You just blew my mind! This was the missing part of my swing. Now my arms and body feel connected for a more consistent swing plane! Thank you from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!
I’ve watched similar videos on this routine and they were game changing. The subtle difference with this video is the slowing motion practice…absolutely excellent
Hi Jesse, good to hear from you. Yes all well thanks hope you are too, and thanks for the continued support. If it’s good enough for Rosie it’s good enough for most I say! 🌹
Thanks, Warren. I just returned from the driving range using those tips you gave. I see results and something to focus on when targeting our body movement and timing. Indeed it is so true ... "Repetition is the mother of skill!"
After watching videos of my swing I noticed that the first move in transition was a slight forward movement (towards the ball) of my right shoulder, causing the club to become more vertical and creating an out to in swing path. To avoid that initial move I just started dropping/lowering my arms in transition. Instant cure. Watching your video has now solidified my thinking. My ball flight has turned from a fade to a consistent draw. Great video! I’m now a subscriber to your channel.
Thanks for this message and well done to you, it’s so great to know as golfers that we have a solution eh? Takes all the stress and pressure away as if we fall into the bad habit again, we have a way to cure it. I wish you well going forward Warrem
Thanks for the amazing video. The drill to get the arms to drop is excellent to build memory. But even more helpful for me is to turn the hips afterwards! Concentrating on turning on the backswing and downswing created severe faults in my swing.
Hi Robert, many thanks for your message, yes a lot of problems in golfers can happen before impact and I’m an advocate of matching the club up to impact and then a pivot/twist happens post impact to support the release. Wishing you well Warren

You have certainly described my swing issues! I have tried this "drop down" exercise before but the tendency to swing out and over the top always comes back. I video my practice and I can't tell you how many times my first couple of swings at the range looked and felt good, but then the remaining 90% of the session was the "old" swing. I'd go home thinking that I'd made good progress, but when I watched the video it was the same old story. I'm going to take your advice and do the SLOW drill for the entire practice and see if it really can become "muscle memory". Thanks for the encouragement!!
Cheers Warren, I need to get on my mat and net at home again and work on drills. I have been going to the range a lot more over the last couple of weeks and I feel I’ve got control over a few areas but the connection with arms and body needs some more work. Better get back to drills at home! I do love your drill halfway back in backswing to halfway through on follow through, and keeping head down. That’s really helped me keep my right elbow tighter to body in downswing and generally keeping width in my swing, that’s a real doozie of a drill! Cheers mate
Thanks for you message, it’s never a bad thing to get away from drills from time to time, you’ve got the most important bit right, you have the awareness to get back and know what works for you. In Tuesday’s video ‘Game Changer’ I talk about that drill 👍 Many thanks Warren

So well explaining what to do instead of focusing on what not to do. You repeating makes it understanding how to swing properly and how to practice.! Thanks Warren
I've tried this vertical drop exercise drill from other coaches on Y-T, but all I manage to do is consistently have toe strikes. I hope your drill makes a difference.
This can happen Dennis, two things really. 1. Do you need to do it? Being too inside coming in to the ball will give you toe strikes. 2. If you do need to work on being more inside because you’ve been say too OTT, you may need to feel your hands and club releasing away from you, feeling of hitting right. Because if you’re steep and out coming down, you’re probably used to cutting across the ball and if you do that release from this drill position, you’re probably used will always toe strike it. Hard to k ow for sure but hope that can help. Warren
Warren it’s 23 degrees F and snowing outside a desert island sounds great right! Another winter hit into the net drill to be added. Thank you. Also agree the indoor ranges get pricy. Besides I’m looking more for positions in the swing not ball flight during the off season.
Great drill. The process reminds me of Ron del Barrio’s swing YT lessons: “thumbs up - drop & turn”. I recite it through the swing - helps both in the swing process and to keep relaxed.
Hi there, you definitely can do it with longer clubs but I feel the instinct is too strong sometimes when doing it with say a 5i or driver, to try and hit it too hard and do too big a pump, because the golfer feels they have to create more speed to get the ball in the air. Hence more loft. If you can avoid these pitfalls, by all means it’s very beneficial for all clubs. I hope this helps Warren
Hi Paul, thanks for the message and the follow. Yeah I k ow what you mean, still trying to master that one! The waffle meter can go high sometimes! But on the other side of the coin, things and especially the golf swing isn’t as easy as just change or do that, there’s always consequences behind the action and where it can lead to etc. so I try and cover those eventualities too. But I am aware of trying to not repeat or go on but that is a bit of my personality. Thanks very much Paul Warren

