're approaching something, the end of the guideline that is furthest away from the car is accurate. This is common for every brand of car that I can think of.
My camera went out as I was closing the trunk it was very windy as it is in wis.sometimes as I was closing the trunk the wind grabbed it an slamed it down I got into my car put it in reverse an whala no back up camera so I checked the wiring it all looks good like it's in the same place it was before the camera went out I have a blue screen have not checked ,any fuses my thought is the trunk closed to hard for the sensitive. parts inside the camera or a fast short acered an blew a fuse
Shame the parking sensors are so bad. With a Ford I could judge almost to the inch using the beep/tone. With the Kia, it goes onto a constant tone a good foot away from an object making it poor for judging close maneuvers.
I believe this video will guide you there. Maybe around the one minute and three second section of the video? Have a look and see if this helps! ruclips.net/video/kXLaome_yx8/видео.html
I was backing up the other day for some reason I got it confused with my other vehicle which has an audible beeper when you get too close to something. Yeah, the soul does not have that
Sometimes it shows up if you tap the screen? I haven't tried this on the 2021 models. On some newer software it's actually more obvious with an on screen button on the left of the screen. I'll have to play around with it, because the previous Kia Souls have had this feature, and 2022 vehicles still have them.
Is there a video on lowering volume on some Kia’s that backup camera sounds like an house alarm that can be heard blocks away… ruclips.net/video/qENyhzzfkSo/видео.html This example is actually quite, compared to our neighbors car.

When is uvo 2 available?
I'm not sure what you mean by UVO 2. I tend to get my information only from official sources, so if there's an online rumour of a new UVO coming out, I haven't heard about it yet.
would love to see for 8 inches displays with 360 view
Yeah, the Optima used to have that, but I really prefer the larger screen for those types of views. You can see everything much clearer when the display is a little larger. Here is a video link to that car with the feature. ruclips.net/video/tshU8Eso6no/видео.html&t
How can I turn off the split screen when in reverse? I noticed you also had the split screen, but could it be full screen back up camera display?
The camera isn't set up to be full screen. The software only allows it to be the aspect ratio that it is.
@@BrantfordKia oh I see. Thank you for responding. Love your videos. Go Kia Family!
Interested in as to how it's easier to drive electric vs gas indoors...
It's easier to drive because the power is very consistent. But the real reason is that there are no emissions, so I'm allowed to start the vehicle and run the vehicle in the building.
Is this possible on the Kia Proceed GT 2020?
I'm not sure, we don't sell the Proceed here in Canada.
Thanks
I checked and my 2019 Niro doesn't have them. Shame, the camera staying on was a good idea.
Yeah, it's a feature that is making its way to more and more Kia vehicles, so this video will likely have more relevance moving forward.
Fuck, my mom has a niro and really wanted it there:(
I can find the settings icon in reverse to adjust contrast etc but tapping the screen doesn’t bring up the icon to look directly down.
@@billbenstead920 If you tip the mirror button to the right OR left, it should tilt the mirrors if your car is equipped like that.
@@BrantfordKia Yes it does, I just wondered if it needed to be working for the look down view to be active. But it makes no difference here, ah well, still the best car my wife and I have owned. First EV just a shame having lockdown, only done 650 miles in 5 months.
@@billbenstead920 Yeah, a common theme with EV buyers is the saying that their EV is the best car they've ever owned.
Funny, I have a 2020 Kia Niro EV and that feature to show directly behind the car is missing. Is this only on specific years?
It's not so much the year, but the model. The 2020 Kia Soul EV has it, but not the 2020 Niro EV.
I have Soul GTLine 2020 and I don't have it either
Love the extended backup camera thing.
But the mirror dropping isn't on my car. Kia Soul 2020 GT Line. There is only L and R position no center for mirror adjust. Putting it in L and putting car in R no movement of the mirror. Hmm
yaw in a few year my grandma is giving me her kia rio, to show respect im never getting rid of it, its 2015 but im boutt to lightly modify it and remaster the interior with a new one
Nice!!
Instead of Center, maybe they should've labeled the button "reset."
My 2020 menu is different. I cannot extend the display
Yeah, it will depend on your vehicle.
My 21 Forte doesn’t have any of those for my rear camera. It’s an EX and pretty much loaded with Nav. Doesn’t even have a warning tone
Not every vehicle will have some of these features.
I would like to know why they installed a USB port that doesn´t work
If you have a USB port that isn't working, you should connect with your local Kia Service department. They should be able to help you out.
@@BrantfordKia well I just got my KIA delivered to me. Shouldn´t that have been checked in the quality-check procedure?
@@Marauder1981 I think, to be fair, they do a standard safety inspection. They probably don't plug a device into every USB port in the car, (some cars have as many as 8) so if there's an issue with the car, I'm sure your dealer would be happy to check it out.
I am enjoying these tutorials!
Do these “tricks” work for any KIA with a backup camera? Or just the newer vehicles? Our household owns 2: 2013 & 2014
Why don’t other Kia dealerships tell their customers about these hidden features?
Because you need to get to know your car for yourself.
Shame the parking sensors are so bad. With a Ford I could judge almost to the inch using the beep/tone. With the Kia, it goes onto a constant tone a good foot away from an object making it poor for judging close maneuvers.
Is this working for a Kia ceed because it doesn't work
It may not work on every Kia model.
I can't find where to turn the volume down on reverse.. mine is so loud
I believe this video will guide you there. Maybe around the one minute and three second section of the video? Have a look and see if this helps! ruclips.net/video/kXLaome_yx8/видео.html
@@BrantfordKia thankyou. Kia said it can't be turned down the reversing sound because the engine silent needs to be
I was backing up the other day for some reason I got it confused with my other vehicle which has an audible beeper when you get too close to something. Yeah, the soul does not have that
Uh Oh! You're correct, it doesn't! I hope that wasn't an expensive mistake!
Back to the dealership o guess
NIce video, but you speak far to fast to explain things to people who don't know the stuff yet.
Does the back up camera Beep at all.
If your vehicle is equipped with rear parking sensors it will beep! If not you will just have the guidelines on your backup camera.
I now what I'm doing tomorrow......
Haha! Thanks for watching!
My 2021 soul doesn't have the button to change the camera view 😥
Sometimes it shows up if you tap the screen? I haven't tried this on the 2021 models. On some newer software it's actually more obvious with an on screen button on the left of the screen. I'll have to play around with it, because the previous Kia Souls have had this feature, and 2022 vehicles still have them.
Brand new Kia Sportage, warns me of everything and their mom, but doesn’t have backup distance beep. Ok
👍🙏
Thanks for watching!
It didn’t work for my kia forte ex+ 2020. Can you help me out?
Some of these features may not be on the Kia Forte.
Is there a video on lowering volume on some Kia’s that backup camera sounds like an house alarm that can be heard blocks away…
ruclips.net/video/qENyhzzfkSo/видео.html
This example is actually quite, compared to our neighbors car.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
John 3:16-17 kjv
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on HIM that sent ME, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24 kjv
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the LORD;”
Acts 3:19 kjv
Nope, not on my '17 Sportage.
This feature isn't available on every model.
@@BrantfordKia It may be on a newer version. The '17 is as old as the UVO updates allow for, for now.
Does not work for anything else but high tier models
