  • This is my entry to the "Moog Circuit Bending Challenge 2017." In this video I will show the steps I took to circuit bend, hack and modify my Casio casiotone MT-100 into something new altogether.
    I call my modified version the AccompuTone.
    The AccompuTone includes an added Arpeggio with volume and four modes, mute switches for Chord, Bass and all individual Drum sounds, with a drum patch bay that give the ability to trigger any drum sound from any drum trigger. I also added two different Envelope modes, reverb switch, pitch bend, LP filter and digital delay with two types of feedback control.

      Yes I ordered the cut off and res filter and delay, still waiting for some parts but I will be in touch. I'm doing a MT-65 trying emulate Mt-400v.

    • @SISKworks
      @SISKworks  7 лет назад

      Jason Piekacz awesome. You should make a video of your build process. I actually have a MT-400v too but I don't think I'll be modifying that one. It's pretty cool as it is.

    • @jasonpiekacz3271

      I'm thinking about the build video idea, good suggestion. I have a MT-400 too but If you use wah and chorus LFO and then input into some serious delay the sound turns to liquid. Therefore It must be Bent.

      Hey, Mike I have a question. I want to add a ring modulator but it uses 4 diodes and needs a signal amp. Does either the delay or cut off have any significant amplification potential for this application?

    That's really great. Awesome project. You included everything I would if I could do this. The only thing I might have added which might improve it is some kind of simple fuzz or overdrive circuit. There are some very simple circuits that can do that and distortion really helps to thicken up the sound of a Casio type keyboard.

    • @SISKworks
      @SISKworks  6 лет назад +2

      Paul TheSkeptic thank you. Great suggestion about some type of distortion circuit. But there is only so much you can squeeze out of the $70 budget limit. Maybe next year I'll work one in.

    Do you replace the line out jack on these cheap casios? Everytime I've tried to use one they sound terrible. Even after being cleaned.

    • @SISKworks
      @SISKworks  Год назад

      Yes. For this one the audio out of the keyboard feeds into a Low Pass Filter and then to a PT2399 Delay and then to the 1/4” output jack.

    Hey Mike! Really impressive work with this one. I'm not even a novice when it comes to electronics, but I was wondering if you'd be able to modify it to trigger the drums with an external source and cv-input? Also is it possible to add individual outputs for each drum sound?
    Regards

    • @SISKworks
      @SISKworks  Год назад

      Thanks so much. Yeah I think each drum sound could modified to be triggered from an external source. I did that to a Yamaha DD-5. I’m not too sure about individual drum outputs though, I would think no.

    Awesome work, really neat and tidy.
    Do you think the points you connect the switches to mute individual drum sounds (and the bass and chord sounds) would be good places to connect an output jack each for single outs? I was thinking to use TRS so plugging a cable into a single out would cut that sound from the summed output...when I figure out the right places to hack in for each sound.

    • @SISKworks
      @SISKworks  3 года назад

      No, I don’t think so. I think it is just the tigger signal since coming from main IC.

    • @dmthandmade5674

      @@SISKworks Ah, I thought that was just the swaps and the mutes were switching audio.
      Oh well, back to the drawing board (and the audio probing).
      Thanks for the inspiration.

      @@SISKworks If I might trouble you with another question. Do you think the envelope circuit you have to add for the arpeggiator could be altered to make the note length adjustable, perhaps by swapping that 100k resistor out for a pot?

    • @SISKworks
      @SISKworks  3 года назад +1

      Thank you. Since most of my mods are actually "easter eggs" features that were intended for other casio models it made my keyboard sound very factory. It is also VERY stable and never locks up because of that.

      This model is somewhat hard to find so you would have to supply the keyboard for me to modify. I am not really interested in selling mine just yet (unless a crazy offer was made). So I would say first hunt down a MT-100 and then send me a message and maybe we can work something out.

      @SISKworks  6 лет назад

      haha. That is in a strange way a good idea. I think my problem with this challenge is that I can't think outside the box enough. I can circuit bent just fine but I have a hard time creating something totally unique. Now to find a top hat a guess?

    • @pedalfiles4441
      @pedalfiles4441 6 лет назад

      Mike Sisk that is why you should collaborate with someone who has really original ideas but isn’t very good at circuit bending. I could probably direct you to the right people if you wanted to entertain this idea. A buddy of mine just created a program that lets us stream a live performance and sends midi to watchers so they can play along with us.