Warren the concept of "pressure" coming down you and also Cowan have revealed is very fasinating. I have been pondering the true meaning of this "pressure". Can you help us clearly understand it?
Hi Carl, it will be a very long message to explain the concept. A very skimmed explanation is it’s a combination of movements of the legs, torso, and arms/hands that pressurises the club. It’s all a combination, but this drill shows how the arms help with this pressure, but doesn’t explain the movements of the torso and legs. I have a video coming out in a couple of weeks explaining a little more on this. Thanks for your message Warren
H! Warren: Thank you very much for your lesson. I am little confused whether hands drop first or lower body turn comes first or both movement at same time in the downswing? thanks
It really is the lower body initiates the dropping of the hands, arms and club, in a perfect world. But I’ve seen and witnessed many golfers who worked on shifting still have the arms and club fishing out, probably because of many years of swinging that way or it’s just a bad habit. So this drill is just an exaggerated reminder to tell the arm and club to drop down, then when everything gets back to normal it will help to blend. Hoping that helps. Regards Warren
Hi warren I keep watching this video it is so good,my club slips and turns do you think I am holding it to loose about 3or4 out of 10 I slice the ball that is why I like this video, thank you so much 👍🏌🏿♂️
Hi Richard, it could be grip pressure, it may be caused by off centred strikes, toe strikes being one of the main causes for club head twisting at impact. If you’re a slicer that can happen as the club cuts across the ball, so hopefully this drill can help. You can check club face strikes by spraying on impact spray or even if you slightly dampen the face, do this only on a range though. Hope this helps and wishing you well. Warren
Hi Gary, yes I agree, the shifting definitely is one of the influences behind the drop down move of the arms and club, as explained in previous videos, especially the recent one, Shift & Separate. This is a drill to give the the arms and club a big reminder to behave as sometimes, if the OOT move is extreme, it needs a big nudge. Many thanks Warren
Great stuff, again. Perhaps that clip of Moe Norman saying, when asked the most important thing of his swing, he said without hesitation: "the vertical drop"....could be added/ inserted? Be great to see how he exaggerates the position so increasing the feeling of ,"greatness"...!😂😊
Hi Warren I had a game of golf today and I really done well and I’m so pleased with this video as it showed me how to manoeuvre the club back to the ball with the vertical drop. and not holding the club at 8 out of 10 like the pro at my club told me,I took on board what you said and held it at about 4 out of 10 and I came first out of 29 in a competition, thank you 👏👏👍🏌🏿♂️
Hi Richard, wow thank you for letting me know and well done in your performance. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know and wishing you continued good play. Kind regards Warren
In a perfect world there should be a shifting to initiate and help the drop, this is to really give the arms, hands and club a massive reminder to drop, as if the fault of OTT is severe they will need to be educated to move that way. Many thanks and hope this helps Warren

@ thanks for taking the time to reply. The Rory Mcilroy one certainly applies to me. Funnily enough, like him I also haven’t won a major for a while. Now I know why.
Can we do this drill sequence with driver then? I thought he said not to use the longer clubs early in the video then said can use any club later in the video…makes more sense to use all clubs. ??
Hi Rob, you can do the movements with any club I’m just in favour of doing the drill with a ball with more lofted clubs, as if you do it with say a driver, the instinct is to do too big a pump to create momentum and this can lead to bad habits. But doing just swings without a ball I would encourage yes. Hope this helps Warren
Hi you seem a lovely guy but cannot get on with 95 percent arm swing. Just creating blocks and chunk shots. It works for you but not for others . My body swings my arms. Via the ground force. Sorry
Hi mark, thanks for your message and letting me know, that’s all good, not every video or every feeling is for everyone, and cannot be layered into a golfers move. Thank you for taking the time out to comment. Warren
Start with the premise no one needs to pass on a billion dollars. If America wants to be a meritocracy, there’s some number where an estate should be significantly taxed. I’ve met several billionaires, I doubt any would be billionaires if they were born in South Sudan. Our American system created a framework for their wealth, so they should pay for that framework. Won’t happen the next 4 years under Trump, just more massive deficits.
Always best doing drills with a bit of loft Richard, takes away the instinct to hit hard to get in the air say with a 5iron. Can still do drills with longer clubs, I just recommend practice swings really. Many thanks Warren

Hi there, you definitely can do it with longer clubs but I feel the instinct is too strong sometimes when doing it with say a 5i or driver, to try and hit it too hard and do too big a pump, because the golfer feels they have to create more speed to get the ball in the air. If you’re a slicer that can happen as the club cuts across the ball, so hopefully this drill can help. You can check club face strikes by spraying on impact spray or even if you slightly dampen the face, do this only on a range though.
Hope this helps and wishing you well.
Warren
I seen the Detroit Tiger hat and I was like that boy knows what it's doing
I love it too ⚾️
❤
By moving your lower body, arms will auto droppredd then turn snd release.
Many thanks

