  • You may be very surprised at what flights to the Philippines cost in the coming months. We will look at flights from USA, Australia, and the UK in this discovery video. Many factors influence the cost to fly. Supply and Demand, fuel prices, tourist seasons, fuel costs, world events, pilot shortages brought on by the crazy government travel restrictions, and others.
The Philippines has a high tourist season that runs from about November to May. December flights are often some of the highest with many OFW's, Overseas Filipino Workers, flying back to visit family.

I only use Google,,if you know how to shop,, ( Mondays and Tuesdays) and what time to fly(overnight) and look far enough out calender wise you can still get a round trip from Chicago for under a $1000.00.. You might need to keep checking every day and be ready to buy when you catch it,, but its a learning process..

The average price of a return trip from Canada to Philippines was around $1,000 before COVID. Today, it is around $1,500. Yes, in some parts of the world, prices have come down, while other places have increased.

ONE CONSIDERATION on international flights is often its BEST to book direct with airline. Reason is if any flight changes or refunds, it can be done quickly if you book directly with airline. If you use expedia sky scanner travelocity any of those, the airline will tell you contact who ever you bought ticket from. I'm getting older and LESS hassle the better.

Last November 2022 we paid $4k total return for the both of us with Scoot (Sydney-Singapore-Cebu). This coming July 2023 Sydney-Manila-Cebu with Philippines Air for both is $3k return. We used to be able to fly Singapore Air or Cathy for $1.5k total return for two. The best we ever did was 2015 was a one hour sale $600 return total for both of us on Cebu Pac. That was a one off.

  • @AllAboutFilipinaRelationships
    @AllAboutFilipinaRelationships 11 месяцев назад +4

Hi Rod. The prices from Sydney to Philippines with Scoot and Cebu Pacific usually don't include baggage, taxes and so on. Those things add another couple hundred a ticket. I went recently from Sydney to Manila (direct flight) via Qantas for just on $900 AU return (April). Compared with the same trip in May 2018 with was around $800AU. Another thing to look at is comfort on the plane and what you get for your price (food, drinks, in flight entertainment and of course service). I had a friend recently who had return tickets for her and her husband with Philippine airlines. 2 days before the flight she got an email advising her firstly the plane will go a day late. The next day they email her saying it's now cancelled. Took her hours on the phone before Philippine airlines agreed to a refund. Subsequently they got flights via Cathay Pacific. Just some things to be wary of when looking for extra cheap tickets. Safe travels everyone! 👍

Good video to raise awareness about flight costs and how planning can help keep cost down Rod. One should also have other considerations than cost though. There are trips that with layovers at connections push 40 hours. I usually don't sleep during trips so I look for a One Stop flight from DFW Tx for a trip duration of 24 hours or less. If it costs $200 USD more, it's well worth it to me. Some airlines treat you a little better than others and that's also a consideration. Korean Airlines has always done well by me. JAL and Nippon also. My one Cathay Pacific flight was top notch. Strangely, any US airline seems to be lacking in service in every respect. American Airlines left me stranded in Communist China once. AA arranged a substitute connecting flight but didn't inform me no email or anything, their desk was closed...and the chinese said I couldn't wait there for 4 hours until I could talk to someone to get things straightened out because the airport was closed. There was also a US serviceman making a long term/permanent change of station to the Philippines and he had a veritable mountain of luggage and rather than try and move it, he wanted to wait also. Not a single baggage cart in sight, probably all locked up to prevent loss or theft while that part was empty. But No, you can't stay here. They will get the Army to move you if necessary, not police, the Army. Through my own efforts I found out about the connecting flight but I was lost, including a couple of train trips, in the biggest airport I have ever seen dragging my luggage for 3 hours until I found the right kiosk to check in. You do not want to be stuck in communist China when things go wrong. If AA hadn't screwed up and my connecting flight was there, I wouldn't be giving this advise because I would be blissfully unaware. But, because it did happen, I can say it's worth a few hundred dollars to Not transit Communist China when things do not go according to plan. Take care Rod.

