      SRRV people were denied entry back into the Philippines during covid-19. It is a non immigrant visa. Priority and security is always if you are a Permanent Resident Alien. This way whatever might happen, you can always leave and be allowed to return back.

      US promises mean nothing.
      Thousands of Filipinos were recruited by the US military with the promise of US citizenship. As is usual, the US subsequently reneged on that promise.
      Another disgusting display of the lack of morals that the US consistently exhibits. No US citizen can be trusted.

    One you open a Filipino bank account it must be reported to IRS when filing your taxes. Most US brokerage accounts like Fidelity Investment offer no transaction fees for withdrawals at certain PH banks and even pay any fees from that bank, so really no reason to open an account in Philippines. If you do, please remember these bank do not carry $250,000 FDIC insurance per account like US banks. With Fidelity and Merrill Investment accounts you can spread your money out in banks like Chase, Citi Group, Bank of America and Wells Fargo and still have up to the 250K FDIC insurance with each account. This would be less risky than placing ones money in a Filipino Bank. See you in BGC in the Ber month this year.🎄

    Ever ask why the Philippines cannot go from “Developing Country” to rival the status of Singapore? Let’s consider Banking laws and practices are archaic and cumbersome in the Philippines. Very few places accept credit cards. Gcash doesn’t always have flawless reliability, especially in the provinces, internet service has regular outages, Wages are low for professionals and managers yet the cost of living in Metro Manila is higher than Southern California when comparing food (rice not included) clothing if you can find regular or large western sizes, you’re out of luck if you wear shoes larger than size 10, rent or buying a house and lot can be expensive, the prices of automobiles, the price of gasoline, utilities are very high, and you cannot drink the tap water or get hot water in the kitchen. Public education is abysmal, traffic and population density is the highest on the planet. Yet, I love it in the Philippines. But be aware of what to expect and what you get if a relocation is in your future.

    I'd like to hear more about the SSRV and what defines a "pension". For Americans, Social Security probably will work as long as one receives enough money each month and can show that. But what about not having Social Security but having money in IRAs (Individual Retirement Account)? I'm really enjoying your channel. I'm considering retiring to the Philippines and am a US Navy Veteran. So the $1500 deposit is very attractive to me. My major concern is money.
    Next year I will turn 65 and will be receiving about $1500 a month in social security but it will be direct deposited into my US Bank. I also invested in bit coin mining and staking. The profits of this are about 300 to 500 a day. However all of the profits are considered capital gains which is taxed at 15%.
    So this leads me to the questions I have and perhaps you may know or can find out.
    Since my investments are held in a digital wallet I have to transfer my money using a US Bank.
    1st Qustuon. How difficult will this be.
    2nd Question. I am awful with taxes and since most of my money is from capital gains. Is there anyone there in country that can handle my taxes for me?

    When I bring my 10,000 USD to the Philippines, what kind of account does it need to be deposited into so I can determine my tax filing requirements here in the USA?
    I'm planning on keeping it in cash for at least a couple years before buying a condo if I ever buy a condo.

      As long as you have the visa. You can convert the funds into an investment IE condo purchase valued over 50k us.

    SRRV waste of money.
    If you are ex military 1500 bucks
    Otherwise $25k deposit in PI bank account
    $300 annual fee
    Just extend your visa for 3 years.
    Fly to Bangkok then return.
    Buy a throwaway ticket to show you will exit within 30 days.
    Boom
    Another 3 years.

      You are misguided on the visa law. I have been in the Philippines for 14 years, this is how it works as explained to me by an immigration officer at Mactan airport Cebu a few years ago. You can't live permanently in the Philippines on a tourist visa, if you go out after 3years for just 48 hours and then return you may get away with it for a time but you are in the wrong. I had been doing this for a while and never had a problem until I arrived back in Cebu one day. They saw that my passport was full of stamps and that I only left for two days at a time, I was taken to one side and given a run down of the immigration law, they told me that if I tried it again, I would not be let into the country, my details were entered into a computer. You need to leave for a considerable time and then return for it to be ok, or you can marry a filipina and get the 13A permanent residency visa or get the SRRV retirement visa..

    • @Southeastasiantraveler
      @Southeastasiantraveler Месяц назад

      Correct - the $20k USD that is required to be quarantined is the deal breaker. I know it can be used to purchase a condo, but not everyone wants to buy property. As you suggest, the tourist visa route is the most flexible. There is also the issue of getting the money back if you decide to leave - it’s The Philippines remember

    • @Southeastasiantraveler
      @Southeastasiantraveler Месяц назад

      Thailand’s retirement visa costs 1,900 baht (about $60 USD). It needs to be renewed each year, and you need to keep 800,000 baht (around $25k USD). The $25k is in a bank of your choice and can be used for day to day living expenses.You need to make sure the 800,000 baht is in the bank each year when you renew. The other option is to use an agent for a fee around $1,000 USD, and then none of the above applies. Way simpler and more cost effective than the SRRV - unless you’re a former soldier of course, then it’s cheaper in The Philippines.

    What I feel is so unfair is that dual citizenship is not available to US citizens. Filipinos can have dual citizenship in the United States so why isn't it available going the other way. I can have philippines citizenship but I have to give up my United States citizenship and with that my pension. That of course is a non-starter for me so I will have to be on the visitors visa merry-go-round or an srrv which is 10k in a bank for a security deposit. I'm not married to a Filipina so that visa isn't available to me so what else can I do?

    • @fruitloops3718
      @fruitloops3718 Месяц назад

      The reason Philippines doesn't allow dual citizenship with Americans is that they don't want the Philippines to turn into America lite.

    Fine she talks about what the SRRV is, but at no point does she say the service can be obtained FREE if her company is not used. So is a load of CRAP. The Philippine Retirement Authority provide consultants FOR FREE. NO COST. NO MONEY - GET THE POINT.
    Why do you only get people like this on???? IS it because they buy lunch or some other renumeration that PRA wont give you???????????????
    if you have any scrubles contact PRA and get one of their consultants on who can explain how it is a FREE SERVICE.
    I used them for my SRRV and they are great. VERY PROFESSIONAL. The line that companies like this use it that is can be complex and people may need help. HELLO, that is what the FREE PRA consultants are there. FOR NO COST NO MONEY......

    Why did your parents not buy a condo or home when they moved back to Manila instead of renting? Condos in BGC look overvalued compared to rents so assuming this may be why. I rather keep my money invested in the US and use the gains to pay rent and expenses. I do not see any plus of purchasing in BGC or Makati at this time. My wife’s a duel citizen so does not need a return ticket. They let me in without one to for I get a 1 year visa coming through with her because she is duel. Thanks and always watch all the commercials to help the channel.