Great stuff, again. Perhaps that clip of Moe Norman saying, when asked the most important thing of his swing, he said without hesitation: "the vertical drop"....could be added/ inserted? Be great to see how he exaggerates the position so increasing the feeling of ,"greatness"...!😂😊
Hi Pete, yes love that bit of film too, I may do another film on Mo 👍
Thinking about golf when you have the snowblower going can be dangerous 😁.🇨🇦
😆
Hi Warren I had a game of golf today and I really done well and I’m so pleased with this video as it showed me how to manoeuvre the club back to the ball with the vertical drop. and not holding the club at 8 out of 10 like the pro at my club told me,I took on board what you said and held it at about 4 out of 10 and I came first out of 29 in a competition, thank you 👏👏👍🏌🏿♂️
Hi Richard, wow thank you for letting me know and well done in your performance. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know and wishing you continued good play.
Kind regards
Warren
Love it
Thank you Alan
Enjoy your lessons. Do you feel that you turn your upper body into your right hip? Thanks
Yes kind of, probably more torso belly button area initiating the twist into the hip\leg
Regards
Warren
👍👍👍
dont worry about the chatter , vids are perfect mix and pace , for me anyway
Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated 🙏
Well, probably colder than your neck of the woods. Golf season here is done. Won’t be out again until April.
Wow that’s a long time! Hope you can get some indoor practice done 👍
Repetition in the mother of skill 🤣😂👌
😊😊😊
Excellent! My only question is this , does pressure in the left foot trigger the drop or should they just happen together?
In a perfect world there should be a shifting to initiate and help the drop, this is to really give the arms, hands and club a massive reminder to drop, as if the fault of OTT is severe they will need to be educated to move that way.
Many thanks and hope this helps
Warren
Exactly what I’m working on atm. I’m very upper body dominant which often causes OTT swings. When I get this right on the course it’s money
Wishing you well and thanks for you for watching and messaging.

Does this move work with the driver /woods & Hybrids ?
Hi, yes absolutely, even better with a driver 👍
I think I have taken this too far, now coming too far from inside and either pushing, duck hooks or drop kicking. Do you have any videos to help me?
@@stanleycollymore1110 hi it sounds like you don’t need any of this I will send you a link to a video or two to help. I hope it does

@ thanks for taking the time to reply. The Rory Mcilroy one certainly applies to me. Funnily enough, like him I also haven’t won a major for a while. Now I know why.
Is this drop the same with all clubs please incl the driver
Yes it is Kevin, any club full swing 👍
@ thankyou
Can we do this drill sequence with driver then? I thought he said not to use the longer clubs early in the video then said can use any club later in the video…makes more sense to use all clubs. ??
Hi Rob, you can do the movements with any club I’m just in favour of doing the drill with a ball with more lofted clubs, as if you do it with say a driver, the instinct is to do too big a pump to create momentum and this can lead to bad habits. But doing just swings without a ball I would encourage yes.
Hope this helps

Oh by the way, I’m from Winnipeg in Canada.
Sound lovely but hopefully not too cold 🇬🇧👍 🇨🇦
☝️☝️🙏🙏🙏🤘👍👍
Warren have you done an ‘Autobiography’ video?
Not really, I’m filming a q&a on Friday so if you would like any questions answered please leave in community post or on the socials.
Cheers
Warren
I think a lot of us would love to hear your upbringing in the game and share some details on your Open experiences!
@@jessewatson8281 thanks Jesse 👍
Very dry in the uk, ahem, please warren if you will give me a private lesson i will come round and tidy your garden for you, how does that sound.
Filmed a couple of weeks ago when it was calm, literally the calm before the storm hit! Certainly not now eh!?
Too true.

Is it the same drill for the driver
Hi Andy, yes can do the same for a driver, I recommend just doing practice swings with a driver though.
All the best
Warren
Hi you seem a lovely guy but cannot get on with 95 percent arm swing. Just creating blocks and chunk shots. It works for you but not for others . My body swings my arms. Via the ground force. Sorry
Hi mark, thanks for your message and letting me know, that’s all good, not every video or every feeling is for everyone, and cannot be layered into a golfers move.
Thank you for taking the time out to comment.

Looks like your golf academy has hit hard times coach!
Hopefully the content is the most aspect of the channel 👍
Sorry it’s an 8iron you have 👍🏌🏿♂️
Always best doing drills with a bit of loft Richard, takes away the instinct to hit hard to get in the air say with a 5iron. Can still do drills with longer clubs, I just recommend practice swings really.
Many thanks
