I first remember hearing this song in the first grade. Even as a kid I knew this song was special.
I am a green eyed ranchers daughter and from Oklahoma, born and raised on a family cattle ranch established in 1903.
This song is now and has been an anthem for many Oklahomans.
Now when I hear it my eyes fill up with tears- happy, proud, reminiscent and love.
As an adult, I have now lived on both coasts and Oklahoma still has, will always be and represent my home, Tiger Mountain Oklahoma.
Whenever I had to be gone getting home and stepping foot on the soil that has held my family's blood, sweat, tears, and proudest moments, I can FEEL the legacy of my family and our heritage that runs through my veins. There's no paradise on Earth like my paradise in Oklahoma.

Used to hear this in the tractor at 16 years old, working on Grandparents Ranch in East Texas, (Cherokee County, TX) just pining away for my girlfriend back in the big smoke of Ft Worth. Felt like the song was written for my dumb fool self! But that's exactly what good songs are supposed to do!! Still love it!

I was riding a John Deere tractor one evening in Kansas and I was missing my wife in Long Beach, CA. And this song came on the country radio station I was listening to, cried like a baby.

Listening to this song reminds me of my Papa (Grandpa) he used to sit in his garage working on his John Deere tractor listening to this song while my sister and I would sweep the floor. He died when I was 12.

When I left beautiful, peace loving Viet Nam I still had 13 months left of my 4 year service
i theUSAF so they sent me to Altus AFB Oklahoma. that was mid 60s. In a short time I fell in love with Oklahoma and the cowboy way. Real soon I was wearing boots and a black cowboy hat. I learned to be a cowboy you treat the ladies with courtesy and politely never cuss or be rude in front of a lady. Always tell the truth, look a man in the eye, and be honest. I left the USAF and gave the Atlanta Fire Dept 31 years. I'm am old man now but I still wear my black cowboy hat. I miss Oklahoma I like to think I'm still a cowboy I plead God bless America, God bless Oklahoma

Hey buddy, thank you for serving your country for SO many years! YOU are a TRUE warrior and a GOOD person at least to me. I am a firefighter for 39 years. I reckon I'm old now too. LOL! Time doesn't matter, I bought a new motorcycle two days ago! Thanks for your service buddy! Hang in there and enjoy the music!

I was dating a fine, wonderful, beautiful country girl when this song was released and introduced her to this song,,, I guess it was our song. I was sowing my oats around this same time and introduce this good girl to other things, too much grown up things about coming of age and I knew if she kept seeing me she would pick up those grown up things,, and in turn changing her and I couldn't be responsible for corrupting her. I broke up with her without much if any explanation and broke her heart but I knew where my life was taking me and I could not let her follow,,, I wish I could tell her today but I wouldn't want to bring any old pain into her good life (I pray it's just as wonderful as she was back then). I don't need forgiveness but I would like to tell her she didn't do anything wrong,, It was me. I cried so deeply hearing this for the first time since 1985ish I guess,,, Theresa I am sorry for hurting you because of my selfishness but I wanted to save you from much more pain you didn't deserve.

BUT, REMEMBERING IS ALL THAT I DO....
LOSING YOU LEFT A PRETTY GOOD COWBOY....
WITH NOTHING TO HOLD ON TO...
SUNDOWN CAME, AND I DROVE TO TOWN.... TO DRINK A DRINK, OR TWO...
CUZ, YOU'RE THE REASON GOD MADE FILIPINAS....YOU'RE THE REASON GOD MADE FILIPINAS, AND I'M SURE MISSING YOU....
YOU'RE THE REASON GOD MADE Tarlac City , AND I'M STILL MISSING YOU...

Being raised as one of the first baby boomer generation, I was priviledged to hear some of the best music since the creation of the song and instruments. There was a revolution in music from about 1945 thru about 1990. Country Western Swing. Classic, Gospel, Soul, all seemed to merge with new ideas on what made a song good. The result was the best music of all times. It died when Big business took it over and got rich on it. Those Idiots on "Americas Got Talent" are the judges of what we all should hear. Blame them. In the 60's and 70's you could cut your own record in a local studio, and promote it to radio stations and have a # 1 hit for a hundred bucks. Thanks for ruining it all Simon.
