- Catch and cook octopus for lunch! My old man really knows how to spot the tricky octopi while we are snorkeling! It is so much harder than it looks. They can turn into any color or texture in a second. They blend in (almost) perfectly with whatever rocks or corral they are on, but somehow he knows how to spot "rocks" that are just a little bit different than the others. I recently had a Hawaiian tell me that there are guys that have been octopus hunters for years and they still have a hard time spotting them!

Are you going to get mad at a dog for killing a bug? No? Well then don’t get mad for them eating a octopus. But we are civilized beings that have no use for eating animals besides for our own selfish needs.
Ok just gotta say right away this comment is not meant to be rude or hostile in any way, I just wanted to address some of the comments talking about how the octopus should’ve been left alone or how it was cruel. First, although you might think that it would be absurd to eat some things (like octopus or squid for example) you have to accept the fact that not everyone will think like you or eat exactly how you eat. If you dislike eating a certain thing than it’s fine, but that doesn’t mean others are not allowed to eat that same thing anymore. Secondly, the octopus was not killed in a inhumane way that would be called cruel. It was killed efficiently and quickly, which is the most humane way to kill a octopus. Although it still moved that is merely because the tentacles move independently through nerves. Again this was not meant to be rude in any way. (If anything I said was scientifically proved to be untrue please tell me so, I would like to avoid misconceptions)

I'm an Aussie, but got taught how to eat octopus by my mates (Greek and Italians) You should open the head, remove guts, brain , eyes and beak (keep the head flesh attached). Rinse in the seawater and beat the occy against a rock a few times and stretch the tentacles, (this relaxes the flesh) then boil in water that has white vinegar - removes the slime in the skin)until it is orange in colour about 5mins - cut into cubes, marinate in olive oil, lemon juice, oregano and salt for about 10-15min, then grill on the BBQ or fry in shallow oil for 5-7mins. Let it cool a little to rest/relax and serve with crusty bread toast rubbed with a clove of garlic on one side and good quality olive oil to dip the bread into. The absolute BEST way to enjoy it

I know octopus tastes good, I have no issues with killing it and eating it, but part of me feels sad. They're exceptionally smart animals, tasty, but smart.

Why do people complain about the octopus being cooked in the video? Yet there is plenty of sea food places and they praobly dont complain. First of all, we’re standing up for our rights. If you would open up your narrowed mind, you would see that most of the meat you eat is cloned and modified. You’re filled with the government’s lies and I personally think you aren’t ready for the truth. Have you even asked a vegan WHY we are vegan? If not, you have no rights to judge us. Don’t judge us at all but especially if you don’t know our purpose. Give me two examples as proof on how humans are supposed to eat meat. We can’t eat it raw like other carnivores so there’s one example. We don’t have sharp teeth to bight into meat, like other carnivores so there’s an other.. What is the problem with everyone; there's abundant amounts of octopi in the ocean and trying a nice local one is completely fine. Don't forget it's a BLOODY OCTOPUS; if it can be caught it can be eaten, any vegan arguing that humans aren't meant to be carnivores are dillusional, we eat what we catch - food chain - and just because our livers have evolved to not eat raw food or certain types, or maybe that we only have 2 pairs of canines or something it doesn't matter. Much older humans ate anything they could put their hands on, THERE'S NO REASON WE CAN'T DO THE SAME. (Unless you refer to mass hunting and poaching and killing sharks for exmaple just for their fins or something, then fair enough) excuse any grammaticl errors - this is no proof of ignorance, just carelessness because this isn't an English language debate!
