I don’t think anyone would be surprised that these trucks are astronomically expensive, but even the laymen will understand after watching one of your videos. Not that any of us will EVER be able to afford one, it’s still nice to dream!
I think the hand painting of the letters in the knobs is a nice contrast. It makes it pop and is a nice touch. Plus, its like a nice personal touch when talking about attention to detail.
I recall you once said your only issue with your builds was that each one became your favorite and you couldn't keep them all. I get that entirely, each one you show us is the one that I want. I love the contract of the Chalk and the black chrome. Especially, as you said, the minor details of all the bolts and smaller trim. That leather is insane. I'm not sure I could say enough about this one. I have been looking forward to the video. Thank you for sharing. Always look forward to the next one. O.o and thank you, thank you for a Thriftmaster configurator. I love building new specs.
Great to see ya back here on RUclips with awesome new content! As usual, what an amazing example of the artistry and performance ICON brings to us in every single build! Huge fan!!! 👍🏼
Beautiful build, feel like I've been seeing more Porsche Chalk lately, just a great understated color. I like the hand painted knobs, such a cool font, it needs to be shown off. I loved the TR configurator as well, forgot to tell you, oh and interesting move for TLC
Another pice of rolling art…like the letters painted on the switches. I have built a couple of these Thriftmaster and struggled with reducing interior sound levels…on my last build I injected spray foam between the panels at the rear cab/window area and the difference was very significant. Just thought I would share that discovery. Your designs and thought process is second to none thank you for sharing so much of what you do.
As a Chalk GT3 Touring owner, I wholeheartedly approve! Great eye for aesthetic, as usual. The black chrome is almost equal measure the next dark tone from chrome as the Chalk is to white.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot to show this truck to whoever was the original owner and get his impression of the resurrection. As always, good job! I would be elated to own it.
Mi amigo, que hermosa camioneta, lo felicito. Ninguna que sea modelo nuevo se compara a mi parecer con tanta magia, belleza y estética en ese modelo 1.948.
Morning Jonathon this is absolutely beautiful, fantastic, purposeful built with care and attention to detail that is simply unbelievable. I live in Cape Town South Africa and came across the video on You Tube. I simply don't have the money to afford this TR#16 truck but man I can see myself driving this ride. We simply dont have access to this in South Africa but man oh man it would be awesome to have it in my garage. All the best and maybe one day soon I can make a trip to ICON in LA USA. Thank you for your input in this beautiful world.
Very big fan enjoy seeing these trucks they're fantastic is there fantastic I was wondering have you ever thought about doing a Dodge like 53 through 57D 100 with a modern day drive train especially that art Morrison Chassie
More ICON lust.... Man, if I ever win the lottery: A '54 or above Thriftmaster AND a late 30s-through-40s business coupe Derelict. You can book it now. 2 ICONS... I just gotta win the lottery!!!
this is a favourite game of mine! My lottery order would be an LS swapped E30 coupe, and an electric "Marty McFly" toyota truck......but the fantasy changes daily!
Love this. I think the black chrome would look awesome on dark grey or a dark green. One thing I personally have an issue with is the sun visor. It looks absolutely lethal, especially if it's positioned to the side. I can imagine even a minor impact resulting in some sort of severe head injury. You should nickname it the guillotine. :D
I like them but I feel you! We have a similar sun visor system on the locomotives at the railroad. And I have cracked my head on them more than I want to admit. One time I cut my forehead. However it's a neat piece on the truck.
The redemption for making things only for the rich is to make it better than they know, in other words make it for yourself. The art survives the price.
Off topic - why never a Troopy? Friend of mine inherited one from the mid 80’s from his father in law who used it for almost 35 years for countless expediton in Northern Africa, mostly into the Sahara. That thing has mojo in spades it almost tells you stories if you sit in it in silence for a while. I am usually not sentimental when it comes to cars but I swear that thing has Tuareg magic in it. Absolutely fascinating.
THE TRUE BEAUTY IS IN THE DETAILS . l love all the lil details like nothing is left untouched and that black chrome rocks !!! Hmmm l wonder what other body colors black chrome would go with?
Great job, again Jonathan ! I really like the finish of your product you are making. Doesn't matter which model of restore you do, they are great. Love it! ( From Canada )
