Zooming into the story, the craftsmanship and our passionate atelier team that have shaped ‘Roots of Rebirth’ over the last months so intricately.
This season, we explored the rich, yet deeply fragile interconnectedness of an unfamiliar world, the enigmatic fungi empire and the life-bearing fine threads of mycelium.
The collection details the extraordinary existence of this winding ‘fabric of life,’ the marvelling world of undergrowth tapestry. In reference to the book penned by scientist Merlin Sheldrake, ‘Entangled Life’ notes that ‘fungi is the ecological connective tissue, the living seam by which much of the world is stitched into relation.’

I love how it includes everyone from fashion designers, make up artists, models, to sound designers. It must feel great being appreciated for your hard works when you thought no one knows your effort.
That's the nature of the industry, especially behind the scenes.
@@bettythomas8660 yep, but not all company have the same level of respect to people who worked behind the scenes. I know cuz I work in creative industry just not fashion.
@@nanikoreoyaoya7677 Main thing is the end results or final show for the punters..... I absolutely LOVE working behind the scenes, I've covered theatre, live music, retail & it's all the same ethos.... THE FINAL RESULTS.
She has rare talent. It feels like it's almost at Da Vinci level geniusness.

I've NEVER seen clothes like this. I felt like I was seeing something from another world, this was truly inspiring.
Can you imagine having your wedding dress designed by IVH? I love how she combines fantasy with science. Nobody out there like her. The videos she puts out are beautiful and so well edited. Like a mini movie.
She is in her own league.
I wonder if her dresses would look good on regular sized women with chub though? I think my curves would take away from the meticulous sculpture of her dresses...though it would be a dream.

Those are more like sculptures than clothing. So it’s enjoying art and creativity of someone who is wonderfully talented.

The amount of work required to put one of her shows on is gob-smacking, even the music is multi-layered. I cannot imagine the cost of putting this together, each item takes days, weeks to put together, it really is incredible. And she has to come up with a new theme for each one, exhausting. These “clothes”, if you can call them by that ordinary name”, are not from this planet. They are other worldly….something you dream of seeing from some dimension you recall you’ve never been yet know every nuance of.
They are truly ASTONISHING!! The fact that we get to see them being made with such phenomenal skill is even more of a dream come true. It’s like you’re watching the inside of the mind of a galactic being, not a mere mortal genius!

I would love to see what she could do for plus sized women. Think that her fashion thinking would do wonders with movement and forms for different kinds of bodyshapes. That is what drew me to subscribe and follow her work. Me who have never looked at fashion before. I'm now fascinsted with the colours, shapes and movement in her creations.
This abut reminds me biomimicry, taking inspiration and movement from nature and the natural world. Another smilier artists to this level would be Santiago Calatrava, whose buildings are designed off of the human shape and form.

I just watched some runway videos and while i saw some nice concept to show the clothing, the clothing itself wasn't very entertaining. I don't know a lot about fashion but for me those clothes looked like some pieces of fabric just draped over a models body. There were no fun colours, shapes, accents. But Iris van Herpen makes the clothing pieces so facinating that no matter how the show it's presented it's still beautiful to look at. As a dutch person i am proud to have her represent our country.

Fashion is literally an art. If you study fashion, it’s within a college of fine or applied arts. The verb means to craft or shape and really has no business being applied to garments cut in bulk by a fabric saw and serged en masse. I know you mean this as a compliment, but it’s not and let’s recognize the difference in an atelier and a sweat shop.