Hi Rod. Im flying from Seattle to Manila later this month. I use Skyscanner to get similar price quotes as Google. They have travel agencies that I have never heard of, and if there is more than one airline involved, you can't easily buy directly from the airline. The best flight I could find for one way there in June was $1200 US. If you wanted an aisle seat, it was extra and for exit row more still. My total was around $1500 when it was $800 to fly home this past spring and used to be that price round trip. I, too, try and buy directly from airlines because I had trouble getting refunded from travel agencies.

I just booked 2 one way tickets for my Filipina wife and I to go back to the Philippines from South Carolina in mid September. Tickets were $1,600 each purchased directly from Delta website. That includes seat up grades to Comfort+ and the extra cost for fully refundable tickets. You can get tickets much cheaper using third party websites but if something goes wrong don't expect any help from the airline that you are flying. The seat up grade is obvious, it's a very long flight and we'll worth the couple hundred dollar upgrade. The extra expense for the fully refundable tickets, in order to get a half way decent ticket price you have to purchase tickets at least 90 days ahead of time, a lot can happen in those 90 days. We are both unjabbed so we have to test before we fly, if those tests come back positive for any reason I will cancel the trip and have the tickets refunded. I am not going to put myself in a position that I havev to be tested in the Philippines.

Maybe try flying into Clark or Manila, I find Cebu much more , a round trip from Clark to Cebu can be had for around $60.
I see just a short time ago the lowest prices I've ever seen traveling from the US in the summer months which is high travel season. And Ive been traveling there for 40 years.
Prices are based on season of departing country not arriving country.
I don't really see the high prices. Dont make the mistake of comparing prices to the period just before covid because that period was ridiculous low prices, by far the best ive experienced in 40 years of traveling there. I don't think that is a fair comparison but unfortunately those who may not have alot of experience want to use that period to compare prices.

I was really looking for short legs, because the last time I flew from LAX to Singapore it took two months for the edema in one of my legs (from sitting for seventeen hours) to clear up completely. I know for me... About four years ago... I looked up tickets to buy... To come to the philippines.. I live about an hour West of Boston. I also looked up tickets from houston texas.. As well as los angeles.. The most expensive tickets were from. Los angeles.. To Manila... Number 2 was Boston... The cheapest one was from texas.. When always shut and done.. Yes includes all the flying in the USA.. My son liz close to the airport in texas.. So I took an extra two days.. To see my grandchildren... I believe it was a destination I made.. Have a great day. The savings from Texas was $250.00

I always use Expedia to search and book flights. Bizarrely, it only listed flights (from Missouri) thru Qatar, Japan, Korea, 24 to 48(!) hours. We booked direct thru Southwest MCI to LAX, 3 hours, then Philippine Airlines LAX to MNL 14 hours direct flight. No other place I looked listed this option and we had to dig it out ourselves.

Hey guy! My two cents... I live in Louisiana, they don't make you go east. They still travel west BUT... they MAKE YOU buy a two way ticket. I went through Cheapo air. The different airlines I called said they would force me to buy a two way ticket saying ITS NOT ALLOWED to buy a one way ticket to Phil. I thought it was BS but I couldn't get around it. In 2017 the cheapest price I could find was $1200+ ...did they change this "law"?

I have never heard that before. The PH requires an "ongoing" ticket within 30 days of arrival, so maybe they are using that excuse. It does not have to be roundtrip, just ongoing. Some buy a refundable ticket or a "throw away" ticket as cheap as possible.

I normally take the shortest flight even if I have to pay a little more. I hate long layovers! The flight is so long and miserable anyway. I fly from IAD Dulles. Very long. I think the shortest I ever had was 18 hours, but normally in the 20s, but I have seen very cheap flights and takes 30-40 and even 50 hours. Better look closely before booking. 😊
