In this week's repair and restoration video, I restore and refinish a corner table I rescued from the trash one evening while on the way home from the hardware store. It is a more modern piece compared to what you usually see on this channel and it isn't the best quality piece but it turned out really nice in the end.
The table was dirty and sticky but overall in okay condition. All it needed was a good cleaning, scraping, sanding, staining, and refinishing with an oil and wax finish.

Thanks to everyone who is here to watch this project!! 🍻
Whoa!!! That looks amazing now!! Sooooo much scraping done there...but it was worth it.
Thanks! It was a ton of scraping for sure. I only showed y'all a little of it. But it is better than using stripper. I hate using stripper. Stripper is the worst. Messy and stinky. Have I mentioned that I do not like using stripper? 🙂✌🏽
I’m so glad to see pieces like this get saved from the landfill. It might not be Fine Furniture, but it’s solid wood, and look how well it cleaned up! I would put that in my house, it looks 10 times better than before and a better look than when it was new.
Thanks! I wasn't sure I should spend the time on it and I wasn't planning on keeping it but now that it is finished, it fits nicely in my home. It is probably here to stay.
The table looks better than it probably did when it was brand new. You gave it depth and warmth that it didn't have before. Proof you can restore newer, cheaper pieces and make them really nice!
Thanks! I wasn't sure what I expected when I found this piece but I love how it turned out.
Very well done! Thanks for the video!
Thanks! I am happy that you enjoyed watching it.
Lovely. I remember the Bombay Company. They made really interesting reproductions of small, classic furniture.
Thanks! I had never heard of Bombay before finding this table.
Oh the bench dogs to hold up the drill is brilliant!! I gotta screenshot this. Thanks for the idea!
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with it.
That was beautifully done. Nice little corner table.❤
Thank you! 😊
Amazing skills! Love your videos. God bless you and yours. 🙏🏼
Thank you very much! 🙂
I remember the Bombay line of inexpensive furniture. They had form, however, the factory finish was horrible. You've done an excellent job of revealing what it really could have been. Thanks. Narragansett Bay
Thanks! It turned out better than I thought it would.
Nice piece, good work👍
Thank you very much!
You did a great job even I prefer changing the stain color
Thanks!
Lovely, lovely piece! I look forward to your next video, from here in sunny Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa 🇳🇿
Hello to Aotearoa and thank you very much! See you in the next one!
Very nice job.
Thank you!

I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you very much!
Nice work.
Thanks!
Um trabalho exepcional, digno de um restaurador profissional e dedicado. Parabéns pelo seu esforço.
Muito obrigado!
I have a Bombay Co. mirror that's at least 40 years old and it has held up well, aside from the joints shrinking.
I had never had a piece before this. Found it on the side of the road. It is not something I would have purchased back in the day but I love how it turned out in the end. Thanks!!
Can you tell me what the set up is for spinning the spindles for sanding? Sweet to see a trashed piece take on a new life
Thanks! I cannot remember the turning speed of the lathe that I use when simply sanding pieces. I will have to go look it up and get back with you on that. It's a slow speed though. The big thing I have to remember though when using the lathe to sand is to make sure I do not put scratch marks in the wood as it turns. I just turn to get the heavy finish off and then finish sanding with strokes by hand along the wood grain to remove marks from turning.
That came up nice - I thought when you started staining you were going to keep the edges lighter - 🤔 think it would’ve looked quite nice - end result looks good in that space too
Lighter edges would have looked nice but they had a strange plastic-like trim that didn't stain well and looked fake. I had to sand it off and stain to match the top to blend it in to look natural. Thanks!
✨️beautiful
Thanks! 🌷
It was ugly now it’s nice
Thanks for the feedback. I like the way it looks now also.

esperto ✌🏽
I'm afraid it was junk before and still is. All that work and you didn't even stain the underside of it. I admire your work, but sadly a waste of time in my opinion. Take care 🙂
I am not sure I'd call it total junk but it definitely won't be a new family heirloom to pass on. I didn't stain the underside because it wasn't stained to begin with...however, I did seal the wood underneath to prevent further damage. Thanks for the honest feedback!! ✌🏽
1997 from Bombay THIS IS NOT AN ANTIQUE. IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK !!!!!!!
Who said it was an antique? It's not even vintage! I am not sure I'd call it junk as it was made like most furniture of the day but for a trash find I feel it cleaned up nicely. Thanks for your insightful feedback. It's always welcome here. Cheers 🍻
There was a large Bombay Company store in Peabody MA back in the day that stocked mostly fake antiques and repros made in Asia. It was a fun place. I still have two steel and marble ice cream parlor tables which I use as end tables in my bedroom.
Chelmsford here 🙂 - still have a foot stool from there 🙂
I had never heard of it until I found this piece in the trash. I wasn't buying furniture back when this brand was big but it was interesting learning about it. Huge brand back in the day.
This restoration/resuscitation of the lovely Bombay Co. corner table is astounding!
Atlanta here - I still have 2 Bombay Co. silver chests that I use as nightstands. They are 30+ years old and still look great! I really loved Bombay Company. Sure miss that store.
Been a while since I've seen the name Bombay. lol You cleaned that up nicely!
Thanks!! I had never seen the name before finding this piece in the trash. Had to Google it to learn about it. Seems like it was a huge brand back in the day.
Bombay furniture.❤
I had never heard of it before finding this piece. Seems like it was a huge brand back in the day.
Nice refinish
Thanks!
Beautiful restoration
Thank you very much!
Beautifully done! Great job
Thank you very much!
Good job Matt. I look forward to your new video. I think it's going to be an interesting restoration.
Thanks!
Wow ! 😍
Thank you! 😃
Great work as always 👏👏
Thank you so much 😀
I love how you literally give these pieces a new life to live for the next 100 years. Even the newer pieces. ☺️
Thank you! 😊
That little table was rescued beautifully! Well done!
Thank you! It did clean up pretty well!
Parabéns! Ficou incrível!😊❤
Muito obrigado! 🙂
Why not use paint stripper ????🤨🤨🤨
I hate using stripper. It's stinky, messy, environmentally unfriendly, and not safe (but mostly because I am bad about using PPE). I try only to use it when scraping or sanding is not enough. I really, really hate using stripper and only use it when nothing else works. I've got a couple of projects in the queue for which I will need stripper so stay tuned! ✌🏽
It's new again and beautiful! 1🌷🌷
Thank you very much! 🌻
Fidelity job, nice results
Thanks!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ your so detailed. I can’t badger you for more content… 😔😔😔
😂😂😂😂 guess I’ll rewatch one of your other videos since I’ve watched them all.

Marvelous job.
Thank you!
Very nice work sir
Thank you very much!
loved it
Thanks!!
Very nice.
Thanks!
NICE😊
Thanks 🤗
I have something similar but it is designed for a snooker room. So there are holes drilled through the top so I can slot cues in the holes. Very useful.
That is a damn fine use for this piece. I can't find a place for this.
@@Restorology Yes. I have a snooker room with a full size table.
A small hook screwed into the under side of the top. That takes the triangle.
