- Hey guys! thejazzMOM13 has returned! :D After filming a trip of hers about a year ago and seeing how well it was received on RUclips, my mom decided to film another trip across the pond! She doesn't have as good of equipment as I do, so you'll definitely notice a difference, but I always think it's cool to see how someone else films their journey. (Edited by me of course)
Anyways, welcome to this full flight video aboard a United Airlines B777-200 from Washington Dulles, Virginia, USA over to Frankfurt, Germany! It is also my first 777 vid on the channel! Compared to Lufthansa's offering on the same route, UA really isn't on their level yet...however, I am noticing that they are trying to improve their product a lot more - most likely because of all the heat they've been getting. But there still are some kinks that I think could be improved a lot including the seats themselves, some better food offerings, and timeliness (this flight departed & arrived late). The service & FAs were great though, even if it was a transatlantic eastbound overnight flight. And the selection of entertainment was excellent along with there being power outlets & USB ports at every seat - all big pluses. As far as the airports, Dulles' Concourse C is not great at all but Frankfurt Airport on the other hand is a top of the line busy European airport hub with plenty of amenities. More of FRA in my next vid. Hope you guys enjoy this video!

Never ceases to amaze me how big the 777 is as a twinjet, I'm glad you got to fly on one!
Largest engines on a commercial airliner too, 166in maximum diameter.
@@mattmammone2338 Yep!
What also amazes me is that it doesn't have a jet bridge in a big airport like FRA
Thanks for the opera at the end, I really liked that xxx
I was on crutches and our flight kept getting cancelled due to weather last time I flew United, and we eventually had to transfer airports to get a nonstop flight that day, and I don't think United could have handled the situation any better than they did. United is definitely stepping up their game and I would totally fly them again.
Great video of a great flight!!! Thank you for letting us ride along! All the best my friend!!!
Just flew United for the first time aboard a 787-10 Dream Liner to EWR New Jersey / New York and a 777-200 omw back to LAX a few weeks ago and I will most likely stick to United going forward. Great video.
the guy flight attendant at 19:01 is a cousin of mine actually hope you enjoy frankfurt. unless you already went and are back in the states.
Hey very cool! :D Yah just was connecting through FRA back in Nov 2019 to Poland, but was a very nice trip!
I took this same flight in 2017 onboard N204UA, another 777-200.
I bet that both the United and Lufthansa flights to Frankfurt were 777s. I saw at 1:29 - 1:37 that there's one of each going to Frankfurt, an hour apart from each other (United at 5:20 and Lufthansa at 6:20). I wonder which of the 2 would be a better flight.
Both the dinner and the breakfast didn't look bad at all. I guess that US airlines can serve decent meals, but the problem is that most of them simply don't serve meals except on long distance international flights
@@alvexok5523 Lufthansa doesn’t have 777s for passenger service. They use the Boeing 747-8 on the IAD-FRA route
@@K4Ediamond Yeah, you're right actually. Lufthanza is one of the few airlines which still operate a large fleet of 747s rather than 777s and 787s like many airlines do.
Also, I liked the division of 4 different classes on that flight. I'm not totally sure the prices for each on the United Washington to Frankfurt IAD - FRA flight, but I flew United (also 777) from Newark to London, and it was $890 for a regular economy seat, and $200 more for economy plus. For premium plus, it's around 45% more than an economy ticket, about $1,290 or $1,300. To me, the latter may be worth saving the extra $, but the polaris business is like $4,000, it's usually 4 to 5 times the price of economy. Alot of the passengers traveling in that section though probably haven't paid that full price because they've either been upgraded through frequent flyer miles (or bumped up for some incidental reason), they're executives and their business is paying the fare, or maybe they're just someone wealthy who can afford the whole fare without making a big difference in their savings (or also a family member traveling with the wealthy passenger). I guess each business class passenger has a different reason for being there. Anyway, it's certainly out of my price range. I may over time be able to save for a premium plus ticket though
Hello TJG and enjoyed the video very much! Nice to see a flight to my native country! Nice of you to mention Mainz while flying over. Been there many times! Thanks very much for your talent and looking forward to the next! German Opera is boring! :D Loved your classic intro/outro tunes as usual. Your channel is the BEST! Ricky :)
Can you please bring back the thing where you show places around the town or city where ur gonna take off from. It's really good.
KBUR Aviation JaweaiAqii
OMG that airport train travelled fast !
I think it was just the camera sped up
@@MatthewsAviationChannel yeah, I noticed that too though, the way the looks of the wall sped by before the train slowed down.
