I really liked the dreamy, flowing feminine quality to the pieces. It had a 60's, flowerchild kind of vibe for me. The off putting things for me were some of the way too sheer pieces and I wish there had been more women of color.

If one can dissect the twee styling and surfeit of flowers, there are some gorgeous pieces in this show. Those bias cut skirts would be fantastic with a collared shirt or bright cashmere sweater. The ruffled tops with a pair of jeans. Just because Rodarte decided to show these looks together doesn't mean you need to wear them like that people! Just because these models have baby's breath in their hair, doesn't mean Rodarte wants you to do that. In fact, please don't do that. It's so obvious when people don't actually live in fashion, because they have no idea how it works.

This was such a nice venue for this show... I really like a lot of these clothes and only wish I was younger and could afford to buy some of them... I loved the presentation also... great accessories and lovely to see the flowers...

At last a SS18 collection with some originality. Some of the frothy bits were much the same as we have seen everywhere, but the more modern (and wearable) looks were great.

I liked this collection overall , its really pretty and fits for a spring/summer collection .but i feel like the silhouettes were a little repetitive and the first look shouldn't have been the first look to come out . I think it should've been put near the middle wear more bolder colors were coming out . But very pretty as an overall collection .

Overall this collection is really stunning! The slow-mo was kinda killin’ me, though. It looked awesome in some bits, but it made the delivery a little boring. On a side note, Tracee Ellis Ross! 4:43

Beautiful presentation, great clothes, but it would have been better to see his collection, presented on models of a variety of skin tones, the models used in the show isn't a true representation of his customers, unless this is his vision or target market for his clothes, otherwise I find it distasteful when designers feature only one type of race in their shows.

The clothes are already full of distraction. Adding more distraction with the garden setting does not help but instead, overloads the eye. I think it would have worked better in an indoor staged setting, maybe with a misted atmosphere.

I love the hair on many of the models...very pretty!! What a lovely line...such feminine dresses! I love many of them. First dress would've been very pretty if it weren't see-through though. Such a shame. Same thing goes for model at 3.21, 5.13, etc. Model at 4.16 looks anorexic. Please tell her to add some weight to her body so she can be healthier. So many of the dresses are so beautiful! ... very feminine! I just wish they were lined. To me that would put them at the top of the list! All of these super sheer dresses are just not appropriate for 99% of us. I guess if you're newly-wed and you're on your honeymoon they'd be ok in the room where you're staying. I applaud the photographer, though...did a great job.

Who was the target age group for this mess? The girls all looked like seven-year-olds who got into Mummy's stash of gauzy-net materials in the sewing room, threw different colors every which way, added flowers and bows to resemble the woman in John Collier's painting entitled "Queen Guinevere's Maying," and then adding insult to injury, the designers added ugly Goth boots from another time for most of the models which made them walk like lumberjacks, not even adolescent females. If they were going for an ethereal look, the girls should wear little ballet slippers, or low two-inch heels that look sort of like ballet slippers at the front of the shoe, absolutely no ugly Goth looks or platform shoes. No self-respecting woman with curves over the age of 18 would wear any of those outfits.
Who cares about the styling, or how they put the looks together....the point of a fashion show is to showcase the PIECES. Buyers aren't buying looks they're buying pieces. They're not buying gold bows or baby's breath tiaras, they're buying dresses. Plus, if you're dressing head to toe like a model on the runway, styling and all, you're doing fashion wrong. I love how you see ballet, so the entire look should scream ballet. Fashion is often about contrast. It's more interesting than rigidly cohesive themes. Just because you have a preconceived notion of what women over the age of 18 "should" wear, doesn't mean everyone fits into your narrow perspective. I think every look was absolutely gorgeous, and much of it was completely wearable. Whether you're a youthful 18 (yes, in fact teenagers need clothing too!) or you're an etherial 50, there are pieces in there for you. Just because it's shown on a model, doesn't mean that's the only body type its going to look good on. If that were the case, no fashion would be realistic. There are also women out there without curves, believe it or not! What are they supposed to do when women like you are telling them they have no self respect?

First of all, this isn't haute couture...Rodarte are not HC designers. This is a spring/summer 2018 collection that they decided to show in Paris during haute couture. Not entirely sure why they did that, but it appears to have been strategic and successful (standing ovation). Second of all...haute couture isn't always head to toe. Clients who can afford couture are a little too particular and discerning for those parameters. If they want nothing but a sash, they get nothing but the sash. If they choose to buy the look, along with a sprig of baby's breath, I don't think a designer is going to bat an eye. More often than not, though, clients who are buying couture are not going to wear them...they're collectors items. And also, couture clients are wealthy and influential enough to get custom pieces made to their specifications. Chances are, a couture piece walking down the runway fitted to a model who's 5'10 and a size 0 isn't going to fit an average billionairess.
As a rule to buy haute couture you should buy the whole look, for example, if you want the shoes of the first look you have to buy the whole look, check it, it's a thing. Obviously you can ask for certain modifications, Lagerfeld said once in an interview that some clients ask for so many modifications that they tecnically design their own garments. You can choose too, for example, look 3 in the fabric of look 4, but anyways you should buy a look, regardless it is modified or not.
Secondly, this IS haute couture, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and other designer I can't certainly remember were this season's guests, Syndical Chamber of Haute Couture has a list of more or less15 designers which are in the official calendary, and every season there are invited designers whom present an haute couture collection. These collections just for being presented in that week and for being invited by the Chamber are considered Haute Couture.
Are you just making things up? A simple search would prove that Rodarte were just invited to show a ready to wear collection during Couture week...but its a SPRING 2018 collection. That means the eschew NYFW to show in Paris.
A haute couture piece is a one of a kind piece....so if you want the piece, you shell out the exorbitant amount of money for it. There is NOTHING that says you have to buy the shoes with it as well. That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. These clients are beyond wealthy....they buy whatever the hell they want. If they want Karl Lagerfeld to design a new piece for them and they can afford it, I can assure you....its going to happen. If you can prove me otherwise, I'd like to see some evidence.

I agree. If the models could be happier it would improve the show a lot! (Maybe they're all so hungry. It's pretty hard to feel good when you're starving. Shame on the designers for allowing their models to be starving.)