The visors on my 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 series do in fact slide out and all the way to the side. In fact, there are two visors for both driver and passenger so while one is out blocking light from the side another can fold down and block light from the front. Yup. That's a Toyota Land Cruiser for you!
Been into customising for a long time now. Having something shop built should be something of an anti thesis. Maybe not when it's from Icon. Jonathan, you and the team's attention to detail is really something. Not just in the Thriftmaster series, but all through the derelict theme. The highest standards of thought then finish. I cant see me being a customer, but imitation might be the sincerest form of flattery. I'm wondering how to mount discreet led lighting into my track car. Thank you for the in depth videos. Andy.
Always enjoy your videos. Your workmanship and attention to detail whether a derelict or Thriftmaster are way above my mere skills but I can always dream :)
Another fabulous truck Jonathan - what a stunner, and the black chrome works brilliantly. The colours chosen for this truck are really nice. Did it take the owner long to finalise the spec? I'm definitely going to take an in-depth look at your new configurator!
@@ICON4x4Design I respect your combined decisiveness and great taste - the end result works really well. That Porsche crayon is a great colour. I'm sure that for every client with clarity of thought there are many who take a very long time to make up their mind! It must be quite something to say "Jonathan - that's my final spec."
Jonathan, I'm sure you get this a lot, but do you ever build vehicles with this level of craftsmanship and detail, but somewhat more affordable materials? I'd want something well built and reasonably fast, but I DON'T need German wool carpet or Italian leather, or the VERY BEST anything. Very GOOD is just fine. Or is it just more profitable for you to spend your shop time on the highest-end builds for the wealthiest clients (I wouldn't blame you if that's the case).
The flourescent orange in the dials was switched in later builds ? Maybe metal "hands" and a cream background with thin black lines like an expensive old watch ?!
Jonathan my friend... this is by far one of your greatest masterpieces 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 you never seize to impress us brother.. if I had to do mine it will definitely be a 4WD 4x4 TM
Yeah, I loved every aspect of this truck too. But there’s something about the bright bezel around the Rockford Fosgate sub between the seats that bothers me. I guess prefer audio to be heard and not seen.
These trucks are a fantastic work of remodelled automotive genius. I love the classic design but this, combined with your highly advanced modern reengineering techniques the result looks awesome. I am interested to know how much the cost of these vehicles comes out at. Couldn't see anything about that aspect. Very enjoyable videos.
A literal work of art! Wow!!! I'm always expecting that your clients will start moving to an EV drivetrain for your Thriftmasters & Broncos, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Any signs of this on the horizon?
@@carholic-sz3qv Are you sure? Jonathan said the VW 'Thing' was his first EV conversion, and he has only done the '49 Mercury since then (as far as I can recall).
Good God, I can't even imagine how much money was spent on all that black chrome. Is it like a candy (paint) black coat over regular chrome, or a chemical process? Will it scratch?
Beautiful builds, I've watched your builds over the years and every one always more impressive then the last. I'm working on my 52 chevy 3100. I'm looking for a replacement bench seat for comfort. What bench are you using for these trucks. I can't seem to find the one your using. Thanks for putting some beautiful in the world
Great work ! I have a 52 Chevy 3100 5 window in my garage for 10 years, haven't been able to finish it, for one reason or other cab and original frame has been sun blasted, have all after market body parts, air bag suspension front and back, no motor or transmission, anybody wants to finish the project ?
Dude. Nobody with any sense, even a rich one, drives a vehicle this pristine in snow and ice. You should have a beater Jeep or Explorer (or Range Rover, if you're a snob) for that crap.

Simple but stunningly complex at the same time. Just beautiful.
Thanks for doing these, and showing that craftsmanship and design still exist today.
Just a beautiful all round package Jonathan. Nailed it. Your innovation seems to have have no bounds. Greetings from Perth, Western Australia.

Never been a gray color fan, but with the black chrome this truck just smokes! I'd order it exactly the same...Well done.

Wasn't expecting it to look so sexy in that color, wow!

Did anyone notice how quiet the cab interior was in the vid? Jon - great truck!!
Just a curiosity. How are things going finding donor trucks for these?
Another beast. Fantastic truck!!
Eleven hours to wait for the video!