It's also interesting how many different sections there were on that flight, business, premium, economy plus, and economy. The last 2 looked the same since they had the same seat configuration 3/4/3, but I think the difference was that the economy plus rows were a little more spaced apart giving more legroom, even though the seats themselves were exactly the same
Really great you added text so that we know what's going on
Great trip report! 2 hot meals for this flight were good. Your mom filmed this video very well, the quality is very good despite filmed by the 6S
Great review! Loved the seatback design of these retrofitted seats :)
The current Memphis airport terminal looks like a church from the 1980s
Your Mum has full applause from me! (I used the British "Mum", dunno why...). I'm retired UAL captain, BTW.
EDIT: Very glad to see the correct term "lavatory" used, and not (as some trip-bloggers say, "bathroom")!! In the aviation "BIZ", they are, and always have been Lavatories (or "Lavs", for short!).
In the U.K. it’s known as the toilet and we abbreviate that to “loo” ! We’re a funny (weird) lot! 😂😂
Good report. Your commentary about the United terminal at IAD is right on the money; a dilapidated old dump. With the covid travel slow down there is no way United will have the cash to build the new terminal closer to the tram stop as was intended when they build the tram.
It must be feel rare not too many people on the airplane now on this day
NGL, I kind of like the idea of using remote stands for a wide body because it really lets you get closed to such a big beast.
like the old SAS livery versus the new
I love how it’s night
Very good video
Thank you!
Was that really your sister
So,I am to assume that only your mom and sister made the journey across the pond and you stayed home? If so,interesting that even though Mom filmed the flight and FRA footage, you use the first person 'I' as if you were there as well. Did Mom use miles to pay for the flight? Even though it was about 730am local time, what did jet lag (body time) say it was? Flying EB is always harder on the body.
Welcome to Frankfurt man!
Also, YOU GOT THE FORBIDDEN COFFEE!
I'd agree that this flight should have met (though not necessarily exceeded) the expectations of most people. I'd be unhappy with the snug legroom on such a long flight, and you lucked out with an empty middle seat. I wouldn't call the alleged breakfast a hot meal, but the dinner looked adequate for Economy, and that's all I would expect. I liked seeing the overhead map in addition to the IFE at the seats. Looks like UA is trying!
IAD to San Diego would be South West, seeing as though San Diego is South in California
Awesome video man
The mobile lounge is definitely a rarity nowadays, considering that's how Dulles was during the days of yore.
InstaBlaster.
St. Louis International had them too back in their TWA years
I was stationed in Germany in the early 1980's....at the time Rhein Mein AB was there and shared runways with FRA International Airport.
Nice video, I enjoyed watching it. Thank you! George
going on this flight tomorrow im excited its normally delayed quite often though
I hope you had an amazing flight on this one!
Looks like the Terminal is a non user friendly.
You put a laughing emoji before the best part by far of this rather ho hum video, the German lieder? It was fabulous!
Haha glad you liked it! Wasn't sure how y'all would respond to it :D
thejazzguy13 Aviation Just don’t put a laughing face after announcing it. It makes you look as if you are making fun of it!
bring back the queen of the skies! 747!
I miss United’s 747 :(
Though this is an old video, do you remember what the registration for the plane was?
Love the video.
When did u go through customs? Before or after boarding the aerotrain?
You don't have to go through customs when traveling internationally at dulles until you arrive at your destination
Great video!
I agree
Awesome video👍👍
hope you had fun!
Might wanna catch a ride on an american a330-300 before they go out of service ;)
great vids
Judah Hall you know they already did, right? And he already has a video on one.
sorry but all autobahns have suggested speed limits and most of them you really cannot go fast because most autobahns are being worked on constantly anyway.
From what I read, they are planning on rebuilding the D gates in a different spot and are going to extend the train to D then.
Hey, they didn’t extended it to D because United is going to tear down C and D and build a new terminal that will be way nice for C and D where C currently sits! They will then probably make some tram adjustments!
Nice review mate :)
Thank you bro!
Nice review. Is it his is before lockdown?
i wish i could travel as much as you do
I thought United's 777-200s featured a domestic configuration.. or wait.. is this a 777-200ER?
What was the name of the opera please? Bitte....?
Bitte?
Ich grolle nicht :)
@@thejazzguy13 Danke! Many thanks
what was the approximate temp in Frankfurt when this was filmed?
I believe around 4.5 C (40 F)
Breakfast looks pathetic. Is that normal size on those flights (for UA)?
