George Harrison - Give Me Love (Live 1974 Neon Chimp Edit).

  • More footage from George's 1974 North American tour, more audio from Fort Worth Texas. When I started this project I only really intended to do a couple of songs and leave it at that, now it's at a point where there is only a couple of songs to go and I've done all of George's songs from the Fort Worth concert (I haven't done anything for Billy Preston, Tom Scott or Ravi Shankar's songs and at this stage don't intend to). It's been fun creating a visual for a show that not many people have seen. As I've mentioned before, there is a full pro shot show in the Dark Horse vault and there was talk of it being rleased as few years ago but nothing came of it. Needless to say, should it ever be released, this and the other videos from this 'concert movie' are not intended as competition for any official release, it's just something I wanted to see and something I thought others might also enjoy.

    George singing this song is just supernatural. Sometimes life gets challenging and then you hear a song like this one and life feels better again.

      Harrison DID cancel this tour, for that precise reason (he had a severe case of laryngitis.) After a handful of concerts, he aborted the remaining concerts that were on the schedule.

      No, he did not. Played 45 shows! I saw him in Chicago. He struggled with his voice, but we loved him for absolutely singing his heart out. It was one of my favorite concerts.@@patrickcolon8809

    I saw George at the Cow Palace in November 1974. I heard he was having vocal difficulties before he got to SF but he sounded fine that night. It was festival seating back then so we ran right to the front of the stage when the doors opened so it was a birds eye view of George from about 20 feet away. A night to remember....

    It's great that the LITMW documentary has renewed interest in George's solo career. Hopefully we can finally get a proper DVD of this concert, because from a historical and curiosity standpoint, it's probably among the most wanted releases in popular music. Who cares if he's hoarse, it's George Harrison in concert.

    I read somewhere critics called this "the dark hoarse" tour due to his strained voice. I also read his "Dark Horse" album was an album that should never had happened. But for those who were privilaged enough to see George back in 1974 I salute you!

    I like it, it shows his work ethic and integrity. How many of today's artists, would go on with the show or resort to lip syncing? Its painful to hear only in that I wonder if it was hurting him.

  • @rainday6
    @rainday6 11 лет назад +1

    I was at the one in Ft. Worth. It was much more excellent than the recordings (I have a recording of it myself, actually, made on a little hand recorder I sneaked in); the only negative was that it was VERY heavy on the Krishna stuff, and if that wasn't your thing, you could feel alienated.

    • @derekec

      He was panned by the press for that. I recall hurting so much living in NYC and not being allowed to go to any concerts (double whammy of overprotective cheap parents) but followed so closely, They called him preachy. Guess he was at that time but hell the music is what counts most. I missed George, John and Paul at MSG while my friends went - major loss and regret to this day.

    I saw him on that 74 tour. His singing voice was a little disappointing, but hell, I was in the presence of George freakin' Harrison. The only Beatle I ever saw live. I still have a chance at catching Paul or Ringo live someday. Paul's going to outlive everybody and be the wealthiest man in the history of show business.

    If George had toured anytime in the last 20 years of his life, it would have been sold out shows across the globe. Sadly, this tour soured him on live performances for good. Not for our good though. Poor guy. He was really struggling to sing for a whole tour.