Yah normal on European flights, I believe Asia flights you get a larger breakfast/2nd meal
Good video, why don't you do a 747 video, in memory of KLM's fleet
Well I believe they already stopped flying the 747 unfortunately, but I do have some KLM vids coming up in probably a couple months
Nice
You know, I hate it when there is a bus gate for heavies like 777-200. It’s an insult.
I do as well...they deserve a jetbridge
Just a question.Aren’t you supposed to respect people’s privacy and not show their faces while filming?I know it may sometimes be difficult or impossible but I noted this occurred quite frequently in this video.
Yeah and in several of his videos too
There was a woman 7:24 - 7:25 who seemed to not be giving him a very nice look as he was walking back to find his seat, I wonder if that was because she could tell he was filming
Constant velocity under taxing and acceleration during takeoff!
1 minute : Yeti spotted, send frame capture to National Geographic!
just in time for a wakeup call at breakfast your favorite sound
as soon as you printed the remote stand your favorite noise piped up with displeasure
the dreaded middle seat
Driven the autobahn many times.
I saw Dulles town center
your dad's apartment doug in aunt joan's house oversold a painting that charges about $50,000/year
3:15 - how come your flight wasn't at the international terminal?
i think a 777-300 is longer than a 346
IAD Washington DC to Frankfurt FRA
you should film the atlanta plane train ride sometime
Would definitely like to! Not having JFK or ATL on my channel are probably the two biggest holes I got
@@thejazzguy13 also fly to JFK and do some spotting with qfs aviation and fly Delta into JFK and explore terminal 4 which is the best terminal there at JFK and do plane spotting from the TWA hotel and maybe fly Delta to ATL as well or Southwest airlines and explore the plane train plus love atlantas terminal lots of restaurants to eat at as well and get to atlantas airport 4 hours prior to departure just to explore
Yah man all good things & would love to film a vid with him if he's up for it when things go back to normal
@@thejazzguy13 maybe fly southwest from pittsburgh or baltimore to omaha via chicago midway also what year are you in school
Ko
United #989 take off IAD-FRA (D.C to Frankfurt
The food looks absolutely awful. Fit for pigs.
Did you guys notice about the intro
there always sho the airplane in 1 piece but in reality its going to be broke apart in numerous places
Washington D.C to Frankfurt
With the exception of the dessert, the food looks horrendous. Typical for United
Not a very nice building to welcome visitors to America’s capital.
Lufthansa said not to go DC IAD to Frankfurt FRA because Lufthansa is sick 😷
the mobile lounge gives you better views
i hear your favorite pax
This was a particularly bad one 😭
Unacceptable to Be Deplaning on air stairs From Jumbo Jet in the twenty first century. and Supposed you are physically challenged and can't Climb up or down stairs and have a carry-on , I guess i will never go to Germany
Yah I completely agree! 777s should have jetbridges without question, unless the airport doesn't have one
C concoused a dump other concourse a lot nicer
No LH only Ua
Do you have a snapchat?
So old and depressing
Pretend turbulence
+
Sorry lots of stupid and rude passengers had to be on the flight with you
7:24 & 7:30?
@@MatthewsAviationChannel I noticed them too, especially the lady at 7:24, that was a pretty mean look. I'm guessing that she was upset because she knew she's being filmed and really didn't want that, maybe she recognized "the jazz guy" since he's done alot of videos now, and knew that she'd be on RUclips. The guy at 7:30, probably same deal. Or maybe they didn't recognize him but could still tell he was recording with his phone.
7:40, was that really his sister? I don't get the joke if she wasn't
See my above reply..
Also, some people probably just aren't in the best mood when they know they have 9 hours ahead of them in a tiny closed-in little economy seat. Didn't the people in polaris business class look to be in better moods? Or even premium plus?
I think his sister was the one wheeling the suitcase.
Yeah, IAD to FRA is a long flight for plain economy.
Hey sister darling Maryam Bogura Silicone Bangladesh.
They bring too much crap on the planes
why would I subscribe to something annoying, how does this guy know where planes are headed, much kess the flight or serial number(?).and then the names of the german cities in the dark. this guy I think is fake, and rather homely
It's not fake...it's called RESEARCH. I put a lot of time into making sure everything I put is accurate. I look up the tail numbers on passing aircraft to determine where they are/were headed to & the cities below in the dark I carefully pin point from flight tracker to google maps what every city I pass is. It's all totally real and took a lot of time to create sir.
@@thejazzguy13 Chris, ignore that idiot, you are awesome
